My soul breathes the earth
Eyes see the light in the trees
My heart brims with joy
When all seems down,
To Heaven we shall bound,
And when all seems safe and sound,
Thy shall meet Him who wears a Crown.

babys room whisper
explained as a fluke
parents are in denial
baby claps her hands
dust drifts through doorway of the aging house
floorboards singing old secrets
to the settling sunlight
a door left ajar~
not open,
not shut~
the quiet posture
of a reason
we’re still
trying to believe
midnight settles over unbroken plain,
crickets stitch faint threads of sound,
stars embrace the silence
I am an unwilling participant.
But it is inescapable.
An earthly evil.
Death would be preferable,
but no, it is taxes….
Give me a javelin, a fork and a spear
