Dusk
dusk dribbles dewdrops
flower petals atrophied...
evening primrose blooms

Ruptured Umbilical Cord
lost every notion of life's cosmic rhythms
atrophied links with nature
blind deaf marionettes

She Is a Cartoon
She is a cartoon
a sketch of her former self
she is a comic
no one sees her anymore
she is older now
opinions have atrophied
an invisible old crone, me....

Heartbroken
#1
Footstep dies away
My atrophied heart
listens the howl of tempest
#2
She broke out, choked, tearful
Her house caught fire
Caskets of memories set ablaze
#3
Vast expanse, solitary tree
She was wiggling
She lost her eggs in desolate moon...

signs of autumn
leaves tumbling from trees
wild geese honking overhead~
bright orange pumpkins
frost-etched window panes
crimson canopies aflame~
scarecrows atrophied
carved jack-o-lanterns
bare naked trees stripped of leaves~
the songbirds are mute...

Runoff
It’s not fair how the heart fails
to completely heal, no matter
friendly medicines proffered,
prostheses patiently plugged,
eventual atrophied acceptance;
memories fade away, like streams
joining a river, but not to wash away
they just become part of the ocean....

Separation
SEPARATION
The closeness we once had
was a light shining in the dark.
Storm clouds came
and shielded the sun.
The seeds atrophied
and the sprouts withered.
What was once a rainbow
became a black and white
single brush stroke
against a pale sky.

Spring's Arrival
Snow drifts atrophied
on Spring's arrival,
silently shrinking
into slush puddles
that soon disappear.
Sunlight feels warm
on naked skin;
the air smells fresh,
and songbirds sing.
Daffodils
and tulips,
quickly sprout.
And the
trees turn
green....

And So It Begins
And so it begins,
you start slowing down
muscles atrophied
sight begins to blur
and dreams drift away.
Your hair turns grey
you wear false teeth
you put on weight
and cannot sleep.
You’re grouchy
and can't hear,
all sure signs
you are
growing
old....

I Am Dying
O helpless-me; atrophied on the planks of rigidity
Creaks to the tune of my pain- in anguish suffers but
Less than when thou from bough patterned to plan
Now serves- silently in stillness, but not I, I cry
O fallow- me, morose, neither die nor live to give
Time tied, greed to grab rich, all on same boat...

Her Beautiful Mind
The light spills out over the horizon
from the yolk of the broken sun
it slips warmly through our window
and falls like ocean waves
against the shorelines of her face
her waning dreams perform
an encore for the spectators
seated before her waking stage
as the arena becomes lit
the crowd disperses and empties
leaving her atrophied eyes
to begin their daily struggle
with all the things they cannot explain
to her beautiful mind...

Take Back My Past
TAKE BACK MY PAST
The nascent palms clutched
the blank parchment You gave,
almost filled up now.
The hieroglyphic scroll of failed life
at the edge of night
crumbles to dust
in time’s wasteland.
The new day will dawn,
I pray…
take back my time wasted,
my atrophied past,
give another blank parchment.
I’ll rise from dust,
write the saga of vibrant life anew…
the scroll dedicated to You.
