Wayne the Whale

There once was a whale named Wayne the Whale,
In his fin there was a rusty nail,
Then he met the crab named George,
Who got the nail out of it's gorge,
Wayne the Whale left with a flip of his tail.

Shark

Slow sways, it meanders ~
Sandy spotted mammoth
Sieving the shallow sea…
Still that dorsal fin fear!
Some jaws don’t bite or bark
Such is deep’s largest fish…
Sized gape, my whale shark awe ~

Accolades To the Moon

Since risen dawn, clouds have been drifting in,
shifting their shapes, swimming above the sea.
There seems to be a whale waving her dorsal fin
My accolades to the moon's power sung in apogee

There are tiny rivulets where starfish cannot hide
Sea worms wiggling, trying to inch their way home
Nothing escapes the hastened withdrawal of low tide
leaving treasures to discover on this morning as I roam

Dragon Kron

Dragon spines and flames
Burn away you animals!
Cook your own skin!
Fry your eyes!

Dragon Kron dives through the sky
flames combust in its nose
flames burn its prey
eating it with one bite

Dragon Kron flies towards
China, Taiwan and Japan
Sometimes to Europe too
And it burns all the matter around

Like sharks swimming in independence
Dragon Kron dives in again and again
Its back spines dive like a killer whale fin
Spine by spine it dives

Into The Blue

Bowing to the mighty ocean
Relentless is her pull,
Into the blue depths
'Til she's good and full

Ice took it's first shot
As steady we ran right in,
Sailing along so freely
As a whale on his fin

Crashing, just scraping by
Then onto a dead stop,
I write this letter now
While I sit safe atop

The iron walls creak
The frigid waters seep,
Tilting the floorboards and
The last tears I weep

A message in a bottle
Dropped into the blue,
Do pardon my absence...
I shall not be joining you.

The Fisherman

The Fisherman

The early bird does not get the worm
When a fisherman sets his clock,
He plays checkers with the moon
And fishes quietly on the dock.
There is a nibble here and there
But waits patiently for his chance,
Nature wakes up with the sunrise
And his bobber began to dance.
Toe to fin with a ten pound bass
Is the beginning of his tale,
Catch and release lives in his heart
But it was as big as a whale.
With memories he pondered life
And said a little prayer to God,
“I appreciate my time on earth
And thank you for this fishing rod.”

A Whale of a Thank You

As I leap and splash abound
The crash of water with all its sound
It was you and who you found
Dying with a large net all wrapped around

You with your family came to my aid
Just as you would have also prayed
So gentle in the water you wade
As my life had begun to fade

But you just jumped right in
Us both knowing this was a sin
You freed my tail and my fin
I could see it in your grin

So before I swim away
I just had to say
Here's 40 leaps and all their spray
For you saved my life hip hip hurray

Old Grand Ewe

Behold sequestered by the sea,
not whale, nor seal, nor small sand-flea.

This is the face of old grand Ewe,
whom from the cliffs, has come to view.

Though slit-eyed stare, gazes at the ocean,
watching it move in glorious motion.

And then slowly moves across the land,
as trotters deep in arduous sand.

But none the less, the ewe finds the rock,
somewhere steady, to rest her flock.

And signals up with baas of glee,
as sheep come down, all primed for tea.

Yet when the waves do come to shore,
Ewe is perplexed by fish galore.

It flaps its tail, and moves its fin,
yet gasps for air with frightful grin!

For no chud nor chard to eat but bark,
blown in from prior stormy dark.

Ewe signals to the nearby scene,
and struts upon its golfing green.

And takes a bite and likes the taste,
and soon the whole flock emigrate.

Yet by the morn, when putters come,
the grass is gone, all in Ewe's tum.

And so sequestered by put and club,
Ewe takes her flock all way back up.

To grassy cliff, to rocky hills,
away from modern-day, beach side thrills.

But never will the Ewe forget,
The escapade, with no regret.

Hard Work, Success and Failure

When we look at the mouth of a warrior
We think he never sucked his mother’s breast
The birds that rest on the Iroko
Does not know how the Iroko grew
The heart that persevered in pain
Is the heart that will rejoice with gain
Like the Hibernating hedge hog
Metamorphosing to life after winter
Whales and sharks are not found in shallow waters
The man who swims against the turbulent tides
Of deep shark and whale infested murky waters
Will get the whale oil, make a shark’s fin soup
Or wear a shark’s leather jacket
The resilient hand that never says die
Sculpts stumbling blocks into stepping stones
And squeezes water out of rock
Like a gold stone that passed through a furnace
And became the priceless gold ornament
Separating the men from the boys
The pot that wants cooked food
Must be scorched by the furious and ferocious fire
It is when the palms have been soiled by sand
That the mouth will be soiled by oil
The hand that is not soiled by sand
Makes the mouth to be soiled by sand
People like the mouth soiled by oil
Because it can also soil their mouth with oil
The mouth soiled by oil
Has many names, relatives and friends
But the mouth soiled by sand
Has few name, few relatives and few friends.

Tails Up

Commercial season in its full swing
boats afloat dot foggy harbor scene
we're off like a prom dress
	let's catch a mega-mess
barbs a'flyin', some even obscene

Wish 'em up! Catch 'em up! Bend the rod!
tease with the herring, but not the cod.
	weekend revolution
	curse the thoughtless googans
less than seventy-three inch outlawed

find the school of herring, find the whale
there we'll drop anchor and chum the trail
drop the bait, throw the chum
if we chum, they might come
pull the hook, hear our woebegone wail

youngsters have chum methodology
squid-haddock mix no apology
	chumbalaya soup
	up goes the loud whoop
they sing a joyful doxology!

they cut the chum and then throw it in
expecting to catch a big blue fin
	they hook the herring
	the beeps a'blaring
land the fat cow that was in a spin!

It’s a big, fat, slob – a screamer!
if it’s a shark, you’re a dreamer
	come on baby, bite me
	on the hook, excite me
it’s a blue fin clever schemer

tails up! it’s safely on the deck
all this work is for a paycheck
	pink, fat, and greasy
	some make it easy
who’s in the lead, they’re neck ‘n neck

over the rail and into the pail
back to the dock to make a big sell
	dollars, six to 28,
	900 pounder is great
turn and burn, we're off to find the whale

at end-of-day when season is done
competition end, who's number one
some were lost, some were gained
	tuna species sustained
next year, another season will run

My Dream Vacation - Alaskan Whale Tour

The highlight of my Alaskan vacation was a singular
unexpected breach of a humpback whale.

                                                         — by Poet

MY DREAM VACATION - ALASKAN WHALE TOUR

What’s a routine blubberflip, is a marvel to humans -
a breathtaking splash of epic proportions, a whirlwind
propensity to pail - empty salt-sea into the sun-blue air.

The striated humpback, in blubberbreach, sates
in eye appeal, strums in rhythmic entrainment, and
a solid gold breath erupts through the human blowhole.

Mood lighting of the sea and sky, the heavens riding
the wave of creation’s emotion - God’s largesse smiling.
Gratitude of the cruisers from this unexpected explosion

through the give way sea, the crop yielding a hundredfold.
The humpback’s beauty is in his creativity of timing, sublime
in oceanic movement, his fin-finish finer than a diver’s.

Furthermore, the cleansing of his blubberhide - ridding
himself of lice and barnacles — morass that when it lingers
annoys but triggers the acceleration to release his form

to exaltation - he swims the blessed air for a few seconds,
with flipper wings, angel kisses and applause. Neither
proud nor humble, as he pressures through the deep.

What’s a routine of man - to exercise his sea legs,
to gorge on the monsters of the sea, to breathe in
all that life can be — tremulous, terrifying, out of sight.*

Love Like No Other For Elizabeth Wesley

Smoke bellowed out the top
Of the trawler’s ships
As the merciless hunters loaded
Their harpoons with exploding tips

“There she blows,” a sailor shouted
It was a female whale that surfaced and spouted
The engines roared in hot pursuit
The Captain aiming ready to shoot
He shoots, it explodes, making a hole in her fin
She gasps her last breath as she can no longer swim

Her eyes expresses her agony and shock
Then close as she passes out and sinks like a rock
Divers plunge to secure their with ropes
But she is out of reach dashing their hopes

Then in the darkness she feels a thump
Again and a again under her she feels the bump
Her eyes open drowsily to see him struggling to push her up
A male dolphin she identifies when he swims close up

Endangering his own life he will not go up for air
She must breath first as he is overwhelmed with her despair
What seemed an eternity she finally surfaces and takes a breath
The he surfaces satisfied they both cheated death

He swims gently supporting her wounded fin
Til they reach the shore of an island call Baralin
The water is warm and shallow enough
For her to breath where the water’s not too rough

He swims out to sea where it’s warm in the south
And returns with plankton and kisses her transferring it from his to her mouth
Each time he does this, their feels grow strong
Of the love between a dolphin and a whale which will be remembered in loves folk song...

whale**

A Wonderful Thing

What a wonderful thing is an elephant,
He is savvy and witty and eloquent,
He remembers your name and he'll never forget
Everything that you said every time that you met,
What a wonderful thing is an elephant.

What a wonderful thing is a kangaroo,
She is chipper and dapper and happy, too;
She bounces and dances, she's never a grouch,
And her Joey gets dizzy inside of her pouch,
What a wonderful thing is a kangaroo.

What a wonderful thing is a wallaby,
If I could I think that's what I'd wanna be,
Though I don't know a whole lot about them, I fear,
Do they have bushy tails, do they have furry ears?
Well I still think that I'd like to be a wallaby.

What a wonderful thing is a killer whale,
The fin on his back looks just like a sail,
He can swim in the ocean so fast and so hushed
And it takes him all day for his teeth to get brushed,
What a wonderful thing is a killer whale.

What a wonderful thing is a little girl
She wears a cute bow with her pretty curl
She brightens your world in her own special way
When she smiles you get goose bumps that won't go away,
What a wonderful thing is a little girl.

What a wonderful thing is a little boy
He brings to his parents a lot of joy
And his grandparents love him and so do each cousin
His uncles and aunties all think the world of him
What a wonderful thing is a little boy.

What a wonderful world the Lord has made,
All the colors and shapes brilliantly arrayed
All the critters and planets and oceans and trees
All the seasons and flavors, the you's and the me's
What a wonderful world the Lord has made.

Night of the Full Moon

Night of the full moon

Whale fish are most adept at swimming around in a shot glass but glass goblets are preferred by dolphins whose long dorsal fin opts for wide open rimmed spaces. Stingrays desire to be seen in the most finest crystal glasses but the flat fish is only ever seen in a tumbler. Often tumbling. And giggling with pure delight. But what of ambition from all these creatures. Would they not want to swap? Are they ever content with their locations? Omnipresent octopi often offer octagonal orifices. The vertical verb of a naughty little variegated platy can vary a variant victoriously. How rather marvellous that is isn't it?
Instinct ink can inform. But ink that is mislaid, misinformed and generally mundane is confused and confusion can offer creations canopies of catastrophic chasms. Mingle in a mangle then. Up and down the threads. Obviously a straight ironed trousers. Hemmed. Could see straight through 27 pairs of skirts in rows and point out the pin marks.
Awkward antelope answering apostle ants? How quite amazing! Well it is isn't it? And the gathering of the buds upon the washing line can hang out in all weathers. Thus ensuring an even radius of elements to dry, wet then dry again. Broad shoulders of a bean. Big bloated buffalo's beating banging bongo's. Baboon laughs and laughs and laughs and lingers on leaves no more for the beat is too amazing to place himself in such a confined positional place but heated propositions from a piglet often sway the breezes. And the backwards running tap always laughs at the dandelion in flight. Because it is very very very funny indeed!
WOW
Running ruining radii ravish radishes ridiculing realities. Such reduction in a nylon beaded glove. And gloves of a geranium are often glowing and glowering at the same time. Such a simultaneous display of floral fragrant feats.

Odyssey From Africa 13b

Ch. 13 b (The whale, cont.)

Now the sardine hunt developed
As they glimpsed beneath the surface
Flashing rays of gold and silver
Of the dolphins and the swordfish

That converged with blue-fin tuna
To the swarming sardine banquet
Then not fifty paces distant
Rising from the ocean darkness

Open mouthed, a humpback surfaced
Gulping a colossal volume
Of the sardine-teeming water
Then to shrouded deep returning

Lisa and her brother Matto
Cried aloud with joy and wonder
Looking all around their vessel
For another rising titan

Till their boat was jolted sharply
Flinging hard against the gunwales
Han and both the children as their
Craft was lifted from the water

As a whale's emerging forehead
Raised them up and tipped them over
Pitching out into the ocean
Fisherman and son and daughter

And their boat, its hull inverted
Settled down into the sea foam
Han and Lisa swam together
To the boat and hold its timbers

Which they clung to as they waited
Rescue from the shipwright’s vessel
Matto had been flung out further
And they watched him swim toward them

Struggling through the foam-flecked sea swells
As the boat of Tor came nearer
But a much more grave disaster
Was about to come upon them

As beneath the swimming boy there
Formed a swift upwelling darkness
And before the shocked onlookers
Breached a widely gaping humpback

With its jaws surrounding Matto
As the monstrous throat of baleen
Swallowed up the sea around him
And he sank into the maelstrom

So the humpback swallowed Matto!
Then it languidly subsided
As a disappearing shadow
Taking down a son and brother

Down into an endless darkness
Lisa screamed in grief and horror
Han just struggled to control her
Keep her head above the water

As his heart was crushed with sorrow
Now the wave made by the humpback
Turned their capsized boat back upright
And the shipwright Tor now reached them

With his sons he lifted Lisa
And her father from the water
They embraced in silent sorrow
In the boat for several moments

Somewhere in his anguished memory
Han remembered from his childhood
An account his father told him
Of a sailor who had also

Been in likewise manner swallowed
By a whale, but had not perished
Breathing from a gastric bubble
In the whale's enormous stomach

Then had been regurgitated
Back into the ocean water
Han, in bleakest desperation
Now made up his mind to follow

A Wish For Fish and a Dolphins Swish

A WISH FOR ALL FISH

Washed up on shores around the world
Already dead, a whale, a dolphin a shark,
All marine life is suffering, the situation
Has become absurd,
The facts real and stark!
My Fairy God mother in my poem
Yes about a dress, said I could contact
Her anytime, so I made a wish,
For 24 hours I wanted to be a fish!
She appeared, and made my wish come true,
I’m sure no one has this privilege,
I’m amongst the very few.
But she turned me into a dolphin,
Where would I find this clever mammal
Especially as I was lost in swift currents,
and a narrow channel?
So off I swam to find,
My own kind!
I could understand Dolphin’s communication,
This was a brilliant revelation!
A protective mummy dolphin and her baby girl,
Swam a meter or so ahead of me, hey wait
For me I yelled,
They heard!
I think I spoke with a human accent,
They could detect my human scent!
But they seemed to accept me,
Follow us, we'll show you what you want to see!
We all dipped and dived for quite some time
As the undulating sea played with us,
I squealed and squeaked and made
An absolute fuss,
Watch out said Delta the mom, swim
Far away from that rock,
It’s polluted around there with plastic bottles,
Dirty bags and a smelly human sock,
And keep close to us, don’t follow that current
For it meets a filthy river mouth,
Which drifts, all the way down South.
The plankton and the beautiful plant life below
Has been poisoned by an oil rig which is
Just around this bend,
So make a sharp right here my friend.
Dreamy the baby began not feeling well,
She had half swallowed a small plastic bag,
This for mom raised a red flag,
She zipped what was left out of her mouth
But alas the baby was turning purple and
Was struggling to breathe, I could tell!
Do you have a doctor down deep in these seas’,
Yes we do, let’s turn around, it’s Doctor Dolphy,
As we arrived we noticed a huge queue,
A long wait was certainly due,
Every fish, dolphin and whale was there
Crabs, little sea horses, stone fish
Swordfish, sharks, tiger fish, prawns,
The doctor was swimming
Up and down this long queue, and without much ado,
Was giving them all some medicine to swallow,
Whilst a sea lion was basking in an enjoyable wallow!
Doctor Dolphy looked like our house doctor,
Doctor Turner, an elderly chap, jolly, overweight,
And incredibly kind – his spectacles kept tipping
Off his slippery nose,
How he had got them on in the first place
Who knows!
Dreamy swallowed her medicine and back
We went, the time was passing, I’d tucked
My cell phone beneath my fin, quite a contortionist,
As my dorsal fin was on my back,
And I was already carrying a bag-pack!
I had 12 hours left. I have a petition
You all have to sign, each and every
Marine creature,
I would like them to feature,
In this important literature!
That’s why I’m here on this important mission,
So that you don’t all become squish
That is washed up on some foreign shore
And become mere trash because humans
Throw their rubbish in your blue zone,
I tried phoning, but no one answered the phone!
I came to see these true dirty facts for myself
About Ocean pollution, responsible
For drowning and destroying
All life in the sea, pollution generated is vast,
Carbon emissions and plastics are choking
Fish, Mammals and plants in the sea,
This is clear to everyone including you and me.
Day by day the situation is worsening,
As our oceans are become acidified
Until they become totally degraded
Which will affect the world, oceans govern
Our weather, they are home to beauty
And absolute necessity, we must make sure
Our blue Planet survives!
I’ll be back for the signed petition next week
Towards this conclusion I’ll continually strive!
My dear friend,
Be brave, this is the beginning, not the end!
