Don't you understand what I'm trying to say
Can't you feel the fears I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave
Take a look around you boy, it's bound to scare you, boy
And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
How you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction
Eve of Destruction sung by Barry McGuire
World War III
Could we on the verge?
Is this another cold war?
Will it end badly?
All it takes is a wrong word,
itchy finger, Russian coup,
a single accident and the world
will end in fire followed
by a long cold nuclear winter.
There will be no one left
to write poetry

Can We Avoid It?
The genie is out of the bottle.
It cannot be put back.
The Doomsday Clock is closer to midnight.
Iran is closer to the bomb.
“Death to America and Israel”
Israel can retaliate in kind.
India and Pakistan
Can annihilate each other
With mushroom clouds of death.
The incompetent Russian military
Continues to stumble and fall
Putin now rattles his nuclear sword.
Once the button is pushed
There is no running away
No one will be left to save
Let us fervently pray we can avoid it!

Eddie McGuire made us all groan,
Eddie the eighth (VIII) abdicated the throne.
Eddie "The Eagle" flew through the sky,
Eddie Van Halen made his guitar cry.
Eddies Murphy and Izzard made us all laugh,
Eddie "The Beast" tore a phone book in half.
Eddie "The Head" was a head banger,
Eddie Sheeran has a head like a ranga!
Eddie Mabo toiled for land rights,
Eddie Alvarez got into fights.
So Eddie be proud of your name evermore,
As it's shared with the greats who are mentioned afore.
But be your own Eddie and tread your own path.
Stay humble, grow wise and keep making us laugh!

What joy
What comfort
To find a comfy niche
Where kindred spirits abound
Where we are encouraged to be ourselves
And delight in others showing their true colors
How profound it is to connect on that human level
Sharing opportunities to appreciate each other’s journeys
With tendered words, views, passions, dreams and aspirations
Life obstacles and vulnerabilities divulged with open heart
Allowing others to touch us in so many ways
Inviting them into our private bubble
Where some so easily click
Like long lost friends
Forever leave
Their mark
To one such friend
I need pay tribute
He’s an artist on my path
No doubt to feed my motivation
He gives praise
Like it’s free candy
He’s a humble goodhearted poet
Direct and won't play games
He couldn't be a politician
It would surely kill him
All I have to say is how I have
Tremendous respect for him
And everything he stand for

A LIMERICK ON NOTED SOUP POETS
Bob Hinshaw, Tom Cunningham, James Edward Lee, Sr., Russell Sivey, Gordon McConnell, Greg Barden, Emile Pinet, Silent One, WingedWarrior, Charles Messina, Gershon Wolf, Richard Lamoureux, Joe Flack, Liam McDaid, Rick Parise, Curtis Johnson, Curtis Futch, Jr., Brian Strand, Don Johnson, Jack Ellison, Roblert Lindley, Timothy McGuire, John Gondolf, Arturo Michael, Edward Ibeh, Kevin Shaw, Harry Horsman, Dr. Ram Mehta
They come from all walks of life
Some from countries filled with strife
They wish to convey
Their life in a way
That cuts to the core like a knife
They write words of wisdom, words that inspire
Words of great mirth, and some words of hell fire
Some poems tell a story
On getting to glory
They truly are poets that we can admire
When you read the words they have written
I feel certain that you will be smitten
You may laugh, or you may cry
You may just chuckle, or only sigh
But what they have written is always fittin'
If your name is not here, please forgive me
The list is inexhaustible, you see
It would take many days
To give everyone praise
And on that, I think you'll agree

It’s your turn…
Come to Santa, my dear
If only for a minute
Forget life is often cruel
And you are hungry
Forget your sadness, little one
Believe if only for a short reprieve
In the magic of Christmas
That dreams can come true
That you too deserve a happy home
Find it in your heart the joy to smile
And trust in miracles for that one minute
Free of fears that weigh you down…
Santa has a present for you
Perhaps the only one you’ll get this year
There’s no justice in the world
Santa’s smile really hides Santa’s tears

The gift of quietness, sometimes ignored,
may go unclaimed throughout our busy day.
Unless that time of stillness is embraced,
we'll miss our joy to share in the reward.
The gift of quietness- its silent song-
can play to calm our weary hearts and minds.
The empty silence spreads tranquility
to balance yin and yang where they belong.
The gift of quietness- its emptiness,
grants fullness of an aura without sound
that soon uplifts the spirit once again
to face our busy lives with happiness.

THE BOYS WHO WOULD BE KING
by Ron Arbuthnot
Dear Prince, I've dreamt your crown sets on my head,
Like many USA boys, in our prime
Not fantasy, but stuff of dreams, instead,
So we could shape the world and in our time;
So we could lead the dreamers in their quest
For God's Divinity, that sweetness for the soul,
For Goodness, Mercy, Hope, and all the rest
Of qualities that make life's worthy goal.
W've loved your Mother, as we know she's you,
And hands you down, these matters from her past,
To show mankind, that love alone can do,
Not very much without what makes a love to last.
Yes, I have dreamt I'd wear your crown one day,
In stuff of dreams, that God will bring your way.
God Save the Queen
God Save the King

This Is Inspired by the joke posted by
"The Incomparable Mystic Rose."
She is a MUST read for All Souper's
Love that sense of humor Rose and Thanks
Mrs. McGuire concerned as she was
Always the proper lass
Went to see Dr. McGee
Hoping to stop passing gas
She explained, it always was silent
and odorless she was quite sure
In fact, she had passed gas
Several times since she came through his door
McGee scratched his head and then nodded
Then handed her, a bottles of pills
Take these and come back in a week
For now this will handle your ills
When McGuire returned to the Doctor's
And ask what was wrong with the pills
For although her gas was still silent
It stunk as high as the hills
McGee looked up at her sternly
But his voice was soft and endearing
Now that we've cleared up your sinus
We will go to work on your hearing

Remember Irish Peter McGuire?
Lying Irishman with pants on fire?
I looked up to the sky
and saw him there up high.
Holding tightly to a telephone wire.

Have you heard of Peter McGuire?
There is no more prolific liar.
Pete comes from County Cork.
He is the biggest dork.
Did you see him with his pants on fire?
