Pancake Meditations

"Will I grow to be much fatter?"
I wondered as I stirred the batter,
"and, if I do, what would it matter?",
as the pancakes, they grew flatter.

Pancake

The circle widens slower and comes to a stop. 
Bubbles form on the surface - and then go pop.
If it looks like it's shiny and it's still wet, 
it probably isn't quite ready yet.  
I think watching it is really a trip -
watching and waiting for the right time to flip.

A Pancake is a Pancake

You can call them flapjacks.
and you can call them hotcakes,
You might call them johnny cakes or griddle cakes or crepes.
I don't see the difference that it makes. 
They come by many a name, 
but a pancake is a pancake
just the same.

My New Old Mourning Routine

There are tears mixed 
into the pancake batter
sun is still obfuscated 
by the window shades
without sunshine, I still 
wind up a morning person
Tobacco clings to me, 
where your scent would be
sewn with many memories 
into the mesh of myself
a premature family crest, 
stained and worn

The new day shows 
only one outcome remains
the eggs are runny,

National Pancake Day

When in the mountains at our cabin during our summer stays
we are happy to honor and to celebrate a host of special days.

If we’re blessed to be in the mountains enjoying the clouds the sun the sky
we happily celebrate some special days that fall in June and July

My Pancake Concoction

I sprinkle corn in my pancake batter.
Not enough to make the pancake lumpy
but enough corn, that I taste it.
Topping off my pancake with peanut butter
and butter and maple syrup
and maybe a touch of whipped cream
just in case I need another bit of sweet

Pleasure Palace Princesses Pancake Peacock and Powerhouse Pig

Pretty pancake peacock pointedly persuaded powerhouse pig
To publicly plan porcupine’s playful pink planetary probability placement.
Pleasure palace princesses provided puny particulars providing big
Porky plebes who placated porcupines, poking peacock’s replacement.

A Pancake Moon

I tossed my pancake
Right into the sky
I looked up and saw
It stuck to the night
A perfect round
Done just right
Glowing with syrup
As it perked me up!
It tempted me alright
Have you ever tried
Tossing your pancake
Into the open sky
It inched closer to me
As it grew very fat
I held out my plate
And it dropped 
Just like that!
