Mother whispered stories from the start,
Of the day that etched her heart.
A newborn cry, her tears flowed free,
Tears of joy—for that cry was me.
The family gathered, throwing their bids,
Choosing a name to crown her kid.
A title stamped upon my brow,
A world of promise awaited somehow.
Then comes a day, stark and bare,
When life no longer lingers there.
All you owned, gone in a breath,
Leaving behind a trace of death.
A final paper marked my name,
A hollow milestone cloaked in shame.
Again, my mother’s tears would flow,
Not joy this time, just sorrow's glow.
Her child departed—not by flight,
Nor by ship, nor wheels of might.
This journey knew no engine's churn,
Only silence, cold and stern.
The dead, remembered briefly so,
While the living hold their grief to show.
They praised the child on that last day,
But not when he needed it along the way.
So when I leave, keep it brief,
No need for shows to mask the grief.
For that day holds no grand design,
Let me fade from heart and mind.
Life's value lies not in just two dates—
The birth we hail, the death we state.
But in the days of triumph untold,
And the stories of a life made bold.
Leave the ground to fly upward forever
a quintillion atoms blasting astray
It’s April 20, Crack open an Easter egg
be careful not to drop, if a Fabergé
Celebrate Apollo 16, NASA’s high point
also light a candle down Columbine way
Luna doesn’t judge beyond her influence
so can’t be complicit in the price we pay
Deepwater horizon, fades into distance
not to mention some Dictator’s birthday
What marks a memento of lasting impact?
recurring dates in an almanac of ricochets?
Every once in a phase, flies by April 20
she turns her face, but cannot look away.
Bumper to bumper
As we race in convoy
I and my brothers
Double trafficator
The lights we give
We all riding on luxurious cars.
Racing to a nigga birthday
We're on the highway
Doing things in our own ways
Drip on drip, outfits very outstanding
A lot of cash available to spend
We're all living life on a low.
God has been faithful
Never seize giving
Even when we're misliving
Steadily, always coming through
When we're at our lowest
So we can never lose, we're not boosting
It's we, but on God our Father in heaven.

Wonderful gift of life

It's raining on my birthday
What a wonderful gift of life
The grass will be green again
Reaffirming nature's might
Her resilience is a lesson
For each and every one of us
So many bountiful blessings
To our families and ourselves
The soil thirsts for water
Like our souls search for the light
Nature and the Universe
All part of God's creations bright
The flowers bloom in wonder
Leaves decorate the trees
The ocean and rivers swell
With Heaven's emotional release
Every day is a blessing
Each birthday another year
May we all make the most of them
With our loved ones near and dear
May the light we seek be brilliant
Highlighting all that is good in us
And may we feel eternally grateful
For the loving gifts from above
No matter where you live
No matter what you believe
I wish the very best of nature
Will bless you with graceful ease

I gave Dad PARTY PICKS
250 multi-colored sticks
Wish it'd been a lil better
Gift card, book, sweater
One day I sobbed to Mom
She got me to be calm
It's like a Dad-artifact
Keeping memory intact
How he'd pick his teeth
Now it's our bequeath
It's almost all empty
But doesn't tempt me
To trash the lil bottle
It's become a model
For simpler gift-giving
And thoughtful living
Could be a small vase
For flowers by his face
Wish I had more Dad-things
For the memory it brings
More importantly, I had him
I love you Dad (Jim)
Tonight I received quite a nice surprise
So many comments, I was blinking my eyes
Bill Baker had so many encouraging things to say
~ As if he knew that today’s my 72nd birthday!
Bill, you sure have gotten my year off to a
wonderful start!
We married, on your birthday!
In San Francisco City Hall.
There was no family present,
Just you and I~ that's all!
We were two very young, and
very much in love elopers.
Nothing stood in our way, we
were over-comers, not life-copers.
Who drove from frozen, blizzardly
Chicago to our foggy city by the bay.
We chose to live our lives in our own
unique artistic way.
There was no wedding reception,
no gifts, no band.
Just a couple divinely in love, and
Panagiota so proud to wear that gold
wedding band!
Death took you from this life,
when you were still very young.
But her love for you, remains a song,
that everyday is sung.
And this forever young bride cannot forget
that day.
The sun, the Cable Cars, the glorious fog,
as her tears now fall into San Francisco Bay!
Rest in peace, my love!
Panagiota
