a millisecond -
like one grain of sand among
all the universe -
history’s hourglass running
on earth and other planets
now imagine this -
all those gaps as one big void
spread out over time
a void which measured would be
one trillionth of unblinked time

Ye might be feather light, lean or leafy,
You scarce can a spot kiss in a jiffy,
Till a bird be of flight
That flies faster than light,
Jiffy is a birdie a bit iffy.

Jiffy is equal to about 33.3504 picoseconds (one trillionth of a second). Now, to reach anywhere in a jiffy one must travel one centimetre faster than the speed of light. Can you?

Traveling in reverse to right all the wrongs,
Into past days rushing to stop those hours of pain,
History kneeling in shame before its future,
Knowing its yesterdays must answer to its tomorrows,
Each human seeing their one trillionth of responsibility,
Multiplied by brother and sister into a mountain of sorrow,
Pleading to turn back a living clock already unwound,
Dreams buried in yester years that never came true,
Loving so many that they left so carelessly behind,
Only worth measured by gifts of happiness bestowed on others,
Stumbling over heaven bound cobblestones laid thoughtlessly downward,
Unaware of poor crawling faces straining to look upward,
Necks serving as steps for those too richly religious to break them,
Scaling cliffs that once were oceans they came from,
A world spinning backwards into an oblivion called Hell.

"A poem to me is the essence of any thought,
Being built from its foundation into tower scraping sky.
It can fly like no other bird to places never seen,
Even spaceships can only dream of taking its place."
