Nature knows that smell forbids.
Aphids avoid marigolds.
Match for a reflex magnet
in your berry patch.

Yellow fire hazards blemish the lawn,
prickly to bare summer feet.
Locusts overtake the heat.
Aphids feast and continue to spawn,
yet still remain strawberries to eat.

Autumn Splendor
as cool breeze blows
leaves turn yellow,orange and red...
shedding of leaves

leaf peepers seen
as red apples attract birds...
aphids repelled

Runik and Rose born
as this foliage displays splendor...
 long life lingers....

Hate
Through the manicured lawn hate crept eating
soil
It hid its face
the sun and moon soon spied the long shadow
by
watching the aphids
run and hide
This I took as divine right
and smothered hate within a killing jar

Ladybug

The Beauty of a Ladybug,
Sitting on a twig near a stream.
Tiny white spots on crimson coat,
Now I ponder and I dream.
They munch all day on Aphids,
Much to a Gardeners delight.
Protecting their plants and flowers,
Our Ladybug is a welcome site.

My Truck Is My Home
Sleep is a bride I can never find,
not on nights behind this steering wheel
Night spiders and aphids are on my mind
and watching them explore my windshield feels almost surreal

The lights of the lot illuminate this new playground
a concrete field dotted with strays
The lively twilight nature makes is sound
as hungry dogs come out to play...

Lucidity
i was a child, pushing aphids into and popping them under my fingernails, letting their green corpses gather like dirt before sucking my fingertips clean.
my mother caught me and slapped my hands away from my mouth with a disgusted grunt.
i felt embarassed but acted ashamed, continuing my compulsion in secret; then, in two decades' time, i became an aphid....

Ladybugs
Ladybugs are beetles.
They eat aphids and mites, too.
They are red and spotted.
I love ladybugs, don't you?

Bonus activity: Inform children that ladybugs are a gardener's friend, as they devour
the aphids and spider mites that destroy a gardener's plants. Some gardeners even
purchase ladybugs from home and garden centers to sprinkle on their plants!...

Sundrops dapple umbrageous trees strewing uncut diamonds, littering the path with ambient flickers of what lies beyond. Sundrops freckle ocean's surface accenting the ripples that pattern the waves, nuzzling playful kisses toward the warm beach. Sundrops seduce the wayward wind pirouetting with the aphids blissful dance, a frenzied tarantella across my lips.

Premium Member Bottle Garden
I found a large glass container in an antique store.
My panoptic vision for it became so much more...
A bottle garden that would bring me such pleasure,
so, it grew into a tiny jungle of plants to treasure.
I nurtured it quite tenderly for almost two years
but one morning, what I found left me in tears.
Tiny mites and aphids stripped all the foliage clean.
I'll burn my bottle garden and pests with kerosene....

Hoverfly
So still, she holds herself. No sound,
hanging there as if suspended;
reverses back and darts around,
back then to the flower intended.

Tiny fizzing wings scarcely seen,
folded now, she alights to taste
the nectar there, such sweet cuisine,
then off above the bloom she's graced.

Thank you my pollinator friend
for laying larvae to devour
those aphids. May they meet their end
and so allow the plants to flower....

Ladybug
I'm the fairy of the garden
I protect it, cure and guard it
from the beetles and the lice
and the army of the aphids
I'm revered, I'm beloved
like a queen around the globe
even preserved from the cold
jealously kept more than gold
I eat aphids, I eat lice
I' m pretty, red and spotted
save the crops, save the oranges
after Our Lady named appropriate.
