Although I am not a great poet,
I am writing poems now and then.
Nobody finds for you equivalent,
Nothing matches my hometown.
I'm not jealous of somebody's happiness,
I keep writing poems silently might.
Thinking about the homeland destinies,
Sometimes I wake up in the night fright.
Your stone does not affect my hips,
Blue meadow, coastal lake, green carpet.
Every time you breathe fresh air sips,
The breath opened like a blue sky target.
The universe is like a sea weaves,
There will be a change soon crack.
When the belly of the white camel bursts,
We will go out and take the homeland flag.
When will you come back home!
Come ! Come back today, lalela!lalela!
Remember, that people who hate
Their mother land are slaves, lalela!lalela!
Come back to mother land,
Welcome to develop the land.

I am the doll made of your earth,
I am the living being
Breathing your air
I am the garden
In whose branches
Your words are parrots
This is the body,
Grown on the milk of your fields
This is the body
Which leaves its life
Like an arrow for you
But O Mother
In your fields
Grain is crying for workers
Heart is crying for tears,
Mother
When can you give me
One morsel of food ?
When can you tell me
One true story ?
Mother
When you give me
A place in your heart
And
A wink of sleep
Then
Your songs will fly
In the heavens like birds
Your smiles will blossom
Like flowers on earth;
Your flags
Will fly like suns on the horizons
I become one drop of tear
To merge into the pulsating sea of humanity -

You're the one of Mother lands
Where am I?
Mama Land, AFRICA

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr © 2020
When asked to portray my homeland
I honestly did hesitate
What to pen?
What to put in red and white?!
Tunisia, my Home Land
A gem of beauty in Africa continent
A mermaid bathing in the Mediterranean Sea
Could this me suffice?
To accord a tribute to my Mother Land?!
Never before had I a glimpse of thought
To envision my very stand
Let alone to fathom my Love!
A Home of birth
My purest breeze I breathed in
When I first set a voice of joy on her earth
A mother of warm shade
Rooted in her fertile soil
Growing in a haven of peace, a land of generosity.
A country of pride
Striving for the top
Her cultural heritage a crowning glory
Long as I live, her Flag I raise above my head
Tunisia, my Home Land.

My love for you became ephemeral
My eyes now moist with tears
The flowers on gardens-are dry now
The annihilation i cannot face
I scream for peace and joy among my people
They paid keen attention-I wish
The guns-the murders- i heard their cries
Their lives stood on melting ice
My people fight my people
Who put labels on their faces
The racism, the sexism
Hiding under party hats
Now i'm tired
Should i sleep, or should i die
I pray that god brings solace to my heart
So i can survive, the plight of my land
Yes I will die for her
Yes I will cry for her
But I will not turn my head and look the other way
I will not stand silent while others make a mockery of liberty
I will not stand silent while others
Distort the truth
And if I offend you
I DON'T CARE
Human rights for all does not require the denial of mine
Freedom of choice is not an entitlement
For middle class oppression
Pursuit of happiness is not a governmental gift
And if That upsets you
I DON'T CARE
I will pray
I will say
Under God
I will accept you when you accept me
If you are appalled
I DON'T CARE
I will sing God Bless America
If it offends you shut your ears
If you feel the need to respond
Shut your mouth
I do not respond to you denying your righTS
Do not deny mine
There is no room for bigoted fanaticism
In this the Mother Land
If this makes you angry
I DON'T CARE.
Tulips are dancing to the rhythem of breeze
Robins are singing ,atop, the old oak trees
Quails are waltzing , in a graceful pace
Butterflies hop ,from this to that place
Eagles are gliding down for a prey
Squirrels run for their lives, astray
Overhead , the sky is clear and blue
Underneath stretches the sea, what a view
Lovers on shore, sit in pairs and watch
Prints on sand "LOVE",one,in a touch
Sea,sand,Sun,love,silence and peace
Childhood's nostalgia,which ,I do miss
