The truth is that love is never true
It's illogical, it makes no sense
Why me? Why you?
Why us, who just happened to collide
It matters not whether we passed or failed
the tests of truthfulness or falseness
Whether we conformed to what
love is mean to be, or what others have as love or say it is.
Whether our love is accurate, reliable,
lasting, resilient or steadfast.
For the truth about love is
it's blind, incontestable, incomparable,
incorruptible, unerasable.
Love is delightfully uncertain.
For its impossible to measure or calculate
love's exact status and momentum at the same time.
Who cares anyway?
For love is just plain silly!
If I but had the basic raw nerve and wit
I would show a few folks how to do it:
“Write a line or two with good rhythm and rhyme”
On Poetry Soup, however, that would be a crime!
We have some folks who write marvelous gibberish
If I may say, but, of course, I’m being somewhat devilish;
On the other hand, I have tried to understand their verse
Reading them frequently, they’ve gotten worse and worse!
Interestingly, they are convinced they write like William Shakespeare,
But truth is, nothing about their poorly-written, so-called, poetry is clear,
Misspellings, poor syntax, and lack of a discernible theme
Well, now, they make me throw up my hands and scream!
May I suggest, if you are remotely caring, get up to speed
Please, take time to read some great master poets, indeed!
This is a poetry site, or so I have been led to believe
And, with effort, writing good lines is easy to achieve.
Tossing random words onto a page willy-nilly
And calling it poetry, is simply plain silly!

Let's pretend, that life is one big joke?
We will end up in stockades,like pigs in a poke.
Laughter is enormously great therapy.
Yet some prefer jokes to reality.
Guffaws won't help you if your nation goes Commie!
So what's the deal...to make everything hey,
nanny, nanny?
Some shrink or smirk with sweat filled brows,
Unwilling to read any poetry except those
about marigolds taking bows?
That's fine,we need poets like that here!
But being afraid of reality is nothing to cheer!
Realists get labeled, or not read here??
Plain, silly, nonsensical, and immature outright
.fear.
As nutty as the cancel culture, banning Snow White!
Heavens, he kissed her in her sleep is no rape
plot nor plight.
Telling young children they have no sex?
Wrong! You were born with an X or Y
chromosome, by heck!
Write as you choose but don't ignore others.
Who have the courage to speak, while others
like fantasy covers.
Respect points of view, other than yours if you
can.
No matter our point of view, love one another,
respect the poetic family of man!

Since a child I have had a need to share, to
write conversations to an invisible audience; and
I can get quite wordy and chatty and rambling, I
have no problem sharing private thoughts. At times
my writing is flowery, pretty and picturesque, Oh
I can turn out a whimsical and joyful poem; and
sometimes my style is clear and ever so confident,
even informative, or just plain silly and foolish fun.
But, to be honest with you dear reader my strength,
is in mournful, lamenting and woeful sad writes;
writing of my fears, grief and heartbreak is healing,
it helps me, I hope others see they are not alone.
Oh, I can also turn out a sultry passionate poem,
full of lust and love, or just of gentle sweet feelings;
and I like to write of the past and my family lost, no
telling what I will write- my pen has all the power.

There is nothing like a good haircut
which may appear shallow from
a certain point of view
but personally I prefer nicely shaped hairs
Yes. It might seem
narcissistic
superficial
frivolous
and just plain silly
Really, though, is hair unimportant?
In the cosmic scheme of things
that's quite possible
actually probable
certainly true
But we're not talking about importance here
This is about . . .
let's face it . . . self-image . . .
everyone needs a good one, I'm told
You're quite right
Outward appearance
may be immaterial
not worth our concern
But darn it,
I want to look in the mirror
and at least be satisfied with my tresses
