As I watch the pendulum of the wall clock
Continuously swinging back and forth
A sarcastic smile comes to my lips
To be or not to because of my frustration
From where I came and for what
And what is my ultimate destination
Not sure what to do next, I sit still in a chair
With both arms supporting the chin
Undecided, confused, absolutely unclear
Butterflies hop from one flower to another
Their tummies are full, but still not satisfied
Is not the same predicament facing most of us
Either somewhat less or magnified large
Our complete persona becomes a mirror image
Of what we wish, think, and act
No one can be our tour guide here
Only our consious can show the perfect path
activities of reality
pathos
in
reposed eternity
stranded
in silence
profiled
in silhouette
the verticals
horizontals
in shadowed
eruptions
linger
&
blend
nuances
in measured
intervals
of
soft
luminosity

MAGNIFIED BEAUTY
On the wings of a dream-carrier she flew
Surprised, enclosed in a shining glass capsule
Landed in a strange terrain she never knew
A fairyland where things are big and beautiful.
The sunset sky splashes all the hues of its color
Butterflies soak, paint motifs on broad wings
In a trance she looks outside the glass barrier
In her ears music of fluttering butterflies rings.
An ordinary girl trapped in her space narrow
Used to see her world in many shades of grey
She is awestruck by the vibrant colorful show
Of beauty magnified, she knows it won’t stay.
She would come out of the capsule some day
Release her captive mind to amplified beauty
On butterfly wings with dreams she’d fly away
Her world would resonate with colored rhapsody.

I received a gift yesterday
It came in the form of words
Still it was so much more
From a friend
A woman I have never met
Who has taken the time to know
My thoughts
My heart
she has gone beyond the obvious
Read my synapses
My mind sparking across many pages
Understanding
Thinking my thoughts
Feeling my pain
Laughing at my jokes
Clever comments exchanged
Mutual appreciation
I read her poems
I have felt where the sadness lies
I have been carried by her joy
The triumphs of her soul
This is the place that kindness lives
I call her friend
This woman I have not met
Yet I feel that I know
I am thankful
I respond
In the best way I know how
With my words
That are more than words
I place a gem in her hand
Ask her to hold it in front of her eyes
Magically I hope
It will magnify my thankful smile.
In appreciation of my friend Becca
