And I’m driving at a record pace

It’s time I did an about-face...

About Face
Can our spirits pray
without God at the center

Can worship pay homage
to self

Can divinity reign
in each person ordained

Revering what’s hidden
—indwelt

About Face
The mirror calling deepest
is the one that you avoid
Images run left then right
your back turned paranoid

Unwillingness to turn around
in fear of what you’ll see
Illusion as your proffered choice
—reflection waits unseen

(Dreamsleep: April, 2023)...

If you travel in the wrong direction,
you will require a modest correction.
All we have to do is turn you around.
In the right direction you will be bound.
Make an about face on the track if you please.
You need a turn of one hundred and eighty degrees.

Inspired by another member's poem....

About-Face
You took it too far—
When you put my tears in the junk.
The shift was when
You shoved your tack through my dance—
Making my heart on my looks;
My guts on my heart…
Smashed, my convictions,
On the stairs—
I’m pleading, walk with me there.
Tell me how my bleeding can
Whirl out this insanity…
I'm complete, in sane....

Black cat crosses path.
Bad luck just superstition.
  ....about face, in case.

The bats and black cats
Are more powerful tonight.
   ...or so it may seem.

Spooky sounds abound,
Creaking doors are amplified.
  ...hair on neck stands up.

Spooky stories told
In front of Guy Foxes fire.
  ....all ending with Boo!!!...

Listen to poem:
About Face
David J Walker

It is about face
About time and place
And direction
And unoccupied space
In East or West that
We face

And the unknowing of
which is  forward or
backward or north
or south

the illusion of which is
up and which is down

bound by the gravity of
anticipation in

each new moon and season
Named for the gods lost
To antiquity...

Premium Member A Disappearance
Left so overwhelmed
with all the tomfoolery;
Drowning in why try;
Operating in my lane,
never meant to set the pace;

Not made to follow,
they go right as I turn left;
Throw in a white flag;
My heart eviscerated,
I’m stuck between fight or flight;

Thinking of the group
that already forgot me;
A disappearance
from them and an about face,
you just can’t save everything.

Baby Face - About Face
To you it may seem
That I'm grumpy or mean
Or that I cry a lot

The truth I fear
Is so very near
And it all explains a lot

The face you see
Is not really me
I know you know me not

The truth, with wit
Is about what I did
In this itsy bitsy cot

My pants, too late
Is warm with weight
And really smells a lot!

So, hey, put down that phone
And leave me alone
Or help this tiny tot!

Picture no. 1...

Elephantine
Slow motion measures
out of time
in pace
Great go-between
grows notions
in lines
and space
Eglantine
embows fragrant pleasure
springtime's
embrace
Mezzanine
bon mot for half measure
lying low
in place
Intervene
plover distraction
displeasure
paradigm
about face
Serene
glow sensate pleasure
time felt
with grace

Puberty arrives
With it's accompanying drives
Plus the scourge of teenage acne.
Most remedies would fail
Nothing ever worked well
While my face continued to attack me.

Father scoffed "Son I implore
If you scrub your face more
Then your acne will soon disappear."
Scrubbed as hard as I could
But it still did no good
Further proof that my case was severe.

Unsightly, painful and embarrassing...
By adulthood it stopped its harassing....
