Words won’t tell how you make me feel
Sincere love your light does reveal
Words can’t describe your amazing
You’re someone my heart keeps praising
Words can’t depict your gentle grace
You’re a warmth my soul can embrace
Into your eyes, I keep gazing
You’re someone my heart keeps praising
Words alone can’t portray your worth
Your beauty shines across the earth
Clear as my passion’s blazing
You’re someone my heart keeps praising
Words can’t express this love inside
You’re a feeling that won’t subside
On fields of love, hearts are grazing
You’re someone my heart keeps praising
Words will never explain your smile
You’ll sing of this love in a while
Does this feeling need rephrasing?
You’re someone my heart keeps praising

It's straightforward enough to be the Cheshire Cat grinning.
A stroll in the park to smile when you're winning.
But when you find yourself irked and cursing the weather.
You're unconsciously encompassed by the Fundamental Attribution Error.
A theory purporting it's mostly all luck.
Like getting that pay rise, or our wedding ring stuck.
Carefully eluding unnecessary confrontation and hate.
Then declaring a million and one times you don't exaggerate.
Attempts to train the mind not to be bitter or pious.
A desperate evasion of this confirmation bias.
Blaming others for misfortune and ourselves for the good.
A rephrasing of stereotypes to see things as we should.
Whilst rejoicing achievements is admirable and just.
Take a second to pause, exhale, reflect if you must.
Content to live in the moment. This moment right here.
With freedom of cognition. With our mental pathways clear.
To be kind, where possible, in all circumstances.
A non-judgemental stranger throwing uplifting glances.

Couplets, Of Rhymes And Repeated Heartaches
Deep, lonely and darkened,
Life so goes with withering hands of Time,
Gasping, harsh, slow drying winds,
Blowing to create a most morose clime,
Shivering, aching, and cold,
Oft as lost as a river tumbled stone,
Caring, sharing oft despairing,
Listing dark deeds to now have to atone,
Recall, repeat and rephrasing,
Verses that somehow this poet's heart mends,
Inspiring, expiring, firing,
Ink words that predicts what future portends,
Waiting, skating, and baiting,
Fate to admit we're enemies not friends,
Sifting, shifting and crying,
That if love fails, life another one sends.
R.J. Lindley, June 3rd, 1983
Couplets, ( of rhymes and repeated heartaches )
( As Fate, chooses its victims with deep, and sadistic glee )
Note:
Woe unto man and all of his sweet dreams
Fate, deciding differently, laughs and scoffs
tho' one may wade awhile, cool flowing streams
such Life may with a Fated curse cut off.

Partners in Prose
I am addicted to the drug
of writing poetry with you
for we were destined to create
our stressed out syllables to mate
collaborating with such grace
not having seen you face to face
of all the demons to be slain
in anger where we must abstain
and hero worship penned with vain
and poignant battles weighed in woes
rephrasing as a change in clothes
adventures in our poetry
as partners you align with me
a slower pace will be refrained
and nee’r can its essence be drained

Saw a sign in a fast food stall in our local mall
“Tables are for eating customers only” I was really appalled
Kinda barbaric I'd say
But tasty in a soufflé
Perhaps rephrasing would save one life however small

I’m chasing some idea, within this idea
Swimming pools of diarrhea
Insulted by thought, that isn’t my thought
Temporarily happy from something I bought
Praising a system
Embraced policy
Rephrasing wisdom
Edited fallacy
If I am the joke, I don’t seem to get it
On the inside I’m broke and will probably regret it
I suppose I’ll have to wait and see
This doesn’t feel like comedy
I’m thrilled by sights I can’t unsee
Nihilistic from magnitudes smaller than me
Somehow the kitchen is part of my soul
The things in the closet have taken their toll
