Pertinacious Poems | Examples

Willow Tree

Weeping Willow tree, no sun can shine through.
Nothing can grow beneath you.

Because of your rapacious roots, nothing can grow around you.

Your grievousness is your companion.
You stand strong against strong winds,
yet, you weep because no fowl will perch
in your pertinacious thickness.

Its an old saying,
stubborn as a mule
The old Italian
yanked,
and the donkey said,
"now that ain't cool"

To write this piece will be strenuous.
It could become downright arduous.
For it is a task quite rigorous.
So, despite the fact it may be onerous;
To the point of being tortuous.
The poet remains truly zealous.
In actuality he is punctilious;
Combined with being tenacious.
He will remain fastidious,
As well as conscientious.
To the end he will be sedulous.
He writes because he’s pertinacious;
That by being extremely assiduous;
This poem will turn out glamorous.
Despite the attempt to be scrupulous,
It seems the content may be mucilaginous.
Hopefully to have read it, was not laborious.
Perchance did you find it hilarious?
To write any more would be superfluous.
You need not be so supercilious.

Being persistent
By Miracle Man
October 12, 2020

Some choose to think I’m a pertinacious man,
others think I’m a prisoner of rigid thinking.
If you wish to describe me as “hard headed” you can,
I’ll accept your assessment and remain unblinking.

Let God be your refuge and strength each day,
let Him light your path, and His word become your way.

Crushed

In their eyes a disingenuous dream, pertinacious pestilence in their stream,
Solitudes sanctioned in their scheme, sacrificial surrenders in their scream…
Hearts contused crippled and crushed, of their voices hindered and hushed,
Landscapes forgotten and flushed, bruised, and battled for death has brushed.

In their world, a cataclysmic crumble, as they rejoice in a homeless humble,
All surrounds their squashing stumble, traumatized in a tenebrous tumble…
Hunger a friend through the night, an empty shell awakes the morning light,
Ecumenical echoes that do excite, as pious pretenders plague their plight.

Subdued souls within a shameful storm, trampled tears of their nomad norm,
Against their will, they must conform, white gloves command in a sinful swarm…
Vanishing views in their mist overpowered and oppressed in a tangled twist,
Will their love ever be missed, for we are all God’s children upon His midst.

Why is it the intransigent
find the intransigent
to be pigheaded, willful,
inflexible and pertinacious?
Engaging, as it were,
in an endless “tug-o-war”
neither side allowing
for consideration of
the fallibility of the inflexibility
of calcified recalcitrance.

Stags, horns locked,
dying on an empty stage
bleach-white bones
rattling in an unfelt wind.

Fossilitis Ignoratious

If your ego is capacious
Or your appetite voracious
For a plucky, pertinacious
Confidence in cherished creeds,
Then your genius, though sagacious,
Conjures arguments audacious
Never seeing they’re fallacious:
Truth be told, you’re in the weeds.

Your disease: a contumacious
Predilection for tenacious
Relics of the late Cretaceous
Buried deep within your soul.
Now the clash of clues vexatious
Shows your self-made strait hellacious;
Still your will proves efficacious
To maintain your status quo.

In the face of facts veracious
When your mood is disputatious
You remain unfazed, pugnacious,
With your slowly dying breed.
Your rebuttals wax loquacious
To escape the perspicacious
But they seem a mite mendacious
To the few who pay them heed.

Though my grousing is ungracious
And my rhyming ostentatious
I won’t stoop to be salacious
For the horror’s grim and cold:
While your heart still soars flirtatious,
Charmed by pterosaurs predacious,
Laxness leaves your brain crustaceous,
Drying, hardening in its mold.

The Echoes Within

The Echoes Within

I am the pertinacious child of dauntless demands,
The frightened child of explosive hands.

The enchanting warmth of a midsummer's day;
The deserted breadth of comforts age.

The inquisitive bustle of delightful charms;
The hunger of a world alarms.

The silent whisper of loving kisses;
The ABC'S of Hershey's Wishes...

The Smallest Calf

The Prince was wicked pertinacious,
picky to the 'nth' degree,
inclined to be quite perspicacious
when considering Number Three.

The first had sadly disappointed,
not come up to scratch, you see,
and number two was ill-appointed
for a run at royalty.

His Princess must be slim and cracking!
all the things a bride should be;
the first two had been sadly lacking,
weighing in at 203!

And the Prince was quite the ' leg man,'
boobs and bums bored him to death,
skinny 'gams' got his attention,
drove him wild, he'd gasp for breath!

Number Three was pert and potent!
slender legs her argument, half
the size of each opponent,
her big edge? the smallest calf!

              ********

...a challenge to write a poem with this particular title,
   I deliberately avoided LIVESTOCK!

The Smallest Calf

The Prince was extra pertinacious,
picky to the 'nth' degree,
inclined to be quite perspicacious
when considering Number Three.

The first had sadly disappointed,

for a run at royalty.

               *******

the challenge? To write a poem with this exact title.
as you can see, I avoided livestock!

Morning Cafe

The red leatherette like frozen waves
in a sea of coffee'd air
Cold, plump so early,
there's Formica caught in its glare
Filling slowly with private dreams
while lunch time salad waits
coffee, sweetened, creamed
croissants slipped on plates
If I owned a monochromatic camera
I'd watch the procession of the phoney
Some days it would make a difference
some days it might feel lonely
The door opens like a grave
allows in the stabbing cold
The young not bothered much,
unlike the weak and old
See one is talking the other waits
to say something pertinacious
One is waiting while the other talks
ignoring a crash of dishes
“Would you like a refill sir”
No honesty not even there
All the sugar in the world,
won't change her blank dead stare
In the corner an old man sits
newspaper shakes in dark annoyance
The headlines spoke of eastern dead
while he fights arthritis

It Is About Time

IT'S ABOUT TIME What are you waiting for?
Take up your dream and start the journey like an eagle,
Soar to every nook and cranny until you reach the pinnacle,
Don't forget to wear your confidence as a missile,
Because fear will definitely be an obstacle.

You have sat for long.
Stand up and start the race,
Don't think about others' lanes, focus on your provided space,
When you are reaching gradually, don't let pride take humility's place,
But remember it's just by grace.

You have been thinking for so long.
Stop and switch on your vision,
Look through and watch your ambition,
Don't let it be a still birth, let accomplishing be your mission,
As you take a step, be pertinacious and never lose concentration.

Why doubt your capabilities?
You have a dream as a tool so why be a pessimist?
Skepticism is a foe to success so be an optimist,
As far as the Almighty God exists,
You will achieve every item on your success list.

Grandmother

Grandmother By Saiful Haq:
Skinny Skin Bloomed with Wrinkles,
Overshadowing her dimples,
Staring with Aghast Eyes,
Expressing herself in a fatuous Noise.

Credulous to lavish promises,
Melodramatic to laziness,
Pertinacious in her religious beliefs ,
Punctiliously attending her colleagues.

Torpidly trekking with a wooden stick,
Very Prone to being sick,
Showering her blessings diligently,
Is the patriotic head of Our family.

You’re loathsome in your pertinacious ways.
Your courtesy goes and your rudeness stays.
Can’t you find other means to make money?
You’re a big nuisance, and it’s not funny!
I don’t want to buy what you have for sale.
If you call back again, I’ll kick your tail!

Premium MemberUsed Car Salespeople

You will see this phenomenon from day to day.
Salesmen are selling in a pertinacious way.
When you come in, they jump out of their seat.
As a customer, it is you they want to greet.
They try like hell to put you behind the wheel.
Each vehicle in the showroom is priced as a “steal”.
Do you feel high pressure? There is no doubt.
If you first walked in, they want you to drive out.

They are under much pressure themselves by their bosses.
If no sales, then there will be job losses.
They have to move all the metal off the lot,
and sell for the most money everything they’ve got.
