Gray Blue, by Lisa Norton
Gray skies. Gray cement walls. Gray gravel. Gray emotion as I lead myself single file into the long line that yet again stands before me.
Yellow shirts. Yellow skin. Yellow anxiety within the veins. How can it be so lonely in a place so full?
White pads. White eyes. White teeth. Nothing is so white as when remembered. Purity lost. The white cloud has long since passed.
Brown plastic. Brown squares. Brown rectangles. Their corners are soft. The delivery of process is rude, yet the sentiment is understood.
Pink Polish. Pink nail. Pink singing on the neighbor’s radio. There is never silence. Silence offends the slightest offender.
Black print. Black boots. Blackened hearts. At least I pretend. No point when all advantage is taken of remote beauty here.
Red eyes. Red sun. Red uniform. Everyone face the wall. Don’t look. Do not make waves in this red sea of animosity.
Blue spirit. Blue thoughts. Blue as LeAnn Rymes sang. But he told me, “the skies are bluer”. Ahead, the clarity is awash. Blue days.

"Every sunrise gives you a new beginning and a new ending." Norton Juster
****************************************************************
Sunrise at Early Morn
With the rise of the sun at early morn
Darting silver rays as from break of dawn
Lush leafy trees sparkle on distant hills,
Cane plants shine with gilt tints in nearby fields
Flowers open their petals to the sun
Bees dance in the midst of blooms seeking fun
Birds start to hum their cheerful morning songs
Hop from branch to branch clutching on along
Some grass to shape their nest atop a tree
Or just flutter in the calm air carefree.

January years ago, confused far away I was with the cold.
Landed in Bristol on a snowy airport, as snowed were the meadows and frosted my mind.
A trip to say hello and goodbye to a beloved one,
taking my hand, she closed her fading eyes into her last sigh. I saw the dark face of life
turning into the beauty of an angel flying.
Sad and freezing with a bag full of mixed feelings, somebody took us to Norton St Philip in Somerset, just to have some fun. My husband and I were surprised.
Feeling blue we were, but soon the George Inn changed our sorrow into happiness.
Family shared moments for the history of our lives, photos in the white snow for a new album, nice food and a toast with white wine in the George Inn, made my trip to England a especial memory to be remembered forever in my heart.

Information for seeking, using, and critical thinking
I ask. Are you ascending or are you slowly sinking?
This question I sincerely ask of you, too
Are you protected, or is your subscription fee due?
McAfee, Norton, or Kaspersky
to shield your computer
You're eager to protect
worldly information and even pass
it via a router
But what about that magnificent primordial mind?
Yes, that beautiful gift from the divine
Why have you neglected it?
When like the computer, you should
be protecting it
Boot Sector, Web Scripting,
and Browser just floating around
There is one goal in mind and that's to
infiltrate and pull down
Hack, hack
Hack, hack
Crash, crash
Then there's no more computing
You didn't secure antivirus protection,
So what are you disputing?
Two
Yes, two!
Passive or Active
Free or captive
Malware up to no good
Active is on but are you checking
as you should
'Cause both should work as a team
Covering and protecting every virtual stream
Active and Passive should both be at play
Yes! A collective defense against destructive
things that are out for prey

Charlie Norton has expanded
Ever since his work was seen
And favourably commended
By an Equerry to the Queen
He’s added Panto Dames instruction
With an optional modular course
For white faced clown technique
And lead end Panto Horse
This coupled with existing stuff
Has pushed his venture to the fore
And Charlie’s mind is working
On this and so much more
He’s been invited to the Palace
Where he had a spot of lunch
With Charlie Windsor and Camilla
And others of the royal bunch
The Prince’s trust approves
Of Charlie and his scheme
And opened him an off shoot
In deepest trendy Cheam
And it is rumoured seriously
That the Queen’s old man
Wants to learn to tap dance
In pumps and Coat of Astrakhan
Life is so exciting at Charlie’s
School of Armoured Acting Parts
And Charlie is considered
To be a man of many arts
It says By Appointment
Over the front door
Can any theatre school
Realty want for more
But not resting on his laurels
Charlie has a further plan
In providing correct training for
Portrayal of The Invisible Man
The Charlie Norton School;
Of Modern Theatrical Art
Can give your career
A high powered start

At the Charlie Norton School of Performing Arts
They only taught armoured acting parts.
They had a special maintenance man
Always kept busy with his little oil can
Keeping the suits free of fleas
And all the joints moving with ease,
Especially the cunningly concealed vent
For the disposal of excrement
And the removal of noxious gasses
Which even the refined on occasion passes.
Trying to learn lines could be hell
When surrounded by your own trapped smell.
In the event of a dearth of suitable parts
They taught other non performing arts
Like sweeping leaves away from drains
In the event of torrential rains.
As this part of the course was free
It didn’t carry its own degree
But for the elite chosen few
It could be a unit of your NVQ.
The Charlie Norton School of Performing Arts
Gives your career a powered kick start

The walls were thin
The music was loud
Drowned by the whiskey and gin
They stomped upstairs with heavy boots
They made me shudder from tip to root.
They were a noisy bunch
With a Dog that barked all day long
And fell off to sleep when the party was on
Imagine my plight we had a big fight
They laughed with glee and taunted me
They called the cops and did not relent
When I asked them for the rent
They were my tenants who sealed my fate
They lived on the floor right above me
They were the famous Norton Family.

I have forgotten the name of.
My friend who knew things said it was because
the man wanted egg and bacon for breakfast preferable
of the fried kind.
It is annoying they have come to fix the internet and
I keep thinking of the painter`s name especially of say
“Late night at the diner” How can I forget yes, I blame the internet?
it has made us lazy, just look it up don`t bother to think.
I wonder if my friend still thinks the man in the song only wanted
breakfast?
Was it Edward Norton?

Warning, if you are under 60 you may not "get" some of these.
Mohammad Ali
taunting with poetry,
his opponents he'd zing
as he danced 'bout the ring.
Graham Kerr "The Galloping Gourmet"
oft with our minds he would play.
Why else would he pick
the dessert "Spotted Dick"?
Ichabod Crane
rode down rode down the lane.
From the Headless Horseman he'd flee
while on his saddle he peed.
Abbot & Costello,
two funny fellows
were very immersed
into whose on first.
Ed Norton
couldn't laugh without snortin'
which would quickly annoy
old Ralph Boy!
Professor Irwin Corey
told confusing stories,
You'd listen and listen till your eyeballs would glisyen
and not understand what you're missin'
Don Rickles
would offer a nose full of nickels
and got plenty of yuks calling you a schmuck
and dumb as a hockey puck.
Giuseppe "Peppino" Mazzullo,
the voice of Topo Gigio
on Ed's final night
said "Eddie, kessa me goo' night!"
Jack Benny
wouldn't lend you a penny
nor spend a dime -
died when he was 80 at the age of 39.

Speak the words on winds and castles
Speak the words of vanished emotion, stated in the framework of our lives
For complete is the structure of regret, and the makeup of its opinion,
Come hear a sound for salvation's sake, held in desires rebirth
And lost to the essence of its meaning;
Because without life there is no hope,
And without death there is no passion;
Our spiritual worth is captured by those around us, and the love that we hold inside
When castles lay in speculation and dream, and the tolerance in its character;
The worth of one’s future is reserved to itself, in the quiet solitude of reflection
And that of our own emotion;
Till comes a day we wait for servitude
But hear only lines of righteous thought
And in solitary rest we do lay, high atop yester wind
In the castles of kings with towers stepped, as October slips away,
Oh come listen hard to a gentle voice, see darkness enshrine the moon
And the centuries over which it shines;
But wait to hear the common words
Across winds sweet castles tall
By M. Norton
