Mom said be sure to wash
your face off before lunch, by gosh
The son obeyed
but without a mouth, eyes, and nose
He could not eat, why do you suppose

The sky was filled with starlight,
clear as transparent glass.
Yet everyone seemed uptight -
the judges who ruled en masse,
earthly stars who shone over-bright.
A winner would be chosen tonight -
one whose talent could not pass,
one whose speaking would ignite,
one whose manner boasted crass
one whose dress was way-too-tight,
Miss Nomer true, would have no might.
yet she’d become the favored lass
who'd speak out for her city's spite -
in a state of civil impasse,
with its past of assault outright.
The sky transparent filled the night
the starlight was but broken glass.
The also-rans who rued their plight
attacked Miss Nomer's verbal sass
who stood her ground with sharp backbite.

Know me?
Not even close ...
If I were to write about ANYone that I had "issues" with
It would be to them directly
Not hidden in poetic device or analogy
My use of metaphor is for ambiguity and generalization
(Or events and people in the past)
Not hiding my sentiments about contemporaries
Don't assume that I care enough about hateful, contrary people
To waste any time on creative tapestries about them
There is far too much negative and hate in this world already
Without me seeking it out in those bent by its ire
Love and kindness and understanding
Are the only worthwhile human pursuits
And all I truly care about
Not petty personal peeves
Know me? Not even close ...
But please, GET to ...
None of us have too many friends ... or too much love!

Rudolph's name is really Adolf
But was coined for he was thought rude
Assumed to be full of himself
As leader of the reindeer brood
His red nose stayed up in the air
That part of the story is right
But he only kept it that way
To see around the blinding light
About that "rude olf" moniker
He would always spread the word
To please only call him Adolf
Ironically that was preferred!

THE MISNOMER LOSS
What is loss?
Loose your keys?
Your manager now has less employees?
or is it cruelly cross,
like a fatal disease?
Did your child die
while visible to your eye?
Is justice for you nigh?
Did a flood wipe it all away,
too sudden to even ask why?
We need a much better word for these,
for losses like these are tragedies.
Not a bank error, oh please!
Rather it's the most painful horror,
and not like missing keys.
There is no word that describes
the pain and suffering of a dead son.
You can't save him; but you get proscribes,
and when it is done -
you are not the only one,
among few knowing loss describes not demise.
Nor other suffering that applies
to loss, which lies.

I'm
sure they
were probably
called 'Jumpolenes'
until that first accident.

RESTROOM, is a misnomer at best.
To me that's a fact, I attest!
Though my visits are brief,
I've gotten lots of relief,
but never once, have I got any rest!
Suggestion: Call them Relief Rooms!
