Diminished Hexaverse

A poem containing stanzas of 5 lines, then 4 lines, then 3 lines, then 2 lines, ending with one word. The syllables in each stanza correspond to the number of lines, i.e. 5 in each line in the first stanza, 4 in the second stanza and so on.

And so it begins you start slowing down muscles atrophied your sight starts to blur and dreams drift away your hair turns grey you wear false teeth you're gaining weight and cannot sleep you’re grouchy and can't hear, all sure signs that you're growing old (Diminished Hexaverse) Feb. 9, 2019 AND SO IT BEGINS Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Line Gauthier

A wonderful diminished hexaverse, my friend. It made so much sense I did not realize it was a diminished hexaverse until I got to the last three words. Good luck in Line's contest.
