OF FOOD AND WARRING
(A TANKA QUIENTET)
Juxtaposed bombs fall…
Food’s down, starvation rising…
Death…collateral…
Thus, war’s new reaping of death:
Food uprooted and destroyed:-
Food’s an enemy,
Seeking to eat, deadly:
Starvation killing:-
Thus, be war’s new strategy:
Piled skin covered skeletons:-
Ironically,
All this is merely Breaking News!
War’s politicking:
Pontificating power;
Not nourishing peace and love:-
May these fruitful thoughts
Excite your hunger for peace
And its divine love:-
Not living in peace is bad.
Not seeking to is much worse:-
Let’s not be sorry,
Rather, in our awareness,
Let’s get rid of war:-
Where there’s no peace, wherever,
There can’t be peace anywhere:-

There once was an old Pope from Rome
who had the Good Book a huge tome
an altar ego and mass appeal
so he made the Vatican home
2015 he addressed the environment
on climate change caused by man
and issued a Catholic Church encyclical
the first-ever since Popes began
let's trust instructing his cardinals
to avoid any more scandals
when pontificating and preaching to the choir
to burn less incense and light fewer candles
altho' it's a slippery slope here's the dope
and no I won't soft-soap
there's not much hope of Pope on a rope
but I can cope so I won't mope
now hear my voice as it's a choice
if I may be quite so bold
religion is discretionary not hereditary
and the herd of sheep in the fold should be told

In natured wording,
In what season can you say,
“Never say never?!”
It’s said, “God never leaves us!”
Never will this not be?!
Never ever stop
Fighting for liberation;
No, never ever:-
Such audacious wordplay;
Saying, “Never say never.”

Worries they have none
Turning the country into poverty
Hush your lip
Isms aren't working
We cant talk freely here
They tell what is good for you
In this septic isle
We expect to listen to the expectancy of truth
we are the refrain
Pontificating people
They don't talk for me
And Labour has left out on emancipation
Disney Land has come to town
Who pays the Life guard
we are all drowning

Unadulterated social illness
follows outbreaks of mental mania.
We stagger after each crazy outbreak
make firm resolutions and plans
nothing helps.
Causes are multifactual, faceted,
it's all very complex and multi-actual.
Psychotic instances bloom
some are dead by noon.
Pontificating politicians
bark impolite, condemn
and castigate
but it all has the feeling
of being far too late.
America has blown its brains out;
death is getting old
some are looking for the gun,
some reload.

You can't march dirt from soiled laundry –
one needs a strong detergent, and several
cycles of rinses. You can't vote dictators
out of office – they do the counting, generally
counting the people out. The world is in a
fix; America in the mix. We need our, so called,
representatives in Washington to gain a backbone...
and not just ring their hands while pontificating –
or are they all so conflicted themselves, that they
dare not do their jobs?
Evil devours Evil! In time a powerful,
ruthless person, decides to do good for
the people – just to get the masses on
his side. So the seat of power can be
transferred. Sometimes a group of well
to do individuals, tired of politics
as usual, have an epiphany...and an
America is born!

If I were Famous What Would I Do?
If I were to become famous
Here’s what I would do
I would appear on CNN
24/7 pontificating up a Storm
I would have a podcast
A YOUTUBE channel
And I would have an entourage
Following me everywhere
And each night
I would make love
To another woman
And have a harem
Of erotic delights
Waiting for me
Every day
That is what I would do
If I were to become famous
For being famous

Sweet Astrology and Self-Assured Astronomy went for a little walk.
Astronomy said “Glad we can have this little self-respecting talk.”
Astrology sighed.
Astronomy tried.
To self-promote his science, pontificating during every squawk.

I hear their almighty roar!
Lions pontificating on the Senate floor.
I see wolves prowling the House chamber;
Howling to create a national anger;
Media circus masters have them controlled,
In the big tent they’ve both extolled.
Matters not who is in the majority;
Expanding authority, always the priority;
Acts restricting freedom and prosperity;
Do not represent my constituency;

Truth bubbling forth as from a mountain spring.
A gem set in gold resting on purple velvet,
“Better a smooth step than a smooth tongue.”
He rotates his posterior to the world,
While his eyes are transfixed upon its reflection,
Body impacts a light pole without anticipation.
Mouth pontificating.
Heart petrifying.
Soul putrefying.

Working at looking studious,
the academic went his way
Pontificating what he didn’t know,
his students bowed and swayed
Reading only what was duly sworn
writing safe, within the shelf
To himself was he now smitten blind
—an intellectual elf
