Premium Member Just the Facts, Please

If I would be known as an advocate
Let it be for what’s just and fair,
As I see it, telling it right and straight
The truth is not in a lot of hot air!
In any case, I would much rather
Hear the story from original sources,
Unembellished with a lot of blather
So, let me rely on my own resources.
Opinion is opinion; news is news!
Tell me in plain terms what happened
Don’t give me any secondhand views,
Or try to persuade with a chart, and
Insult me with other “expert” points
I’m not interested in the sensational,
Your network’s biased viewpoints,
News should not be confrontational.
Tell me who, what, when, and where
Work your way from major to minor
Tell me the facts and leave it there,
For me, the evening news will be finer.

The Hostess

The hostess asked to see their proof
That they’d received vaccines,
For New York law requires it
In their pre-seating screens.

The women, Texas tourists,
In a mean, entitled rage,
Thought that violent behavior
Was the best way to engage.

The three attacked the hostess,
In a frenzy, caught on tape,
And without some intervention,
She’d have not made her escape.

The police were called, arrests were made;
They’ll have to show in court,
But outrage was the one response
Each newscast did report.

To dine indoors, obey the rules;
For anyone who won’t,
The penalty should be so stiff
It might stop those who don’t.

Fire raged through heavy wooded terrain,
Blizzard hit the panhandle hard,
Bad windstorm slammed the western plains,
Mudslides hid hundreds of backyards.

Brutal sandstorm swept through arid plains,
Fierce hurricane aimed at the Keys,
Havoc descended on tornado lane,
Earth’s warming threatened baby seals.

Crops were at risk in fertile farm fields,
Crowds assembled for protest walks,
Northwest reached one hundred ten degrees,
Earthquakes possible near the fault.

Hospitals were overfull with the sick,
Medical teams were at wits end,
Some thought the nation’s flame left the wick,
Would never find its fire again.

People had the lowdown newscast blues,
Some feared apocalyptic end,
The anchors said it was breaking news,
And we looked for someone to blame.

Tonight

Tonight
When I entered my apartment
The stairs were lying like tired men after a hard day's work
The door a yawning mouth
My TV was listening intently to the sports newscast
And
Like a huge fat woman, the couch was sitting on the floor
Hardly breathing the used air
The curtain tickled the cheek of the window………
Swaying gracefully above
My books slept like babies on the hands of the bookshelves
The dining table was listening to the whispers of her chairs
The lamps were winking at to each other
The fan was busy flailing her arms indifferent
In my apartment
The life looks the same as I left it
Everything is normal
No,
It is more than normal
Strange………
No one missed me?

The News

The New's makes it look like everyone's dying.
The New's makes it look like nothing's alright.

And when you should watch it, you wonder who's dead-
than what could your Newscast have showed you instead.

And you go to your window and look out to see,
when surprised by the living that walk by with glee.

That you show off your smile that says their alive.
and you go on with living with others who thrive.

That you say life's worth living and feel for their love-
that the News wouldn't show you and built their lies of.

Premium Member Give Life a Blast

Today I'm going to give life a blast
By not being shackled to my past
There I felt like a lonely outcast
The sun is shining today, my personal forecast,
even in the midst of storm; today's newscast
I found my self worth by letting go of my past

Runaway Wheeling Hound

A hound bus in the maintenance garage
But it was the thief thinking in his own barrage
When the workers weren’t around
The Thief stole the bus without making any sound
The Hound’s slogan, “Leave the Driving to us”
The Thief’s slogan, “Steal the Hound Bus being a must”
That is just what happened
Hound bus 7888 was driven from the yard onto New Jersey Turnpike
I-95 bound for anywhere
The Thief’s thought, I-95 was my escape route with no jive
Yet Helicopter Newscast were reporting high above I-95
The Hound bus was chased entire length of the turnpike
But if the NJ Turnpike Police don’t act quick, the Hound Bus could cross the Pennsylvania state line
The Thief knew how to drive that Hound bus, I guess in his prior life, the Thief was part of the company’s us
Yet the chase continued to go on, but not until the Hound bus ran out of gas
The Thief’s driving fast that didn’t last
Well the Thief forgot the gas tank up
The Thief became his own Maxwell house to a finished cup
A Hound bus having its own bite in crime
But justice was served with the Thief doing time.

Premium Member Windy Weather

I crept along, not very fast
and wished I'd heeded the newscast
on windstorm.

It was impossible to see
through all the whirling, thick, debris
from windblast.

I feared I'd bring myself disgrace
by reaching destination place
so windblown.

Reason Enough

I'm mad.
I'm sad.
And, I'm scared!
Because I have children.
And yes, I have sons.
Because, the wrong person,
the self important enemy,
could possibly have guns!
Because the wrong person,
won't see the innocence,
in either of my son's eyes.
They'll ignore that,
and see color, and size.
They'll look at him
but remember,
what last night's newscast said.
And, they could decide
that my baby was created,
when anger and evil,
were crossbred.
Thats reason enough!
Reason enough,
for blood, to be shed.
Reason enough!
Reason enough,
to decide that his life
aint worth living!
Reason enough!
Reason enough,
to decide,
that how he looks,
how he talks,
how he's dressed.....
Aint worth forgiving.
Now, my thoughts have been aired,
and my feelings bared.
And I know,
that there is really NO way,
for my sons to be prepared,
should a race war be declared.
And, I'm mad, sad, and dammit, I'm scared!

The Decision

The other day you made a decision
You told me you had to go!
What was the reason you made this decision
My heart will NEVER know!
Was it "Your love of this country?"
And how there are freedoms galore.
Or was it the man on the newscast
Talking about the WAR?
Whatever the reason you did this
Whatever the reason you're gone
Please know how "Proud" I am of you
For all the things that you've done.
For America stands for Freedom
Courage and Dignity too.
Without "YOU" fighting for us
What would ALL of us do?
Just remember WE stand behind you!
To YOUR COUNTRY you must be true!

So for now, I need to tell you
How very much you mean to me!
For without you there would be NO FREEDOM
In this land of the BRAVE AND THE FREE.
So remember we ALWAYS HONOR
"THE SOLDIER INSIDE OF YOU!!!"

GOD BLESS YOU!!!
