I Never Even Heard of a Serger

my sister sews
Has a Cadillac of a sewing machine
it cost as much as her first house

it has gadgets, dials, electronic commands
intimidates me

She plunks me in front of a serger
I never even heard of a serger before now
I am going to have to look up how to spell it

On a regular sewing machine, you do not

Never to Leave Us

He promised never to leave our side,
Though fog may veil the trail with deep despair,
And make it seem as though He does not bide - 
Yet reach in faith, lift up your hands in prayer.

You’ll find His faithful Hand is always near,
Though life is full of shifting, stormy seas.
In Him alone, our lasting hope is

i hope you never stop singing

a songbird beloved who moves with intention
   will find themselves in times of trouble 
   mother mary on their bustier—
   a sight for those with the privilege to see.

With all 
The progress
We made, how
Is it that we’re 
Back to where 
We once were
With oppression?
Did we become 
So comfortable
That we failed
To see what
Was coming
To push us
Back and make America great again?!
How could we have simply missed
The vivid message of Stockholm,
Which, for us, here today, is now
A USA, Oppressor Syndrome?!

NEVER LIKE THE ONE I COME FROM

An Angel,
How could you breathe life into someone so twisted, rotten to the core?

A Beauty,
How can something that came from you be so ugly, inside and out?

A Queen,
A calamity your face sits on a peasant, so unworthy of your image.

A Warrior, 
How can an offspring of yours be this weak and pathetic?

A Champion, 
A shame

THINGS YOU NEVER TOUCHED

I stitched my silence with threads of things I couldn’t say.
I yearned with the last pieces I had stored away.

The moon watched me unravel, but never turned away.
The sea heard my cries, but never bothered to ask me "why?".

I carved poems on the inside of my ribs just to feel alive.
And the lines suffocated me

Tried And Cried

You tried, tried
And you cried
You never gave up
You found hope
As a last resort
Because you fought
Until the last drop of blood
Until the last shade of mud.

You are my angel, my hero
You refused to fall and to go
You cried, cried
And tried, tried
To succeed against all odds
You were strong and you wore pads
You tried, tried
And you cried.

Heroes cry

Squirrel that never gave up

Ten times they tried and failed
to ban him from the seed
with nets, with traps, with hose;
a hundred times they tried.
Later when,
amen, the
angry men,
then gave up;
Soon came zen.

The Letter Never Sent

The pages in your box
were never opened,
never flipped to let the light in.
The silence inside that box
spoke louder than words
it whispered of pain
hiding in every verse you never wrote.

I wonder if what you call love
was ever true love at all.
You left me
dancing in silence,
caught between a love that never lived
and a hate that never spoke

Never Amount or Equal To

She didn't understand ways in which the world worked or her place within it

A young girl entered the first grade hoping to learn how to spell using ABC's     
But try as she may she could never spell those long tricky words until Miss 
Cartolano lent her flash cards for home. Suddenly it became easy as pie.

Astronomy: A Love I Could Never Have

everyone is going to their place of dream
their pen and papers screams pride and dignity
and in the fate's script it only talks about my failure
my efforts led me to nowhere but my defeat
i'm envious of everyone who got to follow their dreams

I stopped dreaming after defying the reaper.
