Trust implies openness
Mutual decency and honesty.
Trust is obligatory in friendship
Or romantic relationship.
Trust is based on agreement
Clear meaning of message.
Trust is core in life.
I trust you. I trust myself.
Trust is risk taker
Justify danger, warn vulnerability
Support emotional crisis.

“She is mercurial
Not flighty, but open
Rarely frivolous, but agile
A delightful chameleon, a risk-taker
She inspires others”
“Hey!” Said my cousin Beatrice
As she read these words over my shoulder.
“That sounds more like you than me!”
I was embellishing her bio on a dating website
Knowing it was more me than her
But eager to get her a match
Hoping I could stop supporting her
If she found a man

Validation
(A lone voice whispers)
Are there two types of characters in this world
To be seen
Ranging through love
To business, and everything else in-between
Those who do take risks, and those who hate taking chances, and making mistakes
Which one are you?
A.
A risk-taker
Or
B.
An idolater of stepping on the brakes
For sometimes,
Is it better to have known something
Briefly
That might have had real potential, to be truly special
Or would you rather linger lost
Forever
Taunted
By self-doubts, many whispering, red devils
(C) Copyright John Duffy
Foundation.
Would you rather be haunted by self-doubts, about taking chances?
With introspection?
Like an idolater who worships, stepping on the brakes?
Or are you courageous enough to take chances, and risk all, on something special.
With a high chance of making mistakes?
To never be lost, forever taunted
By self-doubts, many whispering red devils
Who'll appear right out of the minds, many gates?
(If you're reading this far, you must be a type A.
You have my Validation of being a risk-taker.
Hit like if you are. Salute)

Bravery
His attribute
Always doing
What others are afraid of
Very determined, not desperate
He's so confident and courageous.
Braveness
He's so fearless
Always ready
To face whatever is ahead
He's a risk taker
He's thy people's hope
Even danger can't stop him.
Braveness
Forward and onward
He's always ready
He's not a coward
Always doing the impossible
By setting new records
None could ever break him
Never settled for anything but greatness.

I had not seen her since she was a baby
her mother wanted to name her Naomi
in Japanese this meant straight, direct and beautiful
her father was holding out for Himari, after her mother
Himari means sunflower
Himari had been a marvelous little girl
a curious risk taker who loved life
she had an enthusiastic need to learn new things
at twenty-eight she showed continuing intelligence
we met, and she was polite, pleasant, and brilliant
I told her stories about her parents, and she was grateful.
She rarely met people who knew them before they knew her.
I remarked on her glorious eyes and her marvelous listening skills.
She was the best lunch partner I had ever known.
I knew I would never forget her and I never have.

a shameless bluffer
he won at poker and twenty-one
an audacious risk-taker
brazen, brave, and bold
daring to do what most would not

who lost his house to a bad hand of cards in the thirties

Uncle Wilbur said Maddie was old-fashioned.
I was thinking 50’s or 60’s
He meant a throwback to the seventies.
I had not met anyone this calm since life before Woodstock.
Maddie had glazed eyes, there was a smell of patchouli.
She was blowing slow easy smoke rings.
Her blonde hair was fashioned into messy dreadlocks
Her casual cotton sundress reminded me of flour feed sacks.
I looked at Uncle Wilbur in a new light.
I had never before thought of him as a risk taker.
This one would run away with his heart.

Mr. Gee’s ears perked up at the sound of the ticking time clock.
He held it for another second, another foot step, another block.
Was it a bomb? Would he be blown to smithereens in a bit?
Throw it! A bystander yelled. Toss it in the river! Get rid of it!
But Mr. Gee was the quintessential risk taker. Not ready to unload it.
Someone he trusted had given it to him to take care of, and he would.
An upstander yelled “Save yourself, Mr. Gee!” He was having a fit.
The rabbit held on to it, listening, hoping it was safe, for as long as he could.
BOOM!

You sure about sitting on a tile roof? Jake asked his cousin Reflection.
Jake was not a risk taker, but they had a connection.
Meet me when the moon is ready, she said and you will feel the cool.
The brick tile roofs in Arizona go down in temperature daily as a rule.
Jake trusted Reflection but he was still a little wobbly about the risk.
He was a persnickety tomcat who swept his messy alley with a whisk.
You will love it, she reassured him. I would not lie about the moon.
He planned his climb up to the roof not one single second too soon.
Reflection was already up there, meowing her heart out in the night.
He climbed up and parked himself beside her; enjoying the moonlight.
Hey! What is all that caterwauling? A neighbor asked in a mean way.
The cousins thought it was funny; he was old Grouchy Mister McMay

Rule Breaker
Risk taker, warrior maker…
Stand tall.
He is with you.
Do not fear, what they may say…
as they would say it any way,
if you were
here, or there,
or anywhere.
It is His voice,
whispering in the dark,
thundering through the clouds,
laughing in the water of the streams…
the very river of life, His blood.
I was told, “I” was being measured.
I was concerned, and then suddenly free.
I can never be counted and confined…
for “you” can never know Him…
if “you” don’t already see,
all that before,
all that is after,
all that is to come.
It is not me at all.
I am small.
He is ALL!

If I weren’t afraid, I’d do a zany thing -
something that would give my life a little zing.
Inside a private plane, I’d be flown up so high,
then step into the blue and dive into vast sky!
A parachute I’d wear - of course - upon my back.
I’d do this wondrous thing, but guts for it I lack!
I know it would be freeing and such a thrill for me.
No risk-taker am I though, so it shall never be!

The whiteness of his hair
It shows his age
As agitated as he is
It leaves you wandering
What is on his mind
He is a mystery
What a puzzle
He is a risk taker
What a gambler
He is what he grew up with
The eagerness of being somewhere
Is shown by his walks
As he wore his Jean coat with a hand in the pocket
He is holding his precious jewel
And his plan is to use it
