I and My Not So Wild Gang

My name in Dutch might just have a person thinking that I reside by water, for my name means “Lake cat.” However, I’m a bigger fan of sun and sand. Each morning in the rays of sun I go to stand. I get my belly warm, which makes me ready for the day. We hunt while one of us at home with all the pups will stay. Our young pups cannot go hunting till they have all been taught defense against the scorpion, whose pinchers hurt a lot! We take good care of each other though some call us a mob! But we are not the Mafia. Your business we won’t rob. Today, on lookout duty, I’m keeping a close eye out for foes like eagles swooping down on us from sky. Why do they want to kill us? We are just so small and cute. Jackals must be jealous when we get a photo shoot! I think that folks don’t care about a jackal’s ugly face, but people get excited just to watch us in OUR place!
