Future Things

Only the things we have lost,
and misplaced still matter.

Hoarders know how the future
looks like an empty room.

Tomorrow is hung together
on old key rings,
our words duct-taped
to a garage microwave oven.

A god you can imagine
adds you as a future thought
to whatever comes next.

Next

only the things we have lost
and misplaced still matter
tomorrow is hung on old key rings
unused words duct-taped
to a gathering silence
rubber bands perish in sunlight
allow blooms to weep
their blessings
in the defunct circuitry
of a garage microwave oven
the god you can imagine

pins you to a future thought
of whatever comes next

Premium MemberImportant Breaking News

With an unprecedented shortage of basic supplies
People worldwide are learning to be wise.
Loo rolls, medicine and the safety mask.
Making do with what we already have is the new task.

I’ve seen diapers and bras used as new safety covers.
Drugs for malaria and stool softeners as miracle cures, are just a few among others.
Even the orange headed one is coming up with new treatment ideas.
The new scene for loo rolls is now our expired tortillas.

Slowly thawed or quickly nuked with the microwave oven
Soft and abundant and recently discovered is the new lovin.
It might not be charmin, but equally as soft on the tush.
Biodegradable and able to flush, no longer needed is the backyard bush.

Neighbor With a Gun

I had a neighbor who had some
mental instability concerns
Whether he was a threat to us
we were unable to discern
He would have a fire burning
in the middle of the night
and shoot off his gun night or day
and much to our and our
neighbors dismay
Someone called the police
just to have it on record
not knowing his potential to
hassle and heckle
One day I heard several shots
pop--pop--pop--pop
I told my husband and he
said " call the cops,
he's at it again !! "
As I was ready to dial 911
I remembered I had popcorn
in the microwave oven !!

The Darkness and the Quiet

the darkness and the quiet
both wear white cowboy hats when merged
it takes me back to two gallons of oreo ice cream and my early 30s
things were still cheap then
the music was still good
i lived for that streetlight and a phone call from her
convenience used to me my mistress
she pulled me in with her many a unpredictable gifts
the darkness and the quiet
together they brought about peace and never started a riot
it takes me back to galley kitchen reflections and my favorite microwave oven
things were still affordable then
the music was still enjoyable
i lived for the smile on the face of a full moon and a phone call from her
now here i am....in a pandora box time machine....
looking forward to the residence inn in the center of the time warp

Oops

OOps

now that was stupid
where did you leave your brain
since when do you put metal
in a microwave oven
true!!!!!
yet I did,
oh my the sparks did fly
my food looked ruined
the dish as well
felt like kicking the cat
luckily I dont have one.
Oops wasn't quite the word I said.

----------------

have you ever done a stupid thing
like using foil in a microwave
well it went like this.
the pot wasnt going into the microwave
was meant for the oven
i was tired
my brain not in gear.
used microwave . . I think the word sparking..
comes to mind, a lesson learnt
til the next time
always been so careful
must be getting old
oops I mumbled
geez now I even talk to myself.
time to phone for a pizza.

Premium MemberThe Morning Chore

In The Kitchen:

Hang a pound of hickory smoked thick sliced bacon
Cover the bacon with white paper towel to prevent splatters
Pre-heat oven to 350 degree
Cover baking sheet with silver aluminum foil
Place whole-wheat yeast rolls on the baking sheet
Dot each roll with luscious creamery fresh butter
Place rolls into the pre-heated oven
Place thick bacon into microwave oven to cook for ten minutes
Beat-up four eggs incorporating air add two tablespoons milk beat some more
Take out that aggression on those eggs
Cook omelet in preheated oil covered pan
Top that omelet with some shredded cheese just a little
Call everyone to come:

Breakfast awaits

Experienced

I was born before the eight track
A very long time ago
Our telephone had a party line
There wasn't anyone we didn't know

My neighbor wasn't Fred Flinstone
Contrary to popular belief
Our women wore those mini skirts
Instead of an old fig leaf

Our microwave oven was a heated rock
That was sitting out in the sun
We'd turn that steak twenty times
Then we'd know it was done

Our computer was our fingers and toes
So twenty was infinity
We grew our food in the garden
But even then we hated those peas

Our bathroom was an outhouse
Out back was where it was at
A magazine was our toilet paper
And that's all I'll say about that

Now you might say I'm getting old
But that's just simply not true
Cause when the lights go out and don't come back
I'll survive much longer than you

I call myself experienced
Cause I lived life in the past
And when they take away your luxuries
Lets see how long you last

She Had the Sense of Another

She had the sense of another,

didn’t realize what she was doing,

wishing it was an extremely vivid dream,

but she was fully awake,

the child beside her,

in the crib,

with eyes so beautiful it could heal any broken heart,

if she would just come to her senses

before things fall apart.

The beeps from the microwave oven

shook her,

bottle warm,

perhaps hot,

maybe even too hot for the child,

perhaps not.

Her mind was in danger of imploding, exploding,

but destruction is what she felt,

but it wan't her, it was someone else inside,

she was just tagging along, watching, going for the ride.

Odors penetrated her nostrils,

unexpectedly caught her off guard,

she had the sense of another,

until something happened,

something horrible

to the child beside her,

in the crib.

too late...

Ode To Marshmellow Peeps

Marsh mellow peeps
a wonderful treat.
Yellow pink or blue
all of them stick like glue
on easter , christmas or even halloween
I like peeps and pass on jelly beans .
Some have said they can cure the common cold
others say it reminds them of yellow slime mold
what can I say ?
it doesnt matter to me either way
but personally my favorite type is
the ones you put in the microwave oven
and watch as they bubble, pop and fizz
