The way a marriage
On the bus 8 to Garston, I met my future wife; I was going
to meet someone at the British Legion, something about
a job as a cook on a ship. At an outdoor, we bought cans of
cokes and a bottle of rum.
I thought she was the kindest woman; I had ever met.
We married, and people I didn’t like came to our reception
like my brothers-in-laws
Dreams never last on cook’s wages, awake one morn
no smell of coffee from downstairs; she had gone out
and left a note: “Get a Job, you drunken slob!”
I took a bus to Albert Dock, a ship going to Murmansk
needed a cook, I didn’t hesitate, sign on
Every morning made my own coffee and everyone else’s.
I would still like to know if she when coming back from
Garston’s shopping centre misses me.

Manufacturing dissent
The distance from Kirkenes to Murmansk is a bus trip, the Norwegian
often travel there to buy wine, vodka and other necessities.
The proximity of the two people has always been amicable,
it is not forgotten it was the Russian Army that freed northern Norway
from the German Nazi occupation; the job was done the soldiers marched home.
Lately, though, one read in newspaper both in Norway and foreign press,
a tendency to scatter conflict between the two countries to inject dissent
where there is none. This is manufactured and, I think NATO inspired
It is also contagious this will spread to other parts of Norway as people
tend to believe lies told many times until the lie becomes the truth
The amicable friendship must not fall prey to propaganda and destroy
the good relation Norway has with Russia.

Some beautiful Russian women come from very selective stock.
These fine ladies can live between Murmansk and Vladivostok.
They can come from cities like St. Petersburg or Moscow.
Anywhere in Russia, they make it over here somehow.
Most men think those Russian women are so sweet.
They are sweethearts I would drop everything to meet.
At anytime, their presence causes such a marvelous sensation.
They are greeted with open arms in this nation.
Will you get them quickly through customs and immigration?

This escort ship
Of World War Two
Convoy carer
To guide them through
From sail to steam
To propeller screw
Atlantic saviour
For me and you
These modern Corvette's
With their fire power
Delicately named
After a flower
While the Canadian class
Named after cities and towns
But when it came to protect
They buckled down
From the west to Murmansk
Carrying supplies and arms
To the USSR
Bringing war her charms
Of these U-Boat wolves
Running with their packs
Many a life saved
When these Corvette's attack
Depth charge fires
Sinks, boom - look for oil
For many a wolf
Met this toil
These more modern ships
Stealth in design
For flying at the back
Their proud ensign
For the many Navy and Merchant seamen who braved these
Atlantic crossing during World War Two, for me and you.
