JFK, MLK, RFK all shot dead
Rabin and Sadat both shot dead
               Nasrallah and the Ayatollah slain
Reagan, Trump, so many others shot at

               Who aspires to international leadership
                  Death the price of membership

Citizenship Not Membership

Membership is an elite process
Grace saves us, and not
By what we did for the Lord
We have citizenship within the Kingdom of God and
As Citizens of this great kingdom, we declare our characteristics

Citizenship is a legal position
We are regal people, so
We live out our status in this dispensation

We are Citizens and not members of His kingdom.

You were asking
earlier:

Floating In a pool
by misadventure.

Slowly drowning
in vomit, your own.

Chasing horses
in a seedy hotel room.

A busted heart
in a busted bathtub.

Hanging in a garage
beside your automobile

A twenty gauge
wrapped in your arms

One last Vodka shot,
to end the pain.

These are some ways
you can join the club.

There are many more;
you can be inventive.

May I ask your age?
Twenty-eight you say.

My apologies, sir;
you exceed our age limit.

Enough poison left inside
To keep me close to the healer,
Paddling alone only
Creates whirlpools.

Together side by side
Power of testimony
Spurring us on.

Power of words
Making grown men cry
Power of stories
Made real to all.

Membership is free
But we’ve all paid dearly.

Lifetime Premium Membership

Lifetime Premium Membership. Someone said you could receive one if your dad had

been killed while on active duty serving his country like mine has, you yourself was a

retired veteran and you yourself had written over 600 full length poems on PoetrySoup

of which one was Poem of the Day on August 16th and two of your other poems had

received honorable mentions. I am supposed to be making the other person think this

is their very own idea. Not only that, I am writing this in a free verse format so I will

receive a free membership. This is a great idea you have there.

Premium Member My Membership

They said the day I signed up,
Once I paid the fee
My membership was lifetime
But then, I looked to see

I felt l had been cheated
"Lifetime", what a joke
To think how much I paid to them
It causes me to choke

But since I'm here, I guess I'll stay
As long as I'm alive
And just renew my membership
In 2065

I'll be 58 in August
Do the math--- Ha !
