My dogs charge the fence
Barking ferociously at the neighbor dog
Acting like he is a murderous intruder
Here to do serious damage to their pack
The neighbor dog lunges back
Enjoying the game, glad to be of service
I smile at their antics
If the fence disappeared they would be smelling butts

in the fury of battle...
a dragon
draws back
her long, serpentine neck
revealing
terrifying d a g g e r s
in her powerful jaws
-with direct aim at target -
then, forcefully...
lunges neck
like a thrown javelin spear
expecting
p r o j e c t i l e vomit of
engulfing fire geyser;
only coughs up
a slender thread of...
smoke.

Sunlight sifts through shimmering aspens
Casting ghost-like shadows on the forest floor
Camouflaging the smaller critters shyly
Skittering among the drying brown leaves
Protecting their well-hidden burrows
Sometimes I hear them chattering warning
In sharp squeaky voices so charming,
Not unlike the chirping of the nesting birds
When strangers invade their territories.
Stray sunbeams scamper across carpeted floor
Capturing a hidden hungry hog snake stalking
A chipmunk with leering, beady black eyes
Menacingly, when all else is tranquil hereabout.
Suddenly all is dark, the sun dips behind a cloud,
The snake lunges at the unsuspecting creature
As a crow abruptly caws loudly thrice overhead.

French troubadours sing their praises
melodic tune gently raises
mystical awareness of the throng
the king’s concubine finds voice in song
many a love match in throne room hazes
sensuality in these phrases
smoldering looks among youthful gazes,
lustful lunges do not seem wrong
French troubadours song
soulful feelings burn heart in blazes
twisted emotions lost in mazes
many young women shipped to Hong Kong
Not understanding quite what went wrong
barely a rumor banishment raises
French troubadours song

Large muscular strong cat
Labeled as king of beasts
Lives in grassland in pride
Lavish mane crown male dons
Lumbers elegantly
Labors hunting in night
Lunges at prey’s neck.

I’m stuck in a whirlpool,
Lost, confused, alone
Where am I heading?
To the bottom of this pool,
A blackhole,
All air leaves my lunges

This amazing red headed woodpecker has a solid rat-a-tat-tat
Creating a bit of interest from my well-fed old cat
Shark stops stalking my cardinals which are way too smart
And begins staring at the oak tree with the loud sounding bark.
A robin takes advantage and swoops in for a tiny bite of kibble.
Shark lunges at her, but misses by a mile and a middle.
If he did not have such a tummy, he might have done fine.
Wrens begin swooping in, flying in a hilarious avifauna line
The birds are winning today, thanks to the distraction made
By the loud red headed woodpecker in this everglade
The sparrows are eating bird food not paying attention at all.
Shark makes a tiny leap, but his corpulence is his downfall.
The birds have won, once again, outsmarted my cat.
This is no surprise, and due to his tubby chubby fat.
He used to be spry, but he is old now like me.
I smile at the woodpecker, who is content as can be.

Belligerent bulldog blows up balloons, bulbous and blue.
Frantic frenzied flamingo flips for a flute and a flu.
Persnickety porcupine prances perilous with pooh,
Concerned calico cat coaxes a cardinal’s carnival coo.
Daredevil dolphin diligently designs dalmatian dog’s hairdo.
Serendipitous skunk sashays toward sticky sweet stew.
Lavishly laborious lion lunges into little linguistic loo.
Youngish yak yells and yips at yellow bellied you.

Nature ages like Youth,
a bougainvillea wrapped
around a strapless watch.
Youth doesn’t look at the clock
but ignores passing hours unknowing,
innocent of the melting water.
It leaps and lunges without fear of a fading silhouette,
it smiles with missing teeth,
gaps filled with dreams that will change.
Youth giggles at the simplest of movements,
it blanches under praise -
it drifts along shores, feeling hearing holding then
abandoning the flotsam and jetsam of aging. It is a bundle of
yesterday’s plans
ostracised by calendars,
unaware that friends will leave, as
trenches are dug by
hands, wrinkled.
Youth is a promise milked into creams,
it is a sweating desire to return, rediscover the
suppleness of joints, of bones, of possibility.
Youth has not yet become a mouth that sighs,
is bougainvillea still free from being entwined, twisted and tied.
It is not yet conscious of time as an intangible abstract
forever

You cleanse my soul with your unspoken words
You are the blood that keeps my heart beating
You are the air that fills my lunges so I can breathe
You are the food that feeds my soul
You are my eyes so that I can see
You are my ears that hear unspoken words
You are the truth that uncovers lies
Your beauty is in my hands so others can see
You are my Poetry!

there’s something
about lit night
which cleans
pang of farewell
like a healing balm,
quite potent
in times
when despair
lunges
at raw veins:
yet hope flames
to sing with new moon
and greet fresh enchantment
blest-
as loss grants rebirth.

A gentlefellow and maiden intermingle
on curiosity's swing-seated rest.
Vulnerableness is compressed between them,
as if a violet's caress requested their presence.
Harmony's tones are blown through the air,
like lilac's laughter scattering
as jasmine's megaphone hums.
Music's smooth movements dance within them
as if mountainberry ice cream were sampled
from their dreams with a fairy dusting.
An artist's loaded brush paints their moment.
A starfish's bluish blush comes naturally.
Beating blood and veins overlap silently.
Regal drape twine hides a stage
where beauty's ballrooms bloom before their eyes.
Love's uncomfortable shoes
leave a pleasurable bruise as they
peruse through fields of vine-ripened grapes.
An eggplant's bloodline finds royalty's manners
are hung like Lutheran banners
in the boldest of circumstances.
A stream of jelly donut filling
lunges into their tongues at once.
Tastebuds are given amethyst's first kiss.
Like hot and cold amiss, the warmth is blissful.
A rainbow's favorite ending begins indefinitely
as a projection of the evening's sky blending.
The progeny of red and blue is born by two.

A summer evening lunges eagerly
Singing in an iridescent color
Trampling mindly, in quiet cheerfulness
While autumn, longing, cries thunder
In chilly night air, truculently
Daylight stands proud with present glow
Soon snowflakes will begin to fall
And angels dance in moonlight show
