Every year, there’s a menorah
As a neighborhood display,
But when I walked past, I noticed
It was missing – what the hey?
So I went to check it out and
I was shocked at what I found.
It was moved from its location,
All its branches on the ground.
It appeared to have been vandalized,
Like others where I live.
Such a sad and shocking crime,
It would take effort to forgive.
To discover this on Christmas,
When the spirit should bring peace,
Hammers home the point that hatred
In this world will never cease.
Our Chanukah Menorah
Inhaling sparked air, candlestick wicks,
Exhaling gold leaping tongues,
Hypnotize more than magic tricks,
Sharing a story, singing songs,
8 illumined nights lighting 36,
Freeing us from "Yavan" wrongs,
Swallowing, hallowing, glowing licks,
Releasing an infinite light the world longs,
Flames flickering "Shalom", a "Tikun Olam" fix,
Assuring the throng all men belong,
Trust, peace, hope, no gimmicks!
As the Sensations of The sound of silence, combustion song,
The Subtle smell of fresh burning oil or wax mix
With the seen Shape of gulping flames oblong,
Taste of butter, caramel & vanilla sticks,
Are among the many reactions of each among
Us - on the menorah watch inspired by the ignited fanatics!
Christmas Tree, Menorah Meet-Up
A Christmas tree and a Menorah, woke one morning right next to
one another!
Both were shocked to be so placed, thinking this was such a total
disgrace!
Well, being immobile there was nothing either could do!
They each avoided looking at one another, in a stubborn stew!
Eventually they did, then a great friendship was launched and they
even developed a fondness for each other.
I heard them chatting and talking about their commonalities.
And even..how better this world could possibly be!
Someone lit them at sundown, and the lights of each..glowed.
With their loving brotherhood and whispers...shimmering on the
beauteous, silvered-falling snow.
They taught each other songs of their respective heritages.
Swapped stories of what their lights represented.
There was no chatter of who was wrong or who was right!
They were there to simply light the human spirit, tonight~
I, silently and helplessly, wept in utter delight!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah

MENORAH
Willow of sanctuary,
Light of seven--
Reminds us in deepest night
Who rules the heavens.
Elegance of form and style--
Holy design
from Moses to modern man
continues to shine
Shapes and substance vary
lost relics of gold--
But still the sacred thought
turns faint hearts bold.
