signs of autumn
leaves tumbling from trees
wild geese honking overhead~
bright orange pumpkins
frost-etched window panes
crimson canopies aflame~
scarecrows atrophied
carved jack-o-lanterns
bare naked trees stripped of leaves~
the songbirds are mute
