Pot Head

There’s a poet who thinks we are not

such great writers, yet she’s not that hot!

What that smarty pants spoke

was like saying to coke,

“You’re illegal” when SHE’S like pure pot!


For the the Dumb and Dumber Personal quotes Poetry Contest

I always liked the expression "The pot calling the kettle black"
but because of its racial overtones, a guy did a blog in which 
a person identified as Celyn came up with this alternative more politically
correct quote: "Like the pot calling the coke illegal." It really struck
me as clever, and to me it went really well with this situation that I
describe in my limerick, which, sadly, I have seen more than just a 
time or two,  here at Soup.

Robert Candler June 4, 2015 at 4:57 PM In days of the origination of the saying, pots and kettles were made of cast iron and both became blackened with use. There is no racial overtone. Rather, it is more akin to the proverbial sinner accusing another of sinning, as if he himself were not. Not all mentions of the word 'black' are racial in overtone unless one chooses to see the word and the world in such light. Andrea Dietrich June 4, 2015 at 11:28 PM Robert, I agree with YOU. But a bunch of idiots have put that stigma on this favorite expression of mine, and so I thought this new take on that old expression was a good one to use for the "dumb expressions" contest!!
