Ignorance is bliss said the uneducated Miss
Take the tiger by the tail, and then give a hiss.
A snake in the grass thought outside of the box
You can’t judge a book by its cover, said the ox.
Like a kid in the proverbial candy store
Good things come to those who wait said Moore.
In the nick of time there was a loose cannon swarm.
All together it became the perfect storm.
Cliques are like cans of worm said a tiny newborn.
But like all God’s favorite things, every rose has a thorn.
Grandma said, “The apple does not fall far from a tree.”
She was referring of course, to that arrogant baby, Little Lee.
What goes around comes around, Daddy interjected.
That’s the pot calling the kettle black, Mom said, feeling rejected.
No sense in beating a horse to death, said the uneducated Miss.
The grass is always greener on the other side. She blew them a kiss.
There are plenty of fish in the sea, they told Uncle Hank.
But now he felt dead as a doornail, he was sweet on Miss Lank.
He must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed someone said.
If only walls could talk! Hank lamented. His face was quite red.

I would give an arm and a leg to see him, she said.
She was going to meet a new guy by name of Ted.
Only time will tell if things will turn out okay.
I am weak as a kitten, I heard my friend say.
At the end of the date she had the time of her life.
She expected this guy Ted to make her his wife.
I said, I hope you did not speak of your crazy short leg.
No, she nodded. I avoided that like the plague.
I took the tiger by the tail, she told me smugly.
Thought outside the box, called myself May Puggly.
There are plenty of fish in the sea, I reminded her.
Just in case the expected outcome did not occur.
It is as plain as the nose on my face she said later.
He was not much of a man, a notorious dater.
He is now as dead as a doornail me, that hack!
Was she actually the pot calling the kettle black?
Time sure did fly when I was having fun.
But now that he has stood me up, this creep had better run!

The pot calling the kettle black
Is like a sock in the shoe rack
The black cat crossing the road
X the window lest something explode
Ain't life grand with all its fables
Knocking on wood sitting at the table
Don't step on the sidewalk crack
Lest you break granny's back
So much fun when you was a child
Watching the adults really go wild
As Granny turned the car around
Finding another route to get to town
Cause a cat decided to cross the road
Scared something in life would implode
Licking her finger to mark the x
Just so she would not be vexed
We would laugh and call her nuts
Being caught up in these little ruts
And though we thought it to be lame
We would wind up doing the same
I'd love to see it once again
Granny and her x with her grin!

Avoiding work like the plague is my main aim
Picking the low hanging fruit sounds very lame
The least I can do, at the end of the day
My hope is that this dog will have his payday
Critics will say it’s a shame and call me slack
It sounds like the pot calling the kettle black
You really don’t have to read between the lines
It’s not hard for you to find my clever rhymes
I believe laughter is the best medicine
I open doors to thoughts like a gentleman
Then I just add some kids from the candy store
and silver from a lining for a bit more
I live outside the box and find there laughter
I live for the happily ever after!

There’s a poet who thinks we are not
such great writers, yet she’s not that hot!
What that smarty pants spoke
was like saying to coke,
“You’re illegal” when SHE’S like pure pot!
For the the Dumb and Dumber Personal quotes Poetry Contest
I always liked the expression "The pot calling the kettle black"
but because of its racial overtones, a guy did a blog in which
a person identified as Celyn came up with this alternative more politically
correct quote: "Like the pot calling the coke illegal." It really struck
me as clever, and to me it went really well with this situation that I
describe in my limerick, which, sadly, I have seen more than just a
time or two, here at Soup.

The word liar is a part of life everyone knows
Every human has lied and the more they deny it the more it just grows,
Calling someone a liar is like the pot calling the kettle black
Be fore you say; you are a Liar and yes I said that
If you look in the mirror you will see a liar staring back,
I never have claimed that I have never lied before
Remember this we all have lied and that is something you can't ignore.

In the early
morning hour
enjoying earth and hour
even writing in the faint light
The birds speak
Sweet peace here
To all who will listen
I only recognize
The sound of the Gull
Those that are in flight
Speak to me
Did God program joy
into their ability to fly?
Do they long each morn
to catch a breeze and sail?
Do they chirp in Joy?
First the Seagulls dot
the sky coming from the south
headed north..
Then the heavy odd-shaped
Pelicans(that is like the pot calling the kettle black)
fly low over the nearly calm waters
headed to north end of the isle
What if I could join their flight?
Seagulls must be early risers
Out to get the best spots on beach
or to get the best food scattered on shore
Pelicans must be night owls
they fly low like a slow sunrise
taking their time to reach their
little piece of property up north beach
Now earth and sky seem to meet melting into each other
The moisture laden air seems to saturate my being
What a morning to enjoy God's Good Earth....
