Justice fiery
The need to rise
Walk the unthinkable Earth
No Justice No Peace to emphasize
Voting Rights Act taken away
Jim Crow laws come back won’t be a give away
Civil Rights stance
The Supreme Court didn’t get it right
The country is now in a plight uptight
My Soul cannot rest
My Spirit will contest
It’s time for all minorities to wake up and come together
The nation was built on principles for “We the People”
Forefathers laid it out plain and simple
Voice of America, we can’t sit back and let our voting rights be taken
away
It is not ok
We can’t take it light
We need to fight
Mobilize in numbers
Together strong
Break the barriers that bind
Loud voices intertwine
Voting Rights Act made history
Turned into a diminished light into darkness
More than fact
Democracy track
All it’s worth that should be
I am the Ghost of Medgar Wiley Evers
My voice in fight
We will not continue to be uptight

I had the honor and pleasure of having Malcolm X’s Widow, Dr. Betty Shabazz as my Professor on the subject of IN SEARCH OF WELLNESS class at CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE
Malcolm X was a standalone
A man full blown
History being well known
The push for Civil Rights change
Opposition just couldn’t remain
Malcolm X name represented greatness
I can account being the witness
Malcolm X was no error, but a count on
Feared no one
A name that will always be remembered
Movement of achievement
Malcolm X was killed for civil rights he believed in
His voice like a woodman’s Ax
Loud and verbal
His time on Earth was allowed
X marks the spot
He was a man of like it or not.

Principles simple
Health class called “IN SEARCH OF WELLNESS”
My mind opened up into wonder
My thoughts embraced yonder
Listened and absorbed
Possibilities on every turn
Theories directed
Legacies wisdom
Values to use in one’s own life
That is what I got from Dr. Shabazz’s teachings
No doubt
Pure education through and through
Who knew?
For me, it became pursue.

Can I get a window seat
Away from defeat
Can I get park for the kids to play
Next to the spot
Where Rosa refused her seat
Langston in my pen
Proud, young, and free
Handsome and intelligent
The government targets me
First,
In a second
My history is a blessing
The court system in racist
Society shows the traces.
what if one man died to stop world starvation?
what if one died to end racial segregation?
what if one man died for social justification?
what if one man died so we could have eternal salvation?
what would you do? what would you say?
would you get on your knees and for them pray?
what if one woman stood up for gender equality?
what if one woman refused to stand and give up her seat?
what if one woman served all her life trying to save lost souls?
what if one woman took a stance to help empower woman's roles?
what would you say? what would you do?
would you stand and applaud them and give them their proper due?
throughout the history of mankind
many have stood up and many have died for a cause
men and women who were fearless in their quest
willing to died without pause
Ghandi, Dr. Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers
Rosa Parks, Susan B. and Mother Theresa
they all took a stand in this world to make a sacrifice for us
but the one who died to set our souls free was Christ Jesus
