Premium MemberBetty's Ready

Archie Arbuckle yearned to sample

Betty's breasts that were more than ample

He flinched when he saw 'em

Then pinched 'em and pawed 'em

Oh my! What a lovely example

She giggled, cuz it tickled his lust

As he wiggled and jiggled her bust

His affection won't lie

It stood up and said "Hi"

I'll take one for the team, if I must

A Palm Reading

The chimp stretches its arm,
a small hand, palm up under my chin,
fingers and thumb supple,
a pink-pawed sharing.

It’s a palmistry offering,
if only I had the skill to read it.
There is a lifeline.
It looks a lot like mine
if my hand were his.

I see a heart-line,
it seems open and flowing
as if this ape were following
another meaning of ‘heart.’

The handler moves on.
I check my own palm,
note the similarities, even see
an indistinct squeezed crease,
where the heart line bifurcates.
A sign, but of what?

And why does my hand
look like an old map of the moon,
while his looks like the hand
of a poet?

Premium MemberA Book of Etiquette

     a book of etiquette
       for my new pet
     though given with love
       made her upset

     she pawed it around
       forced it open
     then shoved it away
       not like I was hopin’

     perhaps I am to blame
       for thinking a cat
would prefer a good read ~
to a live mouse or rat

An elegy to Mr and Miss Puffy

Miss Puffy when you died ,dead did I feel
Left my mind dazed with a hole in my heart
You had heart problems It felt so unreal
Wanted to die that day my poor sweetheart

Mr Puffy your death feels me with dread
Bleeding from the mouth, you so did scare me
I rushed. to the vet,he said your cat’s dead
Didn’t do things right, my fault, I do plea

The vet said my cat did die of heat drain
Mr Puffy pawed me the day before
Did my laxness cause your death and my pain
I checked out the bugbears I surely swore

In cat heaven I hope you’re happy too
If reborn, a better owner you get
Mr Puffy forgive me I love you
Then you’ll be happy I have no regrets

Criss Crossings

Halfway along a train of thought
a single passenger, just you,
as nimble as a soft-pawed cat,
stepped out onto a deserted platform.

Out of my heart,
a great rocket of desire raced away
into a half-dressed sky.

It may have been your floppy hat.
and your pink shoes that caught my attention,
yet it was you, your appearance
between the hat and shoes
that caused my mind to gasp
like a swimmer coming up for air.

I think we were both surprised,
both caught off guard like that,
both bemused and aroused
in the same timeless vision.

We had only moments to smile and wave
before a flash of gunpowder blooms
derailed us both,
but it was so worth it.

Premium MemberViolins

Violins plucking strings
of horsehair, satin ribbons
violet violate a dark
foresaken world
like a beautiful dream
romance unravels
the sweet pain
comes undone
then those wild horses
dance macabre neck-to-neck
racing all the way home
for want of a better country,
these beautiful creatures
limbs racing all lathered
opening wide
and unconquered
plunder new territory
in the red seeded seat
royally the hidden thing
beats like a machine
underneath the skin
a ripe juicy red apple
no cherry pip
feeds the mind of
marquis de john donne
and dorian's sybil vane
gone all wrong

Violins the shape
of a woman
the music inside
her intense jungle
prowls around
like an exotic
soft pawed purring
black leopard
something wicked
or wonderful
in the garden
this way it comes
the soft satin
that binds metaphoric
minds like wrists
the will to resist
comes undone
something wicked
or wonderful
in the garden
dappled in shadow
shining and hidden
like a solitairy secret
like a morning star
this way, it comes

Premium Memberanimals trick or treat

I know, “Let’s go trick-or-treating!” the schnauzer said.
Said the cat, “You must be completely dead in the head!”
Pink bunny was jumping around in circle with glee.
Ebony bat said, “If you do it, you have to take me!”

They decided to do it on this October Halloween night.
They dressed in costumes meant to humor not fright.
Went house to house and got no carrots, but candy.
“I love this!” said the candy-eater, schnauzer named Randy.

“I wanted lettuce or carrots,” the rabbit lamented a bit.
said the bat “You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit.”
Pink bunny got eaten by big bad wolf along the route.
Cat ran off with a well pawed Tom, rabbit continued to pout.

Premium MemberAsk the Cat

Ask the cat, the old man said, she is in charge of me.
“Do you have a dime for us?” asked the family of three.
The cat stared them down, she was trained you see.
To save the old man from giving money to thee.

She is my savior, my heroine, my best friend, the old man said.
I hope we go together, for what would she do if I’m dead.
The cat yawned big and pawed a pattern out on his head.
Unconcerned about death, home, heaven or her cat bed.

Blood Waves

Heated by sun and rock
a mottled snake licks the morning air.
Last night, stones were its eyes,
a blood-chill had frozen the flavor
            and flicker
of tongue and taste.

The daylight is already sun-crushed,
                              heavily it crumbles,
dry churning a scant green
to withered acres,
grinding all beneath its hermetic heel.

A rabbit runs a racetrack behind its eyes,
long whiskers sightlessly search
reaching far from their hidden hollow,
its brown pelt dreamily brushes over
                                a rounding horizon.

Snake uncoils, breaking boulders of blood
between warming bones.
A cage of hoops unlocks a hunger.
A blushed mouth is snugged around
translucent fangs,
    bodkins that smell out
all small-pawed scrabbling’s.

Rabit ears twitch as eyes leap awake,
it hears the serpents lithe unhinging,
senses its scaled unclasping.
An immediate pulse quickens,
vibrant tendons of awareness
                          animate joy and fear.

On the quiet breath,
visions of life or death arise
          as speculative ghosts.
Now the sky must record
            while the earth forgets.

Premium MemberRed Dog Remembered

A wrestlers kapi pup born in the town of Porapoo
Red Dog~The Pilabara wonderer with lurid tales' legion
A bold spirited canine he, an Aussie through and through
Roaming free the red earth of the wide Northwestern region

He pawed a ride with John, an iron miner, when lost.
They became close mates, good sports to remember.
But drinking and poker took their grim cost.
John was gunned down in 'ts, the first day of September.

Now as Red Dog roamed quietly unconsoled
Cars, buses and trucks offered him rides, hugs and food.
For his hard-luck story had been told and retold
With good Aussies determined to brighten his mood

For the rest of his days Red Dog roamed about
Stopping cars now and them for food and a ride
His loud flatulations signaled 'twas time to get out.
With nature his friend and kind folks who abide

Pilbar mourned with muted disbelief,
When the poisoned body of Red Dog was found
A bronze statue stands for friends to bow in grief.
May Red Dog rest well in his much-loved native ground.

Premium MemberRed Dog

Red Dog an Aussie of Gypsie proclivities
Pawed rides through the Outback without civilities
When he wished to depart
He let rip a grand fart
Then jumped from the car with much facility
                                              by Robert Gorelick

Red dog the regular hitchhiker
Once leapt up behind a bike rider
The driver rode fast
Until he got gassed
And Red dog flew off in a hyper

Cold Sky

winter wolves have eaten the tulips
the wind has pawed and pillaged
small dogs strain on their leashes
a summer storm has ice in its veins
warner airs arrived too late
to save the groundhogs litter
bitter are the fruits
                  of this fanged season

Premium MemberForgiveness Still Prevail

No one repented for what they did to you.
You've been unhappy since that day.
As you're well aware, this is a major outdo.
Extricate yourself and admit their reply anyway.

They stranded, estimating you'll fall down.
This claimed partner just pawed you as prey.
Still, hate and gall won't let you go around.
Allow yourself to wane and accept him anyway.

You feel ashamed when you look in the mirror.
You estimate your errors, nearly every day.
The pathway of living will indeed be clearer.
Even if you don't cause the fractures anyway.

Premium MemberBlack Cat Eyes

I saw a black cat
Sitting on a window sill
Playing with a yellow moon
The moonlight yarn
She pulled and pawed
It seemed as if the moon
Came undone from her spool
Shining sparkling yellow thread
The witch working on her loom
The black cats, eyes yellow
The moon nestling, I presume!
