Peace No Peace

It is impossible to live at peace with an enemy for whom peace is anathema.*

Anathema meaning “a person or thing accursed or consigned to damnation or destruction.”

Cursed

As a societal pariah,
am I not deserving a grand denouement?
When my tale reaches zenith,
will I be shackled,
by the abhorrent atrocities,
your accursed kind has wrought,
upon my tempestuous form?
Light my pyre,
I need a tan.

Drifter Accursed

thrown back
amidst the liar's ruin
weathered with the reins
wrapped around his hand
pressed on
over dusk flooded fields
should it never lift
and drown the thistle
heard still
phantom hoovesteps pounding
as the drifter accursed
takes flight and is gone

Changeling

Dancing with the darkness
Accursed creature of the night
Wearing a mask of humanity
To hide that twisted trickery
Then playing demon music
Pipes wail a beauty's curse
Stealing life and children
From our loving tender kin
Twisted vile changing
Go back to darkened dreaming

Endless Admiration

kissing golden sands
in endless admiration
accursed by the moon

a sweet surrender
caught in stoic web of time
joy reigns eternal

waves hug sand
sweetly serenades
‘Would you be my valentine?’

The Veil

The Veil

On decrepit pathways hobbling
Life soul and world a wash of grayscale

Dark wings in shadows sing
By design the spirit to impale

An artist’s palette of black and white
Bright hues in daylight pale

Adrift in oceans of ravens night
Accursed walk beyond the veil

Lolita's Conceit

Lolita’s Conceit

Obsession defined
Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov
An accursed passion
Love’s true abomination.

Literary allusion
Tintinnabulation
Sounding moral oblivion
God’s sure condemnation.

Loves Departure

" Enchanted by her soft laments was he in lawless wonder; seeking salvation as though they lied accursed in the darkness of appealing madness.

O such the precarious torments that bordered the divine need of mortal repentance; where upon their kiss, they cared not too depart. "

Last Night

Through a lightning's gash
By a war-like clash
Nigh blinded! Oh the bedlam!
Then the expulsion
Of something, yond the realms of
Washed up repulsion!

With its dragon's wings
And its bellowings
What flew down our street; over
Rooftops; yours, mine.
Great fear, formed a storm from out.
Greatest accursed sign.

Defeat Causes

Accursed thing-cravings Covetousness that prevails Abiding not in God’s will Cleaving to self-might Absence of God’s leadership Cause my spiritual defeat.*

It's Hard To Be a Rhymer In a Free-Verse World

The "Rhymers" guild; archaic faction,
We garner all the more detraction
Less, are we, in our attraction
More, we are, the poetic infraction

When free is verse, a form accursed-
Murders Art, fetch forth a hearse
For they coerced the Poems reverse,
And left our lines inverse- perverse!

Bubble Burst

A thoughtlet rises from the deep,
Tiny companions coalesce as they sleep
Swirl up a storm ever expanding as they surge.
At surface emerge and with the ether they merge,
Lost forever as the bubble-wrap when burst.
From the deep to collective banality accursed.

Accursed Cursor

The blinking cursor taunts
I know not what it wants
Alone it sits and pleads
I know not what it needs
And yet.....and yet....
My fingers hover
over a keyboard
Aching....longing
for the touch
of a distant lover
lost
not for words
but for passion
not lust
but fire
The cursor winks
come hither
caress me
whisper to me
to us

A New Car Is In Serious Trouble

A new car is in serious trouble,
Its worried owner worrying his stubble
A helpless heart is on fire
No longer sure The Devil is A liar!

Unmistakable tears of a crier,
At a still far off market, a buyer
And through accursed routes A Trier.

New dreamy wishes of a road drier,
Upset by his left front tire,
Already in a manacling mire…

Some tomorrow a flying car or car-flyer

The Accursed

The churches are closed and it’s cold.
Outside on these holly grounds,
The tired and hungry huddle,
Become part of landscaping, pray.

They are all alone,
Each with their own story,
Telling it to God and anyone else
Not bothered by their circumstance.

Tonight I am one of them,
Shuffling for a place to sleep,
With empty pockets and stomach
Growling at God and religion.

A Mermaids Warning

Nor shalt one mortal soul of my tale.telling.
Of my majestic life in the wondrous sea!
Dare not pen of my alluring, mystical fate
Elst, the painful curse of Neptune befall thee.

Your accursed human verse, hardly divine!
Find you then, earthly matters and rage on!
Human, you fathom not sea matters sublime.
Author thee, the beautiful,to dwell upon.

Love Me

Love me tender, love me strong.
Love me with wine and song
On a hillside all the day long.
Love me with a joke or two
With stories of people you knew.
Love me until night releases you.
Confide in me all that you fear.
Whisper words as you draw near
Words you know I long to hear.
Death, that sting, be accursed!
Love me for what life is worth
And know that I loved you first.

I Hack You

I DESIRE AND DREAM

AND EVERY CORNER OF MY HEART

EXPLORES YOUR LONELY WORLD..

I SEE YOUR HIDDEN TEARS

TRANSCENDING MY EYES..

THEY MELT LIKE ICEBERGS.

THIS LIFE IS FUTILE

IF WORDS DON’T REACH ME

AND EVERY MOMENT IS ACCURSED

TIME IS ALWAYS CALLOUS

FOR THOSE WITH A GOLDEN HEART…

BUT MY ARMS WILL REACH YOU

BEFORE THE SUNSET OF MY LIFE..

I HACK YOU IN MY DREAMS FOREVER…

Medusa

Toxic serpentine bite
Wicked tis vile appetite
Eyes malignant heat
Spew malicious deceit

Warriors cast to stone
Charity ne’ver condone
Coils of slithers amass
Malevolence came to pass

Cold tis heart despised
Sculptures highly prized
Stoic beauty, pillars of salt
Lest ye stare no blame to fault

Accursed to damn or quell
Apathy for virtues expel
Trespass sanctum if dared
Mercy tis utterly spared.

Why Don'T You Say Goodbye

To the melody of
"Cara Mia," by
Jay & the Americans
c. 1965

Corona virus, Why
Don't you say goodbye
Each time you infect
A life you do wreck

You're just an ugly bug
You halt us when we hug
Our graves you've dug
You're creepy and smug

Here's my final word
You accursed nerd
Hitch yourself to a bird
Fly away... away... Goodbye!

(Chorus):
COVID 19, Why
COVID 19, Why
COVID 19, Why
Goodbye ~ GOODBYE!

Take Two and Call Me In the Morning

Poetic Terrorist- flagrant Errorist!
While all I write feels meritless
And all I do seems perilous!
Chalk it up to being careless...

My Heart, my Mind- about to burst!
Born, was I, a Soul accursed...
A million wounds I have nursed
Still I feel always the worse

Send helicopters full of doctors-
Tell me, what is their diagnosis?
Oh! the Tests conclude I'm awkward!
(What a bleak and poor prognosis!)

Incomprehensible Existential Conundrum Confronts Mine Consciousness Part Ii

why chance genetic dice throw
gifted me finite time
solely to contemplate
(more than just my navel)
meaningfulness analogous
to scrutinizing Möbius strip
unable to identify
inscrutable mystery
defining random existence
specifically essence
happenstance/circumstance
which begat me Matthew Scott Harris.

His noggin mottled, plagued, and riddled
with debilitating accursed impediments
since birth circa
January xiii mcmlix.

Chamomile Afternoon

One day, it all ended,
Her bubble was burst!
She wondered if she were
somehow accursed!

It was just reality, kicking her
in the pants.
She begin to meditate and stop
all the worthless rants.

Music soothed her saddened,
sore soul.
A cup of chamomile tea and a
dainty cinnamon roll.

Ah, then she could pen, it was
her release.
That poetic palace of eternal
surcease!

Doom

Freedom, flight.
Omnipotent?
No, over what?
I am alone
In this subterranean soulscape
It is heaven, it is me!
NO, WAIT!
ME?!
NO! I am still traped!
Accursed self-delusion, you hath given me hope!
How could you be so cruel?!
Now I can feel again… now I can burn.
I am infernal, PUT ME OUT!
My heart is not ice
I am vulnerable!
I must again turn cold
Again… I must kill
For if I kill, I am different
For if I kill, I am not them
