The Real Christmas
From Black Friday to Christmas Eve,
presents to purchase and wrap.
Office and family parties, visits to relatives
platters of food and gallons of alcohol.
Trees dressed to the nines in dangling baubles
and twinkling lights.
Continuous Christmas carols blaring from radios
and loud speakers.
Wreaths and decorations to adorn tables,
night stands, credenzas, book shelves.
Lights hung in strings so large that rows
of houses look like runways for planes.
Inflatable Santas, snowmen, reindeer and nutcrackers
compete for space in yards.
Nativities, pageants, plays special music
consume congregations.
Is this the real Christmas?
Or perhaps it is-
A silent night, two thousand years ago
in a dimly lit cave.
A babe wrapped in woolen clothes
lying in a sheep’s feeding trough.
Only shepherds and loving parents
in attendance.
An infant destined to change history.
The future savior of the world.

The fresh round-faced babe wears a teeny ribbon in her hair
Did they attach it with a bit of glue or what?
It is the only indicator she might be a she.
Little girls in Sunday school have ribbons on their socks,
Their collars, the edges of lace on their dresses
Their satin sheen shines up nicely, sprucing them a bit
Boys are not eager to get ribbons unless they are Iowa 4-H boys
Entering their livestock – lambs, calf, sow or steer in a fair
The white green and yellow ribbons do not mean much
But the blue and purple ribbons give them much to smile about
Girls are growing up, entering pageants, wearing a fat vertical ribbon
Saying Miss New Jersey, Corn Queen, or Pancake Princess
Brides dangle ribbons under their bridal bouquet
Ribbons are memories, tucked away in albums,
Brought out to admire when nostalgia prances about.

Eclipse of Sun is quite a sight
since for a while day looks like night
when moon moves ‘twixt the Earth and Sun
and over light the dark has won
or seemingly in visioned sleight.
That syzygy alignment might
in past have given grievous fright.
Yet now we know ere has begun
eclipse of Sun.
These days this marvel can ignite
excitement of supernal height
with mise en scènes our senses stun
in pageants not to be outdone,
while world continues on despite
eclipse of Sun.

"All a man really wants, is a girl who looks good in a bikini." - Jack Freestone
New Jersey feminists burnt bras to send swimsuit pageants up in smoke,
Iranian women drove along mountaintops, daring the wind to loosen their hair.
Colleagues in Canada removed high heels but still towered over counterparts,
tennis players trimmed dresses so they could run, fought to change white to red.
Felicity cut her hair, #nomakeup became self-care,
a mourning Queen wore black, AOC ‘taxed the rich’ on her back.
Geishas sang and danced, more than mere servants to men;
through Coventry rode Lady Godiva naked, bravery rarely seen before then.
Women have always worn their battles, embroidered their history into lace.
So, when to save lives, we all covered our supposed selling point - our face -
surely, we can do better than want only a bikini for over half the human race.

No manger scene at city hall
or caroling at school,
no city workers stringing lights,
come on, you know the rule.
No pageants of the savior’s birth,
we wish not to offend.
No prayers of thanks made publicly,
these laws we mustn’t bend.
No decorated Christmas tree
with ornaments all shiny
to be displayed on public land
or the ACLU gets whiny.
But Merry Christmas anyway
with joy to last the season,
just be careful what you say
and now you know the reason.

I remember the anticipation of Christmas
Days passed so slowly as excitement filled the air
Practice for special Christmas pageants at church
Worrying that I might forget my part in the play,
Listening while plans were made for Christmas Day
While feeling that something could prevent a visit
From Santa. Lots of talk about being extra good
For Santa had been known to deliver lumps of coal
To little boys and girls who had been naughty
How awful it would be to find nothing under the tree!
Excitement mixed with apprehension, even fear
That the thing you wanted most wouldn’t be there,
Even though you had been warned it was awfully
Expensive, and “Santa is short on money, you know.”
Hope was high, especially as we shopped for small
Gifts for family members and marked off the days.

Not from glitzy stars do I perfection espy,
Nor Moon's struttings so wondrous deem;
Your unfeigned pulchritude's glittering eye
Illumines every dark labyrinth of my heart.
Though Sun's poses such lustrous gleams
Upon haughty crags her gaudy rays repose,
Your Nature-gifted orbs their mimicry dims;
Bestowing brighter beams upon my course.
And let flaming meteors dead and live alike
Their ersatz grins roar across mutest skies;
Such intoxicating blazes your beauty wields,
Which polite nerves past sanest refrain tries.
Should celestial pageants their fairest cast below,
Your most natural stunts would eclipse them still;
Peerless rules that unpretensious angel-like glow.
For, why orbiting dims where reigns genuine light?

A rental car ought be comfy
not crimped, cramped or bumpy
Oohs and Aahs ~ save them for pageants
Roominess now mine; you keep the combatants

Alumnus of prestigious J J School
With an artistic bent super cool
Brought up in Mumbai amidst hardship
NCR was his abode brief
Thus suited to all metros here
Full of ‘fine heart’ everywhere
With model like handsome mien
A man of party umpteen
With much coveted BFA
Organises beauty pageants in sway
‘Larger than life’ skills innate
Overpowered all hurdles I state
Founder of Creations NK
What a way to make hay..!
Today being his birthday
I wish him come what may..!!

Swimming beneath a sunless sky,
Cherished melodies, serenade yours truly
Redolent of freshly baked loaves
Sun flare glistening on cinnamon skin ~
Graceful, striking dragonflies
Perform angelic, graphic aerial pageants
Brilliantly versed, competent displays
Flamboyant minuscule Red Arrows,
Slothful, reposeful disposition
Concealed beneath a thermal burrow
Happiness cannot be purchased ~
Brewing destined to be found
Such as the lost, buried treasures of Lima

For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring--
For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring
Pageants are gorgeous,
And so are you.
For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring
white radiant view
hosted dead flowers
For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring
await rain showers
ones are rare,
For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring
Mirrors are shiny,
Views from the wet rain roads
Robespierre and ants run for cover
For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring
Sunflowers reaching beyond the depths,
Up to the skies,
Your sunlight is dazzling picture risk,
sparrows soar past your eyes.
For My Gorgeous Fresh Spring

#45
Donald Trump, an American businessman
owner of beauty pageants and high rises
a billionaire with a flamboyant personality
became 45th President of the United States.
His campaign; fraught with controversy
accusations of sexual misconduct
for which he made a public apology,
yet the left was certain Hillary could win
not realizing that Americans were tired
of the run-of-the-mill politicians
tired of the lies and broken promises
tired of not being heard.
In the end, Donald was victorious
and promised to make America Great Again.

Child-like enthusiasm at Christmas time is not easily duplicated.
Hearty laughter surrounds a family reminiscing about other Christmases.
Rich pastries, cookies and candy only found once a year decorate a table.
Imaginative glimpses of future Christmases are in the forefront of newlyweds
Santa Claus cannot overshadow The Son in the homes of the reverent
There are Christmas headbands, sweatshirts, necklaces and earrings bringing joy
Many people are working to bring cheer to the needy, sick and homeless
Angels decorate Christmas trees and church pageants on both hemispheres
Sharing and caring in a Good Samaritan way make this week truly special
