Outbreak of tuberculosis
Out and out ridiculousness
Outcomers who refuse inoculations
Outgrowth of a new pandemic
Outlandish selfishness and self-importance
Outrageous and intolerable
Outside of common sense
Outstandingly self-absorbed and neglectful

The flowers of hope lay trampled,
Destroyed by a world so cruel,
Mothers, whose eyes sparkled with life,
Now left shattered, a lifeless pawn,
Hypocrisy is what defines you,
A land that never belonged to you,
The ridiculousness of your claims,
Oh, so plain for all to see.
You wiped away the little ones,
Who had dreamed to do big things,
Why did you choose to kill them?
Is it their faith that made you scared?
You, the cowards, bombarded their homes,
Afraid to face them like men,
Ashamed of your brutality,
Your actions condemned once again.
And now, the stars too, have disappeared,
Gone, far away...

hoardings of shops on the isle of ridiculousness
the feral pigeons pontificate
the leaking roof of the civic theatre stays
you've seen better days
you've blundered into desperation
bankrupted twice
and now you're turning the middle
of town into millionaires row
ill afforded by the minions
even our local Market is shrinking
an ebb tide of the municipality
Westfield as vexing as a fox in chase
The Central library feels lobotomised
is it part privatised?

"The Opponent"
Something familiar
breezes across
the smile
you balk
at the familiarity
for a very short while
the opponent
opens your windows
stealth like on pause
softly
sensuously
like a cat
for a split
second
violation recognised
and blithely
dismissed as
ridiculousness
yet like an
unwelcome intruder
slides the door open
en garde
lethal
messages
despatched
and plundered
sliced, and red
the comeback
cleanly
murdered

It is most important to not hurt a cats soul
for it is the perfect balance
of nobility and ridiculousness,
be gentle with its finer feelings
they are more sensitive than yours.
Do be not laugh
if it scares itself in a mirror.
A cat is instinctual to the core,
a bewhiskered accolade of slapstick.
Clean its litter box, twice a day if need be.
It will refuse to poop on its own poop
unlike some humans.
Your cat needs attention,
it expects you to admire its coat,
its signaling semaphore tail,
its delicate pink tongue and beautiful eyes,
failure to do so
may result in fur balls in your bed.
Be warned
cats are not naturally forgiving.

My mother is dead.
Life continues for others.
I see them mowing their lawns.
Children are outside, playing, laughing and swinging.
I know how you feel some idiot says.
My mother is gone.
No more laughter.
No more smile.
No time to say I am sorry.
No time to hear I love you.
I know how you feel some idiot says.
My mother would be rolling her eyes.
She would make fun of their insensitivity after they go.
We would giggle about the ridiculousness of this stupid saying.
I know how you feel.
Of course they could not.
She is not their mother
And she is gone.

I want to wake to you each day,
fall asleep with the taste of
you on my lips
Never to be fake, to be the rays
for your sun to eclipse
Your reason for embracing everyday,
the need you have in life to achieve
Always teasing I want never
to be replaced,
the seed to help you believe
Can I get lost in your luscious extreme,
the welcoming moon in your nights
The daily cost within your dreams,
the sweet tune that brings you light
I want to cause your bottom lip
to slightly shake, from anticipation
of your lips meeting mine
The sweetness to sip in the wake
of our love, to be that realization,
not a fleeting sign
For our bodies to tremble, from the
want of the others touch
I pray it’s me that resembles the need
you want and love so much
Just laying here thinking about you,
has me craving the deliciousness that is you
I guess what I’m saying is your enslaving
my ridiculousness I've given to so very few
See I would surrender my last breath for
you and these feeling still grow
Can you promise me the same in return,
can you share with me I need to know

Bistro blowhards jump around in Johnny time
Bota bing bota bang Bota bang bota bing.
Dendrites are clicking, where did they get teeth?
Who invited them anyway? Gray matter coughs.
Fishnet stockings fairly frolic along my brain highway.
My soul shuts herself off, not wanting involvement.
I am on pizazz power; polka dotted persimmon pot pie.
No one better ask me anything or even give me a look.
What’s happening? My eyes wonder. They are on fire.
My throat is tight, wearing a girdle of ridiculousness.
I keep my mouth in a straight line, figuring out nothing.
Sharing no secrets or ideas, closing down for self-protection.

Don’t tell Donna that Ted said that Marty
was…..
If I had a dollar for every time I heard some version
of this ridiculousness today, I would not have to
come to work with these gossip mongers.
Ring. Ring. It is Linda, the bookkeeper at the next desk.
She cannot turn and talk to me, because she is
telling tales about Sheila who sits less than ten feet
behind us.
I laugh politely at the end of the tale, hoping
she will let me get back to my bill-paying. But no,
she now has a story about Jacque.
Off the phone I write two checks. Brring Brring
The supervisor glares at me. We are supposed
to get the phone after the first ring. It might be
one of our vendors or our stores. We pay bills
for a chain of stores.
I grab the phone. It is Jacque, who is telling me
stories about Linda. None of them nice ones.
They both want to sit with me at lunch, but not
with the other one at the table. I slink out with
my lunch and eat in my car again, third week in
a row.
The supervisor comes out and raps on my window.
I roll it down about an inch.
"You are not supposed to eat in your car," he tells me.

Her text said “I love you with my butt”
Unfortunately, she sent it to the wrong person.
He has been sending her obscene photos all morning.
We know it is someone in the office who knows the boss’ password.
We are all laughing in a loud stupid way, loving the ridiculousness of it.

The life of our gallantries
Risky is my everyday devotion
Serving for the nation
Chanting my military incantation
Sacrifice my life and image to my nation
Sparking to burn for others
To Safeguard mothers and fathers
Fighting for sisters and brothers
Forgetting like we don't have closer's
You spend time with child and wife
I spend mine with my gun and knife
Your hustle for a colourful life
I struggle for your safety life
Many died in this world of infantry
While some died in line of duty
Stored in refrigerators of mutuary
My name constantly bear fallen military
All those are not dearly and scary
Remembering those days of mockery
I shout to ease boredom and loneliness
But you called it cheating and foolishness
It's neither drugs nor ridiculousness
To me it's my way not a craziness
We always remained loyal to order
Following the lead of our commander
I feel proud in camour and even bolder
We are family regardless of who is older

He says caw, caw, caw—yes he crows
With roll, pitch, and yaw Branson goes
My space ride’s high price
Makes me feel oh so nice
Though it takes the earth's health to new lows!
Author's comment: Apologies to Peter Pan who crowed about feeling good (I've gotta crow). Using earth's resources for a joy ride for the rich seems odd considering the state of our planet, but the mainstream media did not cover the ridiculousness of the endeavor. It's likely quite harmful to the environment and moves effort and focus away from critical challenges. Looking at Richard Branson's body language carefully, I can't help but feel sorry for him. He doesn't strike me as being happy, but a joy ride might help as a short distraction. BTW, I wouldn't go on his plane ride, even if he paid me.

Eyes think they see me.
They see nothing.
No one.
Some think they do.
I smirk at their ridiculousness.
I am invisible.
Ears think they hear me.
They do, but they do not get it.
My meaning is known only to me
Because what I really mean is held silent.
I cover up the real words,
Not trusting them.
I am covert.
Hand reaches out to shake mine.
I yell “Six feet!”
Pretending to be someone I am not
So they will not be able to get close.
I keep them away.
I am in charge.

Joey was way too intense.
He chased me on the playground when I was in first grade.
He caught me too; and I remember how intense he was.
He told the teacher he was going to marry me.
I was angry as hops! How dare this second grade stranger.
I could not believe it!
The nerve! The audacity! The ridiculousness!
What an idiot! I was only going to marry my Daddy.
I stayed away from him for years and years.
We became best friends when I was a freshman.
We parked at Lover’s Lane and smoked cigars,
Making fun of the lovers in the other cars.
Watching their steamed up windows, laughing at them.
When he went to college, my feelings changed.
He came back and we sat on some swings.
He began to talk about what he saw when he looked at me.
He saw children, a home, a family. I ran for a year.
After six months of college I appreciated the way he looked at me
Like a dog looks at a T-bone. I was looking at him back this time.
That was nineteen seventy; we were married in 1971.
We are still married fifty years later, and he still gives me puppy dog eyes.

Let go the the past, it's so over and unflinchingly dead.
We walk in its rotting gardens with hearts full of lead.
Your dream, didn't come true as you wished?
Write it on paper, and burn it in a silver chafing disH.
So sorry your expectations went up in flames.
Stop the ridiculousness of hunting people to blame!
Get out your drawing board and make new plans.
Santa is not coming, so grow up, be the very best
woman or man that you can.
