There is a lady named Sherry
Who’s laugh is a blast quite merry
When asked if she shaves
She says no right away
Her cats prefer her legs hairy
Sherry was an old-fashioned valentine’s day cat
She loved sitting on fluffy day beds, cushy and fat.
Her parlor had a floral valentine’s day welcome mat
Gift from her latest amour, a tomcat named Pat
The trouble is that Pat’s sister is more than a bit of a brat.
Peskier than a mosquito, a fly, a hornet, a bee or a gnat.
Even though Pat’s presence made her heart go pitter-pat
She decided to release him due to the antics of sister brat.
In a lovely village near the dell lived Jerry
He had an affair with a gallon of sherry
Imbibing the whole bottle,
He pulled hard on the throttle
And wound up very drunken in Londonderry.

Once upon a time undefined by algorithm
In your arms you had me
As we slow dance to mild blues
Our hand and legs in a lover's tango
Like a puppet, you spun me to the rhythm
The walls echo my laughter and glee
So carefree, a heart that never felt a bruise
Once upon a memory forgotten long ago
Your tight grasp slipped away
It hurts to remember
The tempo increasing
How you caught on but I was stuck
know your place! you said, make it work! they said but u were faraway
I helplessly watched our fire burn out to a dull ember
Your whispered promises of a life of love unceasing
Were forgotten or did I run out of luck?
Once upon a time I blamed me
It was a race and I couldn't keep up
Sunbeam cast it's glow of a new beginning
I was more than enough, too much for a coward
If two do not work together, how do they agree?
I rock to the morning beat with a sherry in my cup
I am lucky, I am free, I am winning
One step at a time, never again will I look backward.
In a scene where the character, Carrie,
shoots her hand from a grave, brave Sherry
jumped right out of her seat,
but to friends would repeat:
“that movie was not EVEN scary!”
Feb. 26, 2018 for the Make me Laugh Contest
I do feel the need to air my intent
O, the smell of your sweet seductive scent
Your sensory feed draws me even closer
You make me a lyrical composer
I take a sip of your inner essence
and feel it is affecting my cadence
You intoxicate my moral fiber,
make me into a marital liar
Too much serenading a problem
Now I begin to believe I’m awesome
Tales of such grandeur fill my public stage
Soon I stutter and forget my own age
Mellow brought her little sister Tipsy
This merry threesome will lead to empty
you know I'm not much for birthday wishes
but take this heart felt poem as one
with gentle dreams of joy filled fun
and know I'm thinking of you
throughout my every day
and even though I
haven't seen you
for awhile
I miss
you

A boy named Tracy & A girl named Sherry
Young and in love they decided to marry
They had their ups and downs
As most young lovers do
And after giving it their all
They decided they were thru
But when it's meant to be
Not even the strength of the Hell Hounds
Could halt a love so true, so real
A love with no bounds
Over the years they have kept in touch
Meeting in places and talking on the phone
When you see them together, they act like kids
And it seems apart they had never grown
After all the toils and troubles
And many years apart
They still love one another deeply
They each complete two halves of a whole heart
No matter how hard they try
No matter what they do
Pure, genuine, unconditional love
Has a power hold on you
Things are meant to be for these two
Just you wait and see
For there's a true love story
Between Sherry and Tracy
Show me roses summer fair,
Or light of star and sun,
I know Sherry everywhere;
There is no fairer One.
Take I left or take I right,
Or take I up or down,
Sherry's smile is in my sight,
And all my fair be found.
Vow me hours singing sweet,
Or rhyme me verses dear,
None of these is so complete
As "I love Sherry" here.
Stack me gold, record me praise,
Or cast me towers high,
I would cut down half my days
To have my Sherry nigh!
