a placid lake at sunrise
bending to fill a weaved basket
water's reflect a native squaw
40% off --
That draws the customers in;
They like their bargains.
But at the end of the day
I have sold more and made less.
Epigram #40:
CONSCIOUSNESS
Awake to dawn
Arise to morn
Aware of light

Sober time
A time of pain
Regret and remorse
But it all gets better
In degrees
But I do still figure
Out about myself
At 40
Sober time
A time of pain
Regret and remorse
But it all gets better
In degrees
But I do still figure
Out about myself
At 40
All I want to do
is just work
just do my job
go home
and do it
all over again
40 hours
A week
no strings
no attachments
you can tell
it rings bell
as they smile
going mabe 40 miles
or more as the go
fast or slow
they choose

Your Face:
The face you have before age 40 is what Nature and genes gave you; the face you have after 40, is what you gave yourself!
A pair of spectacles
an unsharpened pencil
an eraser, pink, shaped like Tennessee
Which of these is truth?
Answer quickly or fall to hell!
You could have been completely free
But I love you and you love me
We’re still together
Through joy and bad weather
For one more anniversary
A spell cast
A promise of a hundred years
I am for you at last
Will follow till the end
Of time.

Number 40:
DEATH
And when I die
Now don't you cry
We had our highs
And lovely sighs

This day has come I'm glad to say
The 40 years I've tried to play
At last my name does appear
As the WINNER for this year
Now I'll wait to get my pay!
Meet me by the fountains brink
bring your quill and maybe ink
for you are all ones that blink
20, 40 count them all
but watch your step
as you may fall.
There once was an elephant's trunk
That accidentally encountered a skunk
He sneezed 40 times
Til he rang his own chimes
Then cried cause he knew how he stunk
From her eyes to his
swap their hearts and find that they
belong together

No greater from me does God require,
Nor less, does He, of me expect.
That for Him, great love, I aspire,
And love for neighbor, I not neglect.
Matthew 22: 37-40
A
rainstorm
in his mind-
lasting forty
years
Night of the Equinox took Charles Burchfield
40 years to complete !

Brotherhood brotherly when's the love come
jab after jab
always right there
on time
made a deal died done the 40 and 40
some love brotherhood would mighty fine
A former Canadian Mountie
Lost his mule and put up a bounty
Though he searched high and low
He got lost in the snow
And found his ass in the next county
There was a rich lawyer of McNaught
Who overcharged his clients a lot.
His bank account soared
As their welfare he ignored.
Now he’s gone to hell in a 40-foot yacht.
For Catherine Sies
40 years before the mast ,
love has come n gone and past,
the light of love it lingers still,
cos you're still beautiful,
it lasts...Don.
