Premium MemberA BLEND of EYE with MIND pointillism

dot.. by dot..
frozen forever
as a ‘still-life’ shot

juxtaposed
into our eye
colour flows
     into shaped
palettes
   of the fleeting
made permanent

a point
   becomes
     an impression

Love
Slips through labyrinths of tangled spirits
 Complexities and conundrums of misdirection
Released by prophecy,
Like clairvoyant fingers of misty sunshine
 in two planes
  sharing one minute.

Love reaches beyond boundaries of fluttering flesh -
A bridge point of lyric pointillism
With the rhythmic respirations of one breath
  Inhaled,
   Exhaled,
    In poetic unison.

Love exists
Beyond mortality of bone and sinew,
Not begging for crumbs
At the prophesied banquet
 The festival
  That rains clear jubilees
   On every exuberant heart
    Reveling in its ecumenical caress
Wrapping cells, bound in time,
 With never aging,
  Time released,
   Pulsing plasmas.

Love dissolves membranes
In transdermal hands of blessing
 Showering polka dots of zest
  On the skin of souls
Transfusing showers of tenderness,
 Ardor
  And affection
Into ever borning present – never past –
 Seeds
   Planted like ephemeral timeless sunlight
 Without minutes
  Or astral lines

Love
Leaves permanent footprints
 All at once
  And
   Everywhere.

Dot to Dot

. 2 . Point to point
Painting life by the numbers
A moving chorus line of choice
Random patterns spurned
Unbroken pointillism paints a soul’s portrait
In shades of shadows and sunlight

. 2 . Day to day
In a sanctuary of measured stillness
Sunset and sunrise on a calculated thread
Sun and moon follow precise lines of gavotte
Like a moving celestial stairway
The pilgrimage of each morning and each night

. 2 . Mile by mile
Plumb line for restless steps
Stepping stones of revelation
Crossing over potholes of quick sand
Passing detours of indiscretion
Wisdom’s oasis marks each passage

. 2 . Note by note
Winsome, plaintive, joyful melody line
Rises from the deep eternal’s depths
That reads each note as written
One voicing after the other
The song of each life stitched together

. 2 . Line by line
Stars joined with silk filaments
Sweet ambrosia of constellations
Fiery guardians in strings of astral confetti
When north stars and southern crosses
Make paths through our tangled valleys

Vincent Willhelm van Gogh
a difficult talent to truly know
unwise love choices-Eugenie Kee&Sien
made him stick to brush not pen

Finance support from brother Theo
loosed his giftings to flow
in dark landscapes&still life
too bad, without a  wife

From Ecole de Beau Arts a matric
In Antwerp he creates his pics
Then to Paris to mix with the best
lived an artist  life with great zest

Upon the death of Pa Theodorus
Vincent does portraits&busts
as his love life to Margot ails
so also his pointillism fails

He then met Agostina Segatori
& a brief affair the world did see
An interest in all things Japanaise
then to Arles were the sun does blaze

The artists colony  was not a success
Vincent cut off an -ear-but I digress
progressively VG became deluded
'a mad redhead,'the locals said

Genius & delusion marries as one
but a recognisable usp is done
with broad brush& wavy line
a reputation to outlast his time

In Arles he is hospitalised
&unique art realised-
then with a gun suicides
on canvas though his genius resides

Pointedly poignant points portend pointillism.
Pontiffs pontificate pointless pointers ponderously.
Pompous poems populate Pompei pottery potently.
Porous *********** portrays Portuguese porta potties.
Poppies pop Popeye’s popular popcorn.
Populist populism pots ponies properly.

Blithering blather blots bloody bleeping blips.
Bloomberg blogs bleach bleating bloated blinks.
Bluebloods bloom black blackberry bloopers.
Bluetooth blizzards blame blurry blackboards.
Blithe blighted bladders blatantly block blades.
Blazing blasts bleed blooming blenders.

Fumbling fumes funerals fast.
Feuding fluid furniture flutters flaps.
Fighting flatulent flamingos flounder.
Floating flotillas flee flying flops.
Families foment future futile forms.
Freaky frozen French fries frighten frogs.

Like a Seurat painting
I view my life up close
and see a million tiny colored dots:
       eating breakfast
       driving to work
       writing a poem
       watching television
       playing a game
       singing a song
going to the park on a Sunday afternoon

You view these dots
from the proper distance,
blend them together
with kind, generous eyes
and you see art

(an ekphrasis poem after the pointillism painting "A Sunday Afternoon
on the Island of La Grande Jatte", by Georges Seurat, 1886)

a moment captured

                                 deeper than a photograph

                                             a breath

Night Green

night green
in my Rembrandt pencil box
is green shade
sharpened
it is a pointed pencil presence
part of a pointillism
part of the paper
part of the picture

night green
in my Rembrandt pencil box
is green shade
not a light green
not a leaf green
not a yellow green
and not too blue

night green
in my Rembrandt pencil box
is green shade
the unknown in every mark
such as the shadows cast
upon and around
as the unconscious past
lives within the dialogue of life
and is only sometimes noticed

but the light not so bright
without green shade

Premium MemberTop Dressing

spring stitched the horizon
budding with French knots of red
			and jade and gold
the underpinning of branches
 began to disappear
as the surface danced
with pointillism

kelly-green cuffed the lawn
daffodils were pocketed
in among the satin threads
		 of pine bark mulch
	temperatures fluctuated
and though a layer of white snow
would still lace the collar of mother maples
it was merely winter’s last kiss

impossible, truly impossible it was
to dress for spring

This etheric energy;
free-floating mist,
out of time and mortality;
a pointillism portrait of soul, is infinite.

Lifetimes spent in many faces and places;
collect omniscient knowledge;
the vault filled to capacity;
somehow has room for even more.

Intermingling atoms spill across time and space;
soul sweeps the cosmos and fills the vault with,
spirit-gold.

Mind within mind, is the perfect marriage;
the blend coveted by lost souls;
mind nectar eliminates all thirst.

The right path, taken with blind faith,
sparks soul-growth’s light
and illuminates the shining nuggets;
draws them like magnets;
expanding the All.

One tribe in the ethers;
where the journey ends;
one is all and all is one…eternal…tribe.

COLD WAR ARTIST

The art of such intention is fatigue
At living lies outside the scope of death,

To wear in the last blitzkrieg
A shroud meaning artist, a wreath

Of columbine in the hair, but the kitchen eyes,
Carbuncled knees betray the giver’s art.

Down on the doorstep, she’ll scrub your lies:
To her gift of total self she’ll add a part -

Your own tongue sliced and severed on her plate
Of 20th century design – taste

The dust of pointillism, the cubist fate
Of newspaper and cello here embraced –

The emptiness filched from the master’s past:
Mankind’s death wishes, home to roost at last.

Artful

I scaled the heights
and crossed the genre over
Rock and Pointillism
Springstein and Seurat
on dotted i some critic cries
aloud echo canyoned schism

to each his own
we together bemoan
separation of our malaise
individuality's good
'long as it's understood
we're all different in artful ways

the beholder can only seize
on concepts predisposed to sight
the I's of art that you appease
each concept I hold despite
my own presupposed expertise
that much art leans toward contrite
or worse, tries not to displease
some need to be artfully polite

art is what you say it is
who am i to tell you
that your idea, your creation
is not worthy of the tag of "art"
so shake my sensibilities
shock my gentilities
move the foundation of my soul
make a hole, drop it in, make it whole
