The Murmuration
l saw her by the edge of the burnt mossy wall
and she was watching high above, over forests so tall
then as the dusk gathered starlings, that danced in the melting sun
it was the breathless display, and mesmerising begun
in the last Autumn rays, that painted threads through the trees
like the strands in her hair that stroked again in the breeze
and their dance was perfection as she watched murmuration
and their velvet display was their beautiful creation
gently the stars said hello, as the white moon glimpsed below
and her slowly wrapped dreams, she sent of her kisses he'd know
and they went drifting slow like the gossamer clouds
and her love for him soft, like the starling, a glow
still her eyes searched afar, over the bracken filled glens
as she looked for his face and his smile and his arms to embrace
and never gave up hope, as she waited each night
and she watched starlings call , over mossy green wall
the dance of the starlings is a sight to behold
like a true love is precious , more precious
than gold.

A Murmuration of Memories
The murmuration of my memories
fills the sky of my soul
with a beautiful pictoral show
of our long lost love
I watch, transfixed
Euphorically engrossed, I sigh
Oh, what display
of you and me and yesterday!
I relive the splendor
Transfixed
Emotions mixed
with certainty
you and me...and love
it will come again
But like birds, the memories fly away,
and I gaze at an empty sky
wondering why
reality always makes me cry

Patterns
Patterns, of investigation,
Autumn starlings, murmuration,
Tidal sand wave, undulation,
Tectonic plates, foliation,
Evergreen fronds, forestation,
Rainbows of illumination,
Nature’s endless, fascination,
Science, our imagination.

Starling Murmuration
Twisting, turning, swooping, SWIRLING
Starlings just before dusk
Forms patterned cloud ILLUSION
Coming together as single
Thousand minds as one
Act in an instant
Who trains them all?
Who leads them all?
RUSTIC charm of birding
Brings rare joy sighting
SILENCE seems to EMANATE
In ambience of forest
SYNTHETIC life in city
Never helps to BLOSSOM
TIMELESS calm of Nature -
A price above priceless.

Starlicide
a coat of stars
on a shiny night you
wear
and thrive in #'s (almost)
everywhere
Mozart taught you to sing
everything
recite poetry
and greet those
who stumbled in
you are precious
to me
yet so hated
they patent your name
for poison
and rage
Starlicide
now
half of what you were
your murmurations
still
smoke the sky
just not here
this year
my dear
my darling

Murmuration of Starlings High
Murmuration of starlings high. I’m high!
Low stars twinkling with wings. The trumpet’s call!
As winds of war, incline, in warm wind sigh,
the flock, a shock, sans enemies appall.
These friends do fascinate, heard like bombers,
like Japanese over unsuspecting
Pearl Harbor fight ~ these darling bird-balmers.
The nudge of melodic buzz, quite affecting.
Not of national consequence, abuzz
not with politicking but peace of soul -
remains of war pittance, the scrawling-t’was.
My awesome sight, this di’mond-bling of coal.
Mere humans offer crumbs ~ my heart flaps wings.
With murmurs high and low, communion springs.

The Murmuration
The Starlings gather in flight,
A sight for longing eyes, the quartz cluster
grazes the changing skies,
Charcoal moss upon a cloudy wall,
They sweep the air as they fall into
cascading emerald tides,
Suspended in the breeze like puppets on their strings,
They compliment each other through the winds,
With the promise to protect each other
from passing threat.
Inhale, exhale.
As the dusk sets in again
the amber takes another blackened breath,
Each their own but also
belonging to the flock. They are home.
As a billow of gypsies, they roam
the calmly cobbled skies,
Until the darkness crawls from the earth to the moon
and the flock settle on trodden ground,
With the promise to keep each other warm
through bitter nights.
Inhale,
Exhale.
Through lonely days and even lonelier nights,
We dream of the sight of the murmuration,
And whisper quiet courageous thoughts,
Because we all long to live as Starlings do.

Murmuration
Unseen for a moment
Then over the hill
A sudden flurry of wings
Murmuration of starlings
In flight.

Murmuration
The cold season is coming round
Flocks of birds are homeward bound.
They are swirling, turning, wheeling
They invade the evening sky
Changing shape and mesmerizing
Safe in numbers; rustling by.
A cloud of starling
Graceful flapping of their wings
Murmuration.
