Self Sufficiency Poems | Examples

Premium Member Forest of Windmills

On the hills is a forest of windmills.
A chimera mirage of
shrill, garish pinwheels,
Wailing an endless lament
to the tragedy of the commons.
They spin a yarn of the
collapse of self-sufficiency
and starved frugality,
that yearned to curb our needs.
It's already too late,
or almost too late to ever succeed
in providing for the commons.

Premium Member THE ECHO RETURNS NOT

Silent is the echo as pride shouts
   selfishness causing pouts...
      self-conceit triumphs over jealousy bouts
         self-glory reigns with discontentment clouts
            self-reliance wavers upon attacking doubts
               self-pity maneuvers toward false humility-routes…

The echo returns not indeed...
   as self-sufficiency does arrogantly succeed
      self-exaltation declares me-I-my-mine creed
self-inflicting pain midst guilt continues to breed
self-denial actually hoists covetousness and greed
self-love matters most, not recognizing God with His deed.

Premium Member Pride

Do not wear pride like a necklace
For God detests pride and arrogance

Pride does not go unpunished
Pride leads to disgrace

Humility is rewarded with wisdom
While pride begets destruction

Cause it takes credit for God’s accomplishments
And covets God’s glory

Pride demeans others
It arrogates sense of Almightiness
To a mere mortal

Pride stifles growth of other virtues
Makes one to reject help needed

Prevents one to listen and help others
And deludes one into believing

In one’s self sufficiency
But in reality Pride is admission of weakness

Pride leads to extreme selfishness
Pride does not gratify

Pride does not exulte
Rather it dehumanizes and belittles

Vacation All I Ever Wanted

Crystal waters plumping the honeydews
and cascading through amusement park ride.
As tourists engage in espionage
in Duckburg at Knottsbury farms.
As graves of self sufficiency,
Communes of bagged embalm.
"Do What Thou Wilt","Do No Harm".
Spirit cooking, charms I"m sure.
Missing and exploited children bearing no arms.
Foreigners get precedence over
the Citizenry collage for the sake
of stirring the melting plot.

The coffers brim
and Scrooge McF swims past inflation,
reaps the rewards of child labor
at camp Whinnie the Pooh with pedophiles and containment lasers,
adds a zero and then again, while CBDC
cabalist coup hides the genesis
of their new technology,
obfuscates the code in block-chain,
snart contract chaser-
in lock-step
and unlocked surveillance,
laser focused,
poker face,
tazered for inconclusive shadow, ban.

As we sell our Sons and Daughters
to a not so brave New World.
Sold at half price for reverse mortgage
and a haptic iPhone holographic massage.
OnlyFans and Tic Tok trends.
Where does it end?
Where the SoyLent is green.
Where the Red Firm Grows.

March 14 Praises to God Bible Meditations Based on Joshua 16-18

Key Verse– Joshua 17:14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me [but] one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I [am] a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?

PRAISE BE TO GOD WHO BLESSES US

Praise be to God for blessing us as we:
Love Him with devotion
Labour for Him with diligence
Live for Him with dedication
Learn from Him with discernment
Lean on Him with determination

Joshua 16:4 Praise be to the Lord for
His given inheritance that is:
Precious midst waters’ provisions
Priceless midst wilderness’ pests
Pure against wickedness’ perversions
Perfect by His Word’s protection
Profitable through His ways’ preservation

Joshua 18:3 Praise be to the Saviour Who is admonishing
us not to be slack in possessing our blessings by:
Remaining in our selfishness
Retiring in our self-sufficiency
Resting in our self-righteousness
Relying on our self-improvement
Rejuvenating in our self-confidence
Retreating in our self-pity
Rejoicing in our self-esteem. Amen!

Premium Member PRAISE BE TO GOD WHO SHIELDS US FROM PLAGUES

February 22 Praises to God Bible Meditations Based on Numbers 26-27

Key Verse– Numbers 26:1 And it came to pass after the plague, that the LORD spake unto Moses…

PRAISE BE TO GOD WHO SHIELDS US FROM PLAGUES

Praise be to God for shielding us from plagues as we:
Confess our sinfulness, pleading sincerely
Commit our lives to Him, pleasing Him along our service
Converse to Him in prayer with our supplication
Choose to praise Him midst sanctification
Cling to Him and His powerful strength

Numbers 26:9 Praise be to the Lord for admonishing us
not to strive against Him by:
Displeasing Him with our perversions
Defying His precepts
Doubting His promises
Deriding His providence
Downgrading His provisions

Numbers 27:14 Praise be to the Saviour Who checks us
so we should not rebel against His commandments while:
Complaining about our situation
Cursing our status
Clamoring for self-sufficiency
Craving along selfishness
Continuing in our slothfulness. Amen.

Premium Member Self-Existent Light

In the deepest darkest sea,
where sunlight is non-existent,
the deep-sea angler fish lures its prey
with a bio-luminescent bait
made by its symbiotic bacterial mate.

Deprived of light from above
it emulates the mighty giant sun,
teaching it a thing or two
about self-existence
and self-sufficiency.

A tiny micro-star
shines so bright in the cold
deep, dark, dank depths
with insistent, incessant,
self-existent and confounding,
bio-luminescence.

Premium Member On Self-Sufficiency

To be self-sufficient is an admirable trait
Not needing to depend on anyone is great
Being able to set one’s own course each day
Free to express opinions, to have one’s say
In my way of thinking opens heaven’s gate.

The Empty Filled Cup

THE EMPTY FILLED CUP

Ever felt a vacuum despite the fact you fill-up others?
But how can you fill up other "cups" if your cup is empty?
Can an empty cup fill-up another cup?
But if you're actually filling other cups,
Is it possible to say you feel empty?
Self-sufficiency, the coin you search for in the bag of grain.
Can you "find" another whereas you're in oblivion yourself?
Overflow before filling others, find yourself to find others
Else, life is overwhelming and efforts underwhelming.
When things don't add up, it's time to subtract.
Subtract toxicity and laxity, keeping positive vicinity.
Past is haunted & painfully blooted still, face life undaunted.
Fill your own cup first with joy, peace and Love.
Then, you're able to overflow effectively into other cups.

Contemplating

I love staying out until dark
dusk is my favorite time to embark
going home causes me to become eager
there's nothing to do for the seeker
television is okay but it's not productive
playing cards is fine though deductive
I tend to travel to deep inside myself
I must learn to inactively propel
It seems they continue inventing things
to hinder self-sufficiency without strings
it's not called boredom for this I fight
we can't drive he can't distinguish at night
there's so much to say but I won't attempt
it's not worth the repercussions for to kempt
I can't relieve but to notice on this page
the lines are much longer when I have words to engage
I still don't understand an Iambic Pentameter
or I'd be writing Sonnets in place of rhymes in centimeter
all I need is the right teacher
I learned algebra from another dreamer
I surely didn't learn it in school
monotone didn't work for me as a rule
privacy would be admirable as I jot down this theme
one could dream

Birds of Pray -Not Prey-

A lot of birds were out today
Being chipper as they did play
Carefully I kept my distance
Dancing around without resistance
Excluding fright I didn't approach
For they do worry of those who poach
Giving them my ears instead
Hung out awhile until they fled
I wondered if they sang a song
Just because I stayed so long
Kiss the trees with little beaks
Love sun dew on their baby cheeks
Missing them would have been a bummer
Natal chart for them last summer
Opal moon finds them disappearing
Peering out from a clearing
Quest to search for their hiding places
Resting in their secure spaces
Self-sufficiency amidst forlorn wood
Trees to secure where they currently stood
Used to stop the bleeded
Vet would fix one if so needed
With mercy so they can continue to sing
X-ray could find a broken wing
Yes the fowl enjoyed a warm day in Fall
Zebra pen made flock to call

*Pray not Prey used intentionally

Windmills

The castles in the distance,
are rocks arranged in order,
to match the need of escape,
and the ultimate inclusion...
of self-sufficiency and freedom.

Monsters in the dark,
some of our own making,
most tangible even to the blind.
Yelling things at us loudly,
but no one hears...
anything,
but sublime.

Storms on the forefront,
of every new beginning.
The map ever-changing before our feet,
The goal elusive and yet complete.
Looking for a ribbon,
of yarn or thread?
Turns out to be kite string,
running through our head.

Laughing barefoot in tall grass,
remembering all that has gone before,
yet look forward to what is coming,
a tsunami of water; a whole ocean,
to ride a wild wave to the very stars.
As I know that is where...
you are!

Thanks be to God—come one, come all!

When one's greatest belief is in one’s self, limits emerge on human relief,
No joy. No sorrow. No hopeful feelings about this day, or morrow.
A vacuum of useless disbelief.

When 'science fixes all'—becomes the general rule, led by denial and utter doubt,
“There exists no God,” exclaims a sea, of haughty self-sufficiency,
empty robots knowing no assurance, as they shout.

If there exists no God, look around—at all He keeps in harmony:
Birds in the air, fish in the sea, trees breathing life giving possibility.
And humans, living and loving fearlessly.

The world demands a Savior strong, in balance to unruly throngs.
Our faith fills gaps the Creator allows, to test free will and sacred vows,
All while His love for Atheists lives on.

Thanks be to God—come one, come all!

See Myself

see myself doing it
see myself living it
see myself going down that path
see myself heading towards that direction
step in right direction
step in new direction
change is needed
change is desired
internally motivated shift
in thought process
internally motivated change
in direction
self-sufficiency is key
self-accomplishment is goal
towards creation of self-betterment

Today

I'm peaceful and still,
Waiting for the storm to pass.
Relinquishing my desperate will,
Soon I'll move again at last.

Take me with you,
For my bleeding heart holds me back.
I'm distracted by daydreams of youth,
Knowing it's the biggest thing I lack.

I was dripping with passion and desire.
Self-sufficiency led me down the path,
But I got lost and fell deep in the fire.
Burned and broken, controlled by the hateful wrath.

I get dressed but my scars still show.
It was never supposed to be this way.
With my head held high and my spirit down below,
I will manage to smile brightly for you today.

You deserve light, so my ghosts I'll lay to rest.
The tragedy was caused by what was harmful before
I ever got there and it was only a test.
Without any reason to keep the score.

It's gone and as much as I want to forget,
The fire that kept my soul at bay.
I am thankful that my death I nearly met;
It makes me stronger for you today.
