I woke up this morning
with birds: seemed like fighting,
I could imagine the worms
minced and melted in their nebs.
Their living is superb,
they can fly, they can touch the sky
and dive to catch
the tiny mantes and flies.
This wonderful world
is full of complexity
the goal of life can kill,
the body and soul
are sold to evil because of cupidity.
Lick and suck to ty people,
until they lose their integrity,
their trait and faith fade
all turmoils emerge.
One day they'll wake up,
on the platform full
of venoms, values are gone
their pith is in ill.
They can't change
and cure their lifestyle
due to the ruthless
in their blindfolded eyes.
I wish I were just a bird
that could freely reach
the rainbow,
without seeing
those hazardous beings
that could stop my breathing.
Our dear son took a nest to his room
And he stashed it away, we assume.
The next morning he woke
To a nightmare- no joke-
Praying mantes on four walls did bloom!

True Story -1970
cold and snow arrives
young praying mantes last bow
staring at the trees
content to see the egg sacs
holding their spring progeny
School Project
The boy had a project for school:
came home to now follow the rule
to venture outside on a quest;
discover a large insect nest.
He found one to store in his room.
Next morning he woke up with gloom!
The Mantes had hatched and now crawl
by hundreds all over his wall!
Sandra M. Haight
Son's science quest,
insect nest finds;
school's best project.
Saves in his room.
Wakes to doom when
with gloom, he cries.
Hundreds now crawl.
Every wall sports
hatched small mantes.
