2. "over the waters blue the night winds sigh, the breakers roar ... Samual Taylor Coleridge
Wailing wind amid strongest ocean storm
Night falls swiftly on tumultuous scene
Sailors aware for they have been well-warned
This is their reality not a dream.
Through long hours before sun ordains to rise
Neptune's wrath bombards with no sign of grace
Mariners strong, elements they defy
Lighthouse aids battle and fear is erased.
As ocean's tantrum slowly does abate
Sunrise breaks through the darkest of dark night
Yet, sailors' love of ocean 'tis innate
Phlegmatic, fearless men removed from fright.

"over the waters blue the night winds sigh, the breakers roar ... Samual Taylor Coleridge
In the enchanting emerald landscape,
the terrain undulates like the jade waves
in the panorama of pristine scene,
elegance of nature’s embrace entrenched,
shapes a serene lake of sapphire luster.
Sublimely sprawling and sparkling delight,
its glowing cerulean face looks up
toward the star-studded nocturnal sky,
entranced by its argentine reflection.
Serenading southern breeze blows beguiled,
whispers a mesmerizing melody
to ripple rows rolling with radiance,
dancing and breaking on the supine shore
with intensely fervent rhythm of rapture.
The golden glitter of the sunburst dawn
shines on the slithering shadows of trees,
lining the contours of the bending banks,
imaged on the fluid mirror tranquil.
In hypnotic shimmer of rising sun,
I watch the play of colors in the lake.

"over the waters blue the night winds sigh, the breakers roar" ... Samual Taylor Coleridge
Over the waters blue I love to sail,
many times I get to see a big whale.
Some nights the wind will sigh,
like saying oh my.
Some nights the wind seems to sing,
I can hear our ship's bell ring.
Today the sky is gray,
look we are coming into the bay.
Not much time to be free,
then back out to the blue sea.
The breakers roar,
sounding like a huge old boar.
The sea life is for me,
needing to fly like a big yellow bee.
I love being a sailor,
living in a cabin and not a trailer.

"recently scenes of early life have stolen in my mind, like breezes blown"
" Samual Taylor Coleridge "
Memories come and go of her
appear in my mind to allure
deep in my soul, they're still pure
a captive moment in time
her first glance had imprisoned me
and let my heart's fervor be free
with eyes of a lover to be
she was so beautiful
wondrous lovers before our end
when life turned a tide of pretend
our restless souls would not bend
to our different painted worlds
the price we paid was sadness
as parting became our madness
and stole the meaning of gladness
we came to understand
deep in my heart her face is froze
young, vibrant, the years never shows
her memory a long red rose
special, precious, lovers long ago

Life is not always fair,
Nor has it ever been,
This is the one thing we all share,
The fact that, sometimes, we won't win.
Getting angry is never the answer,
In fact, it makes things worse,
Like a creeping fog, or growing cancer,
Anger is a vile curse.
When **** starts to get serious,
And life starts to beat you down,
It's hard!, but don't get furious,
Keep your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground.

Earth,
Our home,
Blue oceans,
Green rainforests,
Nature at it's best,
Beautiful waterfalls,
A variety of life,
How lucky are we to be here,
The most beautiful planet yet seen,
Our Earth, it is the only one we have.

SATAN
They call him the king of the dark,
He stands tall and oh so proud,
Laughing while hovering over his tormented crowd,
He's an evil captain of an evil ark.
Do you believe in hell?
And things that go bump in the night?
The burning of flesh and devoid of light,
It's the bottomless pit with an evil smell.
Satan is not the answer,
Nor is he the question,
He steals souls without reservation,
He's the original necromancer.

The Wolf
The wolf guards her brood,
Bones of trespassers before,
Death to the unwarned!
My snarl says it all,
The wolf rules this land, no doubt,
Tread lightly, my friend.
The lone wolf unleashed,
Don’t trust the strange traveler,
Trust is never free.
The Fox
The fox senses spring,
The hound is too tired to fight,
Conflict delayed, friends.
The hound hides in wait,
"How smart are you, Miss Foxy?".
Nature in action.
The fox loves to play,
The hound takes his role to heart,
Frustration sets in.
The Coyote
The coyote sleeps,
Wild pheasants roam peacefully,
Hunger soon brings death.
Sunset brings brown death,
The rabbit tastes too gamey,
A nice change of pace.
A cry in the night,
The coyote is a force,
Mutual respect.

A Curious Mind
Is there really gold at the end of a rainbow?
This is one of the things I’d like to know,
If you get too close to a nuclear plant,
Would you glow?
If I look into the sun,
Just before the eclipse has begun,
Will I necessarily go blind?
Or is that just superstition?
Why doesn’t a ducks quack echo?
Why don’t I have the patience to learn piano?
This is what a curious mind asks,
This is what a curious mind wants to know.
Having a curious mind,
Is the best way to be designed,
Every new thing is an adventure,
So many wonders to find.

Flight (less)
Flight is a gift from God - The Bald Eagle spreads her wings
The Emperor Penguin is a novel sight,
With an crown of gold around the scruff,
Heavily insulated and robbed of flight,
Icy swims, bitter cold, these conditions are rough,
The emperor survives, despite.
New Zea land's pet bird,
Don’t eat this kind of Kiwi,
They can’t fly and are not safe,
National Symbol,
This little guy likes the night,
Smells dinner from far away.
The Emu looks like its cousin,
The Ostrich and his kin are grounded.

Touch Me – Dusk
Original Poem written for the contest:
“Touch Me Up and Down” ¤¤ Placed 4th ¤¤
Samual Ronthorpe
Dawn,
hugging,
Our Planet.
The sun gives life,
Squeezing her children,
Providing us with food,
And regulating our mood.
Occasionally, she will rest,
And allow Dusk to grip the land, Night.
Dawn and Dusk share in natures’ epic dance.
This dance of the titans flows flawlessly,
Dawn releases her grip at twilight,
And allows Dusk to take the lead,
Dusk teases the Night, “Join Me”,
Night spins Dusk, all alone,
Night brushes time by,
Looking for Dawn,
Holding hands,
Letting,
go.
