He trundled his way up the three heavy steps
His mop of hair searching every direction
In the middle of the stage a brash spotlight
shone on a large drum kit
Behind a curtain dangled over a hand painted sign
The burgundy curtains partially
covering the letters making it look like alent sho

The boy now seated behind the kit dwarfed by its side.
He adjusted his seat slightly, closed his eyes and
took a breath
The crowds murmurs abruptly cut by some drunks
sloshed repartee -Hey.kid you, a belch breaking his sentence-forgot your sticks
With a tiiter of some of the onlookers
The young boy slowly opened his eyes
A tear slowly rolled down his pale cheeks
Swaying from his chin for a moment
before falling
It meandered along the cymbal's it’s tremor almost melodically before snapping upon the snare
Each tear falling in perfect formation
No beat missed a methodical beat
One after another
The silence of the audience
mesmerised by his music
He played with such sadness
The tears of those watching only adding to his symphony

Summers Sparkling Journey

Summer’s Sparkling Journey




Swinging, sideways we two, in a striped hammock.
Green, grand,leaves that grinned, engraving our love on 
summer’s clock.

Hearts, your hands, holding our summer’s warm heaven.
Wishing, wanting, now, to be, excited and thirteen again.

Graceful,gravel beneath our soft feet at eve.
Mr. Moon's magical, romantic secret, mystery,

That desirous, tan glow on your face, ever melodically sweet.
Delicious, delightful, lips that ever so  full, did softly meet.

Secretly, did, we, like Romeo and Juliet, did in barefoot feet, 
Meet so soft.
Sparking stars, observed us, under moon glass, kiss under stars, 
aloft!

Winter Comes Early In the Mountains

Rugged mountain peaks are now snow-capped
Wintry weather creeps down with passing days,
The lips on the blossoms are faded and chapped.

Many of the larger critters are sadly trapped,
For they have not adjusted to our urban ways
Rugged mountain peaks are now snow-capped.

Tall, spindly pines are in thin snowsuits wrapped
In the wind a snow-laden limb melodically sways
The lips on the blossoms are faded and chapped.

Native brown bears, fat and lazy, seem zapped
As they search for a safe place while winter splays
Rugged mountain peaks are now snow-capped.

Before the snow can melt, it is once again lapped
Piling up high, thwarting mountain hiking forays
The lips on the blossoms are faded and chapped.

For years the mountain trails have been mapped
It’s possible to enjoy those Christmas Eve sleighs
Rugged mountain peaks are now snow-capped
The lips on the blossoms are faded and chapped.

I Wish To Be a Musical Instrument

I wanted to be 
an electric guitar,
to vibrantly run my screams in
melodically riffs and solos...
Turning my pains into art...
But I'm just that... lone cello
how bitter and silent
dies of thirst in a corner
without performing any blues.... !

Piano Pieces

upstairs
the hammers of a piano
stomp through a tune mechanically
unwilling fingers
prod at a well-known student piece

a small scottie dog appears
wearing a tartan coat

a light hibernian them
rings in my head

later
a young child joins me
to sit on the house stoop

I ask her if she likes clementi
the look in her eyes
warns me never to inquire again

the dog is huffing melodically
as it takes a dead composer
for a walk

a small-scale baby grand joins us
sniffs at the little girl – growls

then runs up and down the sidewalk
looking for someone to play with

Brazilian Bossa Blue

          Women in lovely clothes.
          Crystal sea-breeze blowing.
          Candle-lit tables,outdoors.
          Kaleidoscope-colored, lit dance floor.
          Awesome men, raring to go.
          Let the Bossa Nova music begin!
          The sparking Rio night sky.
          The mixed scents of parfums.
          The illuminated faces when a cigarette is lit, so artistic.
          A divine night, melodically so inspiring.
          Grace, music rhythms.
          The song, "Mojava" begins.
          Ah, thank you!

Spirits of a Summer's Journey

Swinging, sideways in a striped hammock.

Green, grand,leaves that gracefully grinned.

Scales

Upstairs, the hammers of a piano
stomp through scales.

Unwilling fingers
prod at a well-known student piece.
A small tartan dog appears
wearing a coat of music,
a Scots theme.

Later I sit on the stoop
with a young girl.
We watch her Baby Grand
run up and down the street
while she swings her cotton socks.

I ask her if she likes Clementi?
A look in her eyes
warns me never to inquire again.

Little girl studies her ankles.
We listen to the Scottie huffing melodically,
as it takes a dead composer
for another circular walk.

White Foam Tickles

~

Warm water caresses,
my mind drifts lingering 
somewhere beautiful,
hot surges soothe 
exposed flesh while
love melodically drips
between silken sighs,
tempted touches trace
passion’s curves
along smooth lines,
white foam tickles
midst desire’s giggles
as waves form upon 
a glistening surface,
pulses rhythmically race 
when satisfaction 
comes within the 
moistened 
charms of you

Cherry Red Wine

               Cnerry Red Wine

May I serve you some Cherry
Red Wine in a glass speckled 
with gold?
On my special wood tray are
crackers with assorted cheeses,
wonderfully cold.

Oh, I am such a sneak!
All I wanted mainly were his kisses.
And I used this method, to fulfill
my dreamy, warm wishes.

Cherry Red Wine kisses, how they 
melodically hum.
Maybe next time a drink more
potent....possibly rum?
Some Cuban dancing and a full
night of sweet romancing!

Cherry Red Wine, you started this
all!
Now, a wedding is planned for this
fall!

Inviting Forever

Even if moonlight is broken
and wild flowers bloom
beneath a stolen sun
lost in a dawning song,
sung in off key silhouettes
along a chorale reef
drenched in caramel pages
of forgotten ink...

amidst an ocean’s marathon,
waving to popsicle patrons,
melting your smile
in every sweetness now
clinging to shirt tails
of written directions
leading away…

we will find our place
deep within the twilight secrets
on the crest of a 
November whisper
among the hidden forests
and daffodil daydreams…

as evening swirls in
enchanting vistas
painted the color of your eyes,
where lingering stardust 
serenades melodically call
in the echoes of our hearts

inviting forever
to become
one with our love

A Poetry Cooking Contest

if i'm a judge
then don't 
judge me
i will sip
a bit of
this

one and then a bit
of that and then
all the others
six at hand
or should
i say

at mouth and tongue
soups alphabetically 
which have different 
degrees of tastes
after all how
does one

take a taste of haiku
and try to compare
au contraire to
that spicy free
verse not even
melodically

sonorous to the palate
of course simply
a first course
not to even
be paired
with any
whine

yet shall i dine on as tis
my duty to decide that
which is the best
recipe needing
no certain
form

so how to juggle a dessert
poem with a main course
one or even trying
to stuff in a
seconda
i cant

i'm no critic but merely
a hiccup in what is
a smorgasbord
of words and
wonderment
the winner is

Finding a Rhyme

I've been looking for a word that rhymes with "Sign"
I had no idea it would take so much time
And until,  I do I'm left in a bind
If you could help me I'd give you a dime
And ponder it over a large glass of wine
Between us two I would expect us to find
A word that would fit and melodically chime 
Something quite simple and rather sublime
Which could take this poem and cause it to shine
But it's to hard to find a word of that kind
I'll never finish this poem of mine

Can you think of any.......?

Sixteen Days

days that brought me to worship
sounds of deity echoing through my room
music that deftly captured my ears and dreams

all we needed to release the discomfort 
of war and plastic cages
was the experience of his Fender Strat
the feedback from that Marshall amp
her Big Momma Thornton howls
Ball and Chain, Ball and Chain

long may we love the real s--- left behind
abstractions melodically rhythmic to rock

these tracks take me to that door
where I pray someone will answer
let me enter the blues of their world and see
why such beauty had to end

meander melodically upon
a symphonic morning breeze

gathered beneath dawn’s
illumined sunrise serenade
