Calico Cuban cats devouring a cheese cone
Des Moines deer directing a driven drone
Elmhurst elk writing out an elongated poem
Fresno felines frolicking in feathery sea foam
Gary’s gorillas grabbing themselves a grooming comb.
Hanover’s hefty hags happily losing their home
Illinois iguana playing his slide trombone
Jersey’s jackalopes creeping up on a bone
Kingston’s kangaroos sitting as still as stone
Liverpool’s little linguistic feeling all alone
Mammoth meerkat wanting Cuban cat’s cheese cone
Never-do-well’s nemesis capturing deer’s driven drone

We were all on a turquoise moped on Interstate 635.
Mr. P.U. Fancy Pants Panda of course, got to drive.
He is arrogant, and thus is always the boss.
This was stated firmly by my pal Ross
Ross cannot drive, he is way too nervous and tall.
His hooves also land on both pedals, no help at all.
Meerkat is hanging on the fender by his tippy toes.
Snowy owl is getting exhaust fumes up his delicate nose.
Wait! Someone said, doesn’t an owl have a beak?
This made panda angry, he had given no one permission to speak.
Quite a day on the road with the gang who escaped from Michigan.
If you call me up on the phone, I can tell you this whole story again.

Lions were talking about the ABE (amazing beautiful elephant).
Which one is it? Someone asked.
They stared at the newcomer.
You mean you cannot tell?
She had not seen the ABE yet.
The ABE came from the north, her ears flapping.
Painted in a multitude of gorgeous colors, like a monarch.
I see her now, the newcomer said.
What can she do?
Just being gorgeous is enough, isn’t it? Asked a meerkat.
I bet she might be tasty too, said a lion cub.

22 Falcon's in a row flying
side by side in formation
Upon a suicide mission
To save a flailing meerkat
Far away from home way off course
Into a blocked trap cul-de-sac with
no way out
Begin dropping 1 bye 1
Until and so 44 broken feathered wing's
Can be used to make Dream Catcher's
In order to be sold in generic gift
shops tent off the reservation

But come to think of it i like wool
Love Pork my favorite toastie

And i Love Cattle
What would life be without
Milk and Fillet Steak
Never heard of a rescue cat
But who can resist a Meerkat
But to answer your question

the wind blows golden pellets of heat carving out a figure
spotted gaurdians pace as the sculpted body transforms
once dry granuals of earth morphed into soft mirages of beauty
a trick perhaps to the untrained eye look deeper still ..magic
she stretches her golden liquid body across the dune
testing the boundries of this new found transformation
an uncontrollable desire to reach across the plains
to touch all that can be seen to be touched by all that see's
a keeper of the sands of time now wanting to be kept
the silloutte of a child steeling a glance, deciefering reality
feeling the warmth of the desert wondering what tricks it plays
the dunes holding her beautiful form as the cheetahs pant
even the meerkat struggles with this vision
this goddess of sand and time naked before them
the steele wisdom of the great cats glance confirms
the open mind trancends, opening a new chapter
to believe what is seen to see what is believed
reaching out to feel what is or is not there
the child races to her side wanting to be held
looking down his hands fill with the sands of time

My name in Dutch might just have a person thinking that
I reside by water, for my name means “Lake cat.”
However, I’m a bigger fan of sun and sand.
Each morning in the rays of sun I go to stand.
I get my belly warm, which makes me ready for the day.
We hunt while one of us at home with all the pups will stay.
Our young pups cannot go hunting till they have all been taught
defense against the scorpion, whose pinchers hurt a lot!
We take good care of each other though some call us a mob!
But we are not the Mafia. Your business we won’t rob.
Today, on lookout duty, I’m keeping a close eye
out for foes like eagles swooping down on us from sky.
Why do they want to kill us? We are just so small and cute.
Jackals must be jealous when we get a photo shoot!
I think that folks don’t care about a jackal’s ugly face,
but people get excited just to watch us in OUR place!
Do you guys recall a series that was quite a while ago?
It was “Meerkat Manor.” My Grandma “Flower” stole the show!

THE MEERKAT
Meerkats are delightful beasts,
Arousing warm affection
They stand in groups discrete
Looking in the same direction
COW
How now brown cow
A bestowal to the world art thou
Miracle of God's construction
Four stomachs in mass production
THE PIG
Our blessings upon you abound
In our hearts you did awaken
A sense of gratitude profound
For bringing home the bacon
CHICKENS
In these days of Genetic modification
There is a question that begs
Should we yield to the great temptation
To get a chickens with four wings and six legs
THE URBAN PIGEON
I've nothing against the urban pigeon
But could it not maintain a smidgeon
Of caution when it makes its flyway
In the middle of a six lane highway
THE ANT
The ant delights to frolic
In Formic acid vitriolic
But on the tongue of the Ant Eater
There is nothing could be sweeter
THE BULL
His spontaneous emanation
Given without solicitation
Should encouraged him on a mission
To be a salesman or politician

Cherry lips, with tastes of berry,
Tight hips, with twists so merry,
Beauty so deep, points more than Perry,
Hungry for the lines, Yes, her I will marry.
Skin softer than the softness of silk,
Body whiter than the whiteness of milk,
Fragrance sweeter than sweetness of Potpurri,
Hungry for the lines, Yes, her I will marry.
Hair lengthy, with the blackness of soot,
Voice deep, with the likeness of meerkat,
Walks lovely, swaying in her fancy stilettos,
Hungry for the lines, Yes, her I will marry.
And now I see with eyes serene,
And dream big with glances extreme,
If only we forever remained the same,
To the end of us all, to the start of us all.

There is a strange animal in our zoo called a meerkat
That makes me laugh every time I look at
Although “kat” is in its name
It’s no feline just the same
So you can say the meerkat is no mere cat.
