Afraid we might not earn the dimes.
Afraid that we might not fit in.
Afraid we might succumb to sin. 

Afraid we might not look the part.
Afraid someone might break our heart.
Afraid that we will one day die.
Afraid to fail, afraid to try. 

Why do we fret? Why do we fear?
Afraid will always reappear....

Against the window beats the rain
Afraid to stay, afraid to go
The minutes passing oh so slow
I hear them rushing to and fro
A seed of hope begins to grow
I cannot stand another blow
Unwise  to let emotion show
At last they tell me what they know

the cold air bites into my light shift

Staying up again tonight,
While heartache ails the weary mind
And walks along the narrow line,
Afraid to move afraid to fall
To close my eyes and risk it all.
Dreams can come and dreams can go
But where they start I'll never know.
So strike up a match and light my eyes
Heat the thoughts and let them rise,
Drop the bombs to take the risk
To grant an insomniac her wish....

been down this road before
hard to tell if the person interested wants love or lust
afraid to get hurt again
afraid to risk my all again
just to be proven wrong once again
but so desperately want to love and to be loved
the way love is suppose to flow naturally
looking for that gentle, loving presence
someone to give me hope
to trust and fall in love once more...

Heart pounding like a waterfall
The sun rises but it is still dark
Fear of love
Fear of flight
Fear of everything that comes in the night ,
The essence of the night is stinging in my mind
They come for me , but i revolt them
Do not pitty me
For it is what I choose
I have a free will and this is what i choose

There can be no rehearsals 
No extra “takes”
Mistakes cannot be corrected
It’s all part of the act
Some play the leading roles
Some just sit in a dark corner
Afraid to act, afraid to live
Some create happiness and laughter
Some sorrow and tears
Old actors exit
New ones enter 
The show goes on regardless
Some can see beyond the stage
Some cannot
The Audience Watches….
