Leave the ground to fly upward forever
a quintillion atoms blasting astray
It’s April 20, Crack open an Easter egg
be careful not to drop, if a Fabergé

Celebrate Apollo 16, NASA’s high point
also light a candle down Columbine way
Luna doesn’t judge beyond her influence
so can’t be complicit in the price we pay

Deepwater horizon, fades into distance
not to mention some Dictator’s birthday
What marks a memento of lasting impact?
recurring dates in an almanac of ricochets?

Every once in a phase, flies by April 20
she turns her face, but cannot look away.

Dear david What a deeply thought provoking poem this is, for some reason im a cynical person and i find it so hard to believe anyones been on the moon or can visit the moon (hope i don’t sound stupid) but moon never judges and listens to so many and in darkness she shines! And this poem with lines such as “ not to mention some Dictator’s birthday What marks a memento of lasting impact? recurring dates in an almanac of ricochets?” strong and powerful questions youv delivered there dear david! Pleasure reading you today! Sending you light always

Heya Ink! I certainly won’t try convert you to believe in something you have doubts about, there’s some cosmological theories I find hard to understand myself; this one is more about dates coinciding or overlapping, and if the universe is trying to tell us something, thought it might be an interesting direction to come at the contest, but who knows if it will capture the attention of the sponsor, you’re certainly not stupid to be cynical of mankind’s history, cheers David

Thank God Luna doesn't judge, or she'd have turned her dark side on us long ago. For leaving so much trash on her, she could've easily stopped the ebb and flow of tides. But at least we'd no longer have to fear werewolves showing up on full moon nights. Seriously nice history lesson, David. And if the US ever returns, they should take that flag home with them. The moon is not owned by anyone. hmmm Trump might want to tariff her light.

Haha, you’re not far wrong with Trump putting tariffs on the moon Lin, lunacy seems to be the order of the day in DC, April 20 does seem to have quite an explosive past throughout history, I can remember a more personal one that possibly gave me the idea for this piece, thanks for your thoughts, cheers David
