Miracle Man

Dementia isn’t something
my loved one has chosen,
So I readily admit
that in patience I’m lacking.
It seems in a time zone
a memory has been frozen,
Repeating things daily
is quite nerve racking.
Things are lost daily,
and sometimes never found.
We no longer can agree
on a myriad of matters.
The smallest of things
are the easiest to confound,
I attempt to write
as my loved one chatters.
She hasn’t many thoughts
that she doesn’t verbalize.
But if starting life over
she’d still be my prize.

Yup ... there's no question about it,
I'm talking about sex, and all the
        Calamity and comedy that surrounds.

Yet I'm not sure if the destiny will
Defer to the clumsy, or if it will
        Remain nerve-racking on all grounds.

Because seriously, it is by far the most
Common and popular topic, that virtually
Everyone is scared to death to talk about.

Starting with the basics, the birds & bees,
Before graduating to STD's, I often
Wonder if the birthrate is in doubt.

This nauseating nervousness stays with
Us always, from the first dance to the
        Last nuptial that we profess.

So as long as those butterflies keep
Flittering, we might get lucky with a
        Sexual encounter, I guess.

It seems ironic that something so natural,
Can bestow so much anxiety with the
        Mere thought of its success.

While we fumble along, sometimes pulling
A loose foot out of our mouth, but who knows,
        We've done more with less.

Premium MemberRape My Heart

Can’t resist the love I have
That comes from loving you
Promise me that - you’re true
Never to sell
To the highest bidder

Beautiful
Pointless
Painful
It’s so nerve racking

Promise me
Comfort me
Soothe me

Come and
Rape my
heart
Come and
Rape my
heart again
It’s the only way!!

Premium MemberIn Front of An Audience

Some people on stage
Speak without the fear
Standing on the stage
Speaking out calmly
To an audience
Some recite poetry
They have no fright

Performing first time
Is nerve racking
Making them feel scared
It takes time to feel calm
In front of an audience
To perform a show
Or to give a speech

It makes me wonder
How the people feel
If calm or nervous
While they perform
Playing piano
Doing broadway
I have ponder thoughts

DOWN AGAIN DAMN!

Stress and tension, heart pulsating, can’t take more
One day two, three days, perhaps today even four,
Not knowing what we’ve lost, poems I’v saved, but
Comments, views are so important to encourage poets,
In my scribble jotter are my poems where I’v kept notes,
They’re safe, thanks to the cloud, internet and Word,
Otherwise this situation would have become totally absurd!
If our business’s server went wonky for three whole days,
Dissatisfied customers would elsewhere look for another way
Forward, perhaps your system is overloaded, maintenance,
Is essential for a worldwide network like Poetry Soup site,
So hope that for us, and your advertisers, you soon get it right,
We no more want to go through this nerve racking fright!
Look forward to seeing cheery poems, comments and views today,
On poetry soup, which with passion I and others hold the flame,
Sure you guys are worried sick, for this is definitely no game!

Abc of Poetry

Alright, I think I got the hang of it,
Beginning the poem with the alphabet ‘A’...
Caught on pretty quickly, didn’t I?
Dah! This is awesomely easy, man!
Ending is somewhat nerve-racking though.

Premium MemberI Need An Ocean, I Need Last December

I need an ocean to compel my summer night. I need to be here in this dimension. I need an unequivocal force to move me. I am shaking. This is compelling. This universe is not quite multidimensional but here we are. He is forceful. I need his poetry with spoiled endings and his love - ("rigged symmetry"). This is nerve-racking. This particular memory of an ordinary summer night makes me nervous - and makes me need him. I am frightened. I need him. I need his heart as cold as December. I need last December.

Surgery is always nerve racking deal
Under the anesthesia and knife
Putting another in control
Life laid into their hands
Upon their skill depend
Human emotions
Over load mind
Anxiety
Afraid
Fear
Trust
Settle
Peace control
God is in charge
Heaven is my home
Thank you God for comfort
A sweet peace now speaks to me
Now a deep settled unity
May His sweet presence fill me full up
Let His sweet perfume my cup overflow

It's a Joy To Meet New People

Meeting new people (I'm a cheerful boy, used as a useless toy and
getting stepped on like a mat)
Could be counted as a joy
It makes my heart thump (with joy - I catch the rat by the tail...I'm the
satisfied, fluffy cat)
Meeting some strangers (on my own...)
Could be nerve-racking at times (don't associate with strangers, Davey)
It makes...my mind shout (mInD-bLoWn)
I counsel strangers (unlike the rest...my self-esteem won't rot)
But, I get out of my shell
I speak my weird mind (trying to encourage them with my best shot)

Cat Ownership

You have to love them to sift their latrine,
The uric fragrance burning your nose and eyes
As you render their special place fresh and clean--
One of them watches, impatient, and sighs.
You have to be ready for sleep-rending howls
When one recovers his ragged cloth ball--
At twelve or two--shaking it with feral growls,
Boasting his prey up and down the hall.
You must be attentive--even at four--
If bowls are empty and bellies not full:
Rude rattling and scratching on the bedroom door
Has such a hypnotic, nerve-racking pull.
How apt the pharaohs decreed them divine,
While litter-box slaves were treated like swine.

Oh, Baby

You haunt me, constantly
twisting my dreams into nightmares, and
nerve-racking my mind at the sight of pampers.
Approaching forty, mother of none:
why couldn’t I give birth to more than a hope?
Happily single, despite what you say, without
dealing with a kid who’ll only grow to hate me,
the crumb-snatcher taking from my plans and pay,
but....
I’m so damn lonely and you know it.
You,
you with your what-ifs and would’ve-could’ve-should’ves,
not allowing me to soundly sleep,
making me carry that weight,
with a life as empty as my womb,
tormented
by immoral choices that
stopped your possibilities.
I can only
now say:
“Mommy’s sorry.”

Nervous

How long is a long time?
Or: How long is a life?

If one second passes between the end of two lives,
Enough time to see a shooting star
Enough time to feel the change to winter or spring
Enough time to breathe fresh air...
Was not a lifetime lived in that second?

;

A hand shake,
Shaking and straining to squeeze
That last bit of toothpaste out
For the little brother of a son
Waiting to clean his teeth.
Nervous,
Nerve-racking anticipation but soon
Off to a bedroom one-fourth the volume
And three times as occupied as a sitcom,
No story tonight, sleepy thoughts by streetlight
Bleeding through the blinds,
From a kitchen halved by a fridge
Four times its used size,
And a goodnight,
All fe no male, a hopeful prayer unanswered,
An uncertain tomorrow in a certain tomorrow.

Woodpecker Tap-Tapping

There was a woodpecker whacking,
Continuous sound nerve-racking.
Distressed in the mind,
Making my teeth grind,
Tap-tapping will send me packing.

Standing outside, I clapped my hands,
Sending him off to no-man's land.
But no, he just sat,
And started to tap.
His tapping, how will I withstand?

Too Short of a Time

-Time's a ticking, minutes pass by.
It's hindering my psychic, I do fear.
A blip, a word, two, then three words leak out-

Raining on my windowpanes,

-A brain hiccup, come on Connie, think-think,
Nerve-racking this 5 minute poem, but wait, flowing again-

Sweetly serenading me to sleep,
And washing this troubled day away.

Lighting strike, rumble, boom, crash,

-No more loose thoughts tumbling out.
My brain has downshifted to a lower IQ.
Challenged and frustrated with this timed poem.
