Each fragile dandelion Orb of feathered, tiptoed seeds
Invite Curiosity's breath to loft your prosperous needs
Anchor away La Pinta, La Niña, cast off Santa Maria
Heave hoe your Astrolabe Star ward to map Nirvana
Sail well past your daunting precipice in daring abandon
The Perils of Earth's plate, let emptier thoughts imagine
Be bold. Lift in weightless step. Jump ship to board Apollo
Hitch a ride to wander in imagination the coming tomorrow

Amanhecer
Na terça,
logo no
amanhecer
a mulher
Bella & Vaidosa
agita a alma,
com o pó,
pinta a prosa,
perfuma a rosa,
faz do pouco,
a proposta
generosa.
Mais e mais,
ascende a arte,
anseia o alto,
acalenta a parte,
desde o amanhecer,
faz mais
e mais.

Come candlelight, tango with me -
Your bittersweet, tri-colored braid,
Dramatic, stealthy, twined esprit.
Your piercing angst, my eyes invade.
Your bittersweet, tri-colored braid -
Blue, orange, yellow sizzling flame.
The piercing angst, my eyes invade.
O mi amor - you are not tame.
Blue, orange, yellow sizzling flame
Your pinta of wax - cold and hot.
O mi amor - you are not tame.
Stilettos feel the burn, the plot.
Your pinta of wax - cold and hot.
Dramatic, stealthy, twined esprit.
Stilettos feel the burn, the plot.
Come candlelight, tango with me.

'Six slices a day is the well balanced way'
the boffins back then told us all,
but now I'm not impressed, they say 'wholemeal is best,
and more healthy' their clarion call.
For a good spirit lifter, an evening snifter
was, we were told, good for the heart,
now they say fourteen units (down from twenty-one)
in a week keeps you safe, if you're smart.
'Drinka pinta milka day' the adverts said,
it's good for the teeth and the bones,
now 'half fat, low dairy' the choices are scary
I may well just leave them alone.
Our family had chips cooked in gallons of lard,
spread dripping and salt on our toast,
bacon ate with the rind, and no scraps left behind
gravy made with the juice from the roast.
We ate this sinful food with no qualms or remorse
and left the table feeling full,
those boffins may be right but I think, with hindsight
that their lives must be terribly dull.

Quero compartilhar o que eu descobri:
A realidade me leva até aqui ou alí;
O sonho me permite ver o que ninguém mais enxerga!
Isso é mágico!
A imaginação
é o papel sobre o qual pinta sonhos;
A inspiração junta realidade,
sonho e imaginação como um vitral pintado!
Com imaginação,
De repente
tudo é claro de cores:
brilham histórias!
Isto, sim, que é para nós!
Sonhar, imaginar e inspirar!
Crescer e prosperar!

LAS NAVES DE MEDERA (Wooden Ships)
They wanted ships. What they got
was wooden shells
not a farthing from the Crown
for these floating buckets.
Six thousand corks, hastily riveted
into the keel planking, kept them afloat.
Nina. Santa Maria. Pinta.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained said Isabella.
Ah, muchacho, would she ever cash in.
The navigater shot the course
over the main, visions of tapestry and lace
and all sorts of spices in his head.
Gold? Well--Sí, oro.
But he never dreamed.
The natives appeared naked and restless.
In scatted shades of blues and reds,
artists painted skirts on the girls,
long shirts on the old women,
loincloth on the men,
and a pearl studded gilded robe on the king.
Which Chris promptly stole.
His mistake was trying to hide it
from Isabella.

Lonesome George is Gone
The Pinta Tortoise breed is no more
He was discovered in 1972, six hundred miles from Ecuador.
He was the only one left the others have died out
They tried to breed poor George but he was no sex lout
They tried and tempted him with females, all tortoises but not the same DNA
But lonesome George was uninterested, he didn’t want to play.
100 hundred years old, they thought old George was when he did die
I’m not sure - but I don’t think many men would even try
I think it may have been the strain of tempting him to sin
Parading females round his haven waiting for him to get stuck in.
Many men would love it, that I do believe
But poor George couldn’t get it up their frustrations to relieve
They say he died stretched out perhaps, he had a go
But maybe she got fed up waiting, and decided she would go.
Not wanting to hurt his feelings and telling him not to worry
Perhaps she was getting bored and told him he should hurry.
Poor George they will not leave alone they will necropsy him today
I wonder if anyone thought, poor George may have been gay.

Lonesome George is a Galápagos Pinta Island Tortoise.
He's not an endangered specie. His situation is worse.
Lonesome George is the very last of his kind.
His ancestors were basically slaughtered by the likes of mankind.
Feral goats on his native island had devoured most of his vegetation.
Now he lives a life of comfort and safety at the Charles Darwin Research Station,
but poor Lonesome George will never have any future generations.
There's aren't any females of his specie to pro create any more offspring.
Although Lonesome George is still with us presently
I was compelled to create this memorial in honor of he
with the hope that they who may give this a read
will take a more serious out look about preserving our endangered species.
There is no greater sin in my opinion
than when human kind plays a role in any specie's extinction.
The only up side from all of this that I can see
is that Lonesome George will most probably out live me,
but when Lonesome George does eventually pass on
his entire specie will then be forever all gone.
No more of his kind will anyone ever again see.
The Galápagos Pinta Island Tortoise will be history.

Sparkling, empty blue sea
sails break the distant horizon
first one
then two
finally three ships making way
toward unsuspecting shell-gatherers
brown-skinned and naked on
the hot Caribbean sand
Had they known
they could have feigned friendship
Then slaughtered them all in the night
Burned the great ships and
been done with it.
At least for a while

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
In the Pinta, Nina and Santa Marie
He found the New World,
And got spooked by a squirrel.
Thats the last you heard of C.C.
God had created the New World.
And saw that it was good.
In mystery it remained covered,
Till Columbus came and discovered
Just as his Lord knew that he would.
He sailed with the blessing of Spain
And when he dicovered the land,
He named it after Amerigo Vespucci,
('Cause he had not yet heard of Gucci,)
As God instructed him beforehand.
