Premium MemberNothing Seems To Last Another Collaboration With Eileen and me

This Is a Tanka written by Eileen Manassain and reimagined by me by
adding every other verse in order to create Lyrics we could put to music.
please visit Eileen recent page and enjoy This poem in it's original Form.
I want to Thank Eileen for the privilege of working with her on these poems

Nothing seems to last
The present now the past
flowers weep faded petals
Like flaking paint or rusty metal

A faint scent lingers
Upon the barren tips of fingers
once blooming in bright color
Now appear quite smothered

My poems have lost their appeal
No longer things seem real
emotions wither
And darkness comes hither

Wilted words whirl in the wind
Until they blow my way again
bereft of beauty
Void of duty

I strive to remain rooted
In a world so polluted
hoping for droplets of love
Droplets from above

House Keeping

After she left the house for realities unknown,
abandoned rooms became discrete spaces
fully occupied by her thoughts.

Buses still stop two doors down,
sparrows hop over the stalks of dead roses.
Road dust carpets, then is windswept away.

Eventually, Girl Guides selling cookies
scrub her address off clipboards.
The mail has begun to forward itself
to nowhere.

The house whispers to passing pedestrians,
It calls to migrant cats, homeless mice,
indigenous tribes of Carpenter Bees.

A face on a billboard is planted in the yard,
prospective buyers enter and leave,
none move in.

Her spirit returns for a while
to inhabit the once lived in.
half-heartedly she wanders
over her own footsteps,
does not stay long.

Her arthritic presence has moved on
to a place, a safehouse for the forgotten,
where grab bars and access ramps
are reimagined and improved.

O Brutus

O familiar stranger tormenting my mind,
Why do you hide behind the veils?
Why did you act so apathic when you stood in my presence ?
Why do you strike me from behind as a vermin?
And cut through my flesh masking your face.

You deny me your identity until my last gasp.
You, a wolf hid as do sheep in my flock.
A camouflaged enemy in plain sight you were,
But vicious was your unforgiving strike.

As I lay in my pool of blood ,
And choke on it , I whisper breathlessly;
Alas, I have met my mortal end.

innocence memorialized in candlelight
as we sit and dream in its gleam
of flickering and playful flames
timeless and free flowing
finding each other in the midst of longing
vigilant in the rapture of a touch
reimagined
ritualizing the oneness of our being
connected in the purest form
within the glow of warm light and soft wishes
without the barriers of the tick-tock clock
endlessly - breathlessly
lost in love

I am Seraphim voyaging to descend
Spanning the lake of invisible water
A spindrift of twirls of huffing wind
Falling-in Fall leaves gathered on a rusted altar
Blissing in delicate spirals I bend
Just where the river ends
Exalted and brilliant within intangible halos
I light the world then setting slow
In golden hues I fade then falter
Sublimely reimagined I do delight
To evaporate into the glow of night
Painting the moon with vestiges of the coming day

The moon risen high, over
    the burial vault of the sun
  to the accompaniment of fireworks

Christmas reimagined by who…
not Horton nor Whoville
but Doctor Who

A bride vanished from altar
Her reception,
hopped up with Santas and a tree

Ornaments’ revolving, lifting,
evolving into bombs

Jitters, not the groom or bride

A network web

the complex

Racnoss wrapping
sweet gifts

not at all nice

House Keeping

After she left the house for realities unknown,
the abandoned rooms hollowed out
small discrete spaces for her to rest within
should she ever return.

Buses still stopped next door,
sparrows hopped over the stalks of phantom roses,
Eventually, Girl Guides selling cookies nixed
her address off their clipboards.
The mail began to forward itself to nowhere.

The house tidied up the way den denizens do.
sifting through mites and squamous dust
for signs of her in-dwelling mind.
It found non-intrinsic parts of her
which it glued to the stale air as her likeness,
yet this remembered facsimile
kept dissolving in puddles of moonlight.

The house began to whisper to passersby’s.
It called to migrant cats, homeless mice,
indigenous tribes of Carpenter bees.

A face on a board was planted in the yard,
prospective buyers entered and left,
none moved in.

The previous owner came back for a while,
She occupied the new spaces
pleased with the improvements.
Then she left the house
riding upon a starlit stairlift,

her ghost moving upwards to a safer premise
where grab bars and access ramps
were reimagined
in a newly renovated sky.

Caught up in broke and broken
operating on what we can;
Ready to rise by your own bootstraps?
Or fall, never to be reimagined;
No answers with a diagnosis
ask if humanity is worth saving;
Vitamins flood a prescription we should know ;
It’s a dangerous money making machine;
Redefining lifestyles can change everything;
Understand you have a choice to stand up;
Stop feeding pharmacies instead of yourself.

Premium MemberSpirit, Like a Rose

Sometimes, my spirit blossoms like a rose
Opening up full petal to quietly reveal
Its fragrant presence in my languishing soul
And relishing the sweet scent of perfume
Beckons to me come nearer and revel
In its awesome glory. Cautions me, too,
To avoid its sharp and piercing thorns.
