She stands like Everest—jaw-dropping, distant, sublime—
No timid plea will ever bridge that height.
Yet the one who climbs with tender steps and earnest heart
May trace her warmth through courage’s light.
You stumble on your words—your voice betrays your desire,
Each awkward phrase fuels your hope to try anew.
Like a climber training on icy slopes, you rise again from slip and fall,
For each earnest reach builds strength inside you.
She may seem unattainable, aloof behind her lofty snow,
Still, effort carves a pathway where affection slowly grows.
One gentle gesture after another—steady, brave, sincere—
Becomes the rope that binds your hearts in close repose.
As the mountaineer knows: summits yield to those who persist,
Each step endured, each setback met with grit.
Likewise, a heart is won not by luck—but by steadfast, caring climb,
For in love and heights alike, those who try never quit.

I enjoy my gnomes
They live in my garden
Every day I look out
Keeping watch on them
To make sure they're safe

Each one has a name
Jack the mountain climber
He scales the alps at a slow pace
Never reaches the top
Yet he never gives up
Tom is happy to play soccer
He plays every day
Rain or shine he goes
To join his team mates
On the soccer field
Fred is a magician
He practices all the time
For a show twice a week
It's for the sick children
They enjoy his many talents
These are my gnomes
Each one is special
Doing their own thing
Each enjoy a different role
passing time in my garden

My daddy was a mountain climber
Cause life's a mountain all men must climb
From the foothills of adolescence
To the last days of our lives
My daddy always raised me
To do what I thought right
The lessons that my daddy taught
Have helped me throughout this life
He lived on mountain wisdom
And showed me in my youth much of the same
Said son don't spend all your days in the valley
Cause in the lowlands there's no gain
And boy don't take the path well worn
That's been cleared out all soft and smooth
Take the one with rocks and ledges
So you'll have something to hold on to
That's why today I'm a mountain climber
Cause life's a mountain all men must climb
From the foothills of adolescence
To the last days of our lives

A CONDUIT
This is the time when war should cease.
This is the time when those that seek inner peace should be appeased.
This is the time for metaphors to take life.
This is the times that integration is the religious defiance.
Time is the contrivance that drives the overzealous into purposeful endeavors.
Time is the vehicle that makes a mountain climber peak.
Time is the mechanism that means to fulfill some form of identity.
Time sets the stage.
People become proactive.
The world is the medium set forth.
Time is that moment in history that demonstrates some emotion that may only be felt.
Time is the element of life that shapes form.
Time measures the soul.

A is a beautiful day
Brave and bold
Courageous and my Christmas miracle
Divine and religious
Excellent and fulfilling
Figuratively enhanced
Godly and receptive
Handsome and alluring
Idol of humanity
Jay of blue
Kind and princely
Love exemplified with religion
Man of my dreams
Nice to perfection
Outdoor manner refreshing
Papal all the while secular
Question of love and friendship
Reign of kindness
Solar complexity like the sun
Teacher of God and humanity
Universal and fulfilling
Victorious mountain climber
Worldly and romantic,
Xylophone of moderation
Zealous and courageous,my love and friend, God

Sweet fragrance of
cedar and pine
In the mountain you
will find
Crows and eagles who
dare to fly
Wayward into the
blue sky
The wind whispers
around each bend
Whether you incline
or steadily descend
Places never seen by
any man
or crossed over its
wide river span
High up green
carpeted meadows
grow
Only sheep or
mountain climber can
go
Valleys with foilage
so dense and thick
Traversing around
can be mighty slick
Rock formations
millions of years
old
Snow caps never melt
because of cold
Rivers that meander
and bend
Falls dropping over
cliffs face end.
Lakes come in
various shades of
blue
the ice fields have
that coloring too
Towering cliffs
that reach for the
sky
Thin air as you
climb up high.

You can travel the four thousand miles of the Nile
to its source and never find it.
You can climb the five highest peaks of the Himalayas
and never recognize it.
You can gaze through the largest telescope
and never see it.

To be a part of landscape
From a distance landscape has a
recognizable outline.
A skin mite, grazing fleshy meadows
grotesque microscopic cow,
has no concept of the human form it feeds from.
Just as a mountain in close proximity
is no longer symbolic of its form,
romance and the imagination of it
is reduced to a frozen, physical obstruction
that is a challenge to survival.
The skin mite tumbles, a huge force
has torn it's clawlike hooves from
living apertures, it falls
with flakes of dead turf into a
depthless void, unoticed
by the scratcher,
and the mountain climber sees the
blinding wall of snow that
flashes by him as he falls,
unoticed by the mountain.

If I were a mountain climber,
I’d always take the time
To check out superstitious lore
When choosing where to climb.
For recently an avalanche
Took several climbers’ lives.
I’m sure they left some grieving friends
And parents, children, wives.
This avalanche occurred in France.
Mont Blanc’s the mountain range;
But here’s the part that is, to me,
More obvious than strange.
The northern face of Mont Maudit
Is where the slide began.
The meaning of that name was not
A factor in their plan.
Or possibly, those mountaineers
Thought there was some mystique
To conquering a mountain
That’s defined as “cursed peak.”
With dangers in a sport like this,
I know I’d be averse
To setting out upon a peak
That’s burdened with a curse.
They thumbed their noses at the gods
Which is the kiss of death.
I wonder if they realized that
As they took their last breath.

the mountain is high
it's filled with stones,
the rocky slope
is prone to storms...
the peak is high
but you need to climb,
hurdles are many
but you can pass them and smile..
the icy cold wind
may chill your spine,
you may feel lonely
in the tall forest of pines...
but the peak is near,
you cannot give up,
be steady and strong,
though the route is rough...
as long as you aim
to climb above,
no one can break you
so just be tough...

Her golden heart is shining,
Her love is everywhere.
Her comments make our day,
And are sweet as an éclair.
She supports all the poets,
With a love shining so bright.
PoetrySoup wouldn’t be the same,
Without Sharon on its’ site.
To be the community giant,
We’re all that mountain climber.
But will we beat the points,
Earned by Sharon Weimer?
She’s always on her game,
Blessing us with her time.
Raising the bar so high,
For all us poets to climb.
She’s leads the PS pack,
She’s a fantastic word trooper.
We are blessed to be graced by,
Sharon Weimer, the super souper.
